Chapter 7

"I feel sick," Oliver said as he ran a hand through his hair.

Vinny rubbed his back, but he was feeling just as nervous.

It was now half eight in the evening and about two hours ago; Demons got spotted on the coast of France.

They'll hit England at any minute.

John was tapping his feet and twiddling his thumbs. He was watching his son with a worried frown.

He hoped that he was able to use his strengths and the skills he had been taught over the years. He didn't know what to expect with the demons but if they fight dirty, then so will he.

Jed was intensely listening to the Angels whispers. He was asking for help from Zachariah, but he wasn't getting a reply.

Zachariah was Panuleon's guardian and the one who raised him in heaven. So when Panuleon came to earth, he followed him, knowing the war was going to start but by surprise, he met his soulmate.

At the time, it was forbidden for angels to have human soulmates, and because Zachariah was an angel of a higher power, he had to get his powers stripped.

But, that was just a cover up.

He told Panuleon that he came to earth to find his soulmate, but he came to protect him and Corey. his powers were not taken away and he was still allowed to fall in love. He only told Panuleon this so he wouldn't worry or stress about it but he didn't know that the young angel was already aware of what was happening.

"They're here" Jed then said as he stood up. He could sense it.

Everyone in the room felt their hearts beat faster as they shared the same brave but worried expressions.

Oliver was the only human in the dining-room, so people were aiming to stick by him.

They were aware that Vinny needed protecting too, although, he is a strong fighter.

"What like, in England or, here?" John asked as he sat forwards.

"Here"

Duke also stood up and opened the door.

"Brace yourselves, they're here," He said, causing a nervous chatter to rise.

The whole world seemed to be on standby as the demons had searched almost every country until they discovered where the boys lived.

Most people in the Vanderwood city had fled, just to get out of town until this chaos blew over.

hopefully, it does.

"I'm so nervous," Oliver said.

Vinny could tell, judging by how tightly he was holding onto him.

"We're going to get through this" He whispered into his ear.

They were both depending on each other to provide that comfort and to keep their worries from becoming too overbearing.

Oliver nodded. He had confidence that if they got taken, they'd still win this war and they'd return home safely.

Confidence was the only thing that was keeping his emotions in.

He was more concerned about Jed, Madison, Duke, and his dad.

He didn't want any of them to become hurt in the process. It wasn't their war to fight, but he knew they would do anything to keep them safe.

And that frightened him.

Suddenly, there was shouting coming from a distance as everyone looked towards the door.

"Get ready," Jed said, knowing they were in the building.

The boys stood extremely close and gripped each other tight.

They had to stay together.

The noises got louder as shouting and the occasional cry of pain could be heard echoing through the chaos.

People were doing everything they could to keep the demons out of the dining-room. They came to protect the boys. Nobody had the right to take them like this, and the demons were impressed by the humans efforts but they were ploughing through them like a tidal wave.

Some had knives, some had steel covering their knuckle and were knocking people out.

Even though they could easily kill everyone they saw, they didn't.

They were under strict instructions to take the boys without a single death. Their leader was adamant that they could harm them, but not take a life.

But their leader was no ordinary leader.

As the demons continued to fight their way to the boys, not a single human cowered to their aggressive behaviour and their unnatural ways.

They had a goal in their heads, and that was to stop them at any cost.

A lot of the people were getting knocked out and badly injured, but not as many demons turned up as they thought.

Only around twenty of them burst through the front door.

As the Vampires crowded around the dining room door, Oliver's heart was beating fast.

Everyone could hear the distress and the chaos from outside, he didn't want it to open. He wanted some miracle to come and save them. He wanted the people to prove their strengths and stop the demons.

But he also knew that wasn't going to happen.

That door was going to open, and it would bring terror and there was nothing anyone could do but be brave.

He had to be brave.

Just then, there was a sudden flash of a bright light, followed by a creamy glow coming from the middle of the room.

Everyone turned, just as a person landed with magnificent white wings.

"Zachariah" Jed breathed in relief as he ran over and pulled him into a hug.

The other angel hugged back, thankful that he wasn't too late.

The Vampires gawped at his wings but didn't let their focus drift away from what was happening outside.

"Jeduthun, is anyone hurt?" Zachariah asked as he pulled away and checked him over.

"Outside those doors, yes. But not in here" Jed said as he checked him over too. His gaze then wandered to the boys. "Come, we need to be ready."

The angels walked up to them, knowing there was no time to waste.

"Wait, Jeduthun I have a change of plan," Zachariah said as he grabbed his arm, making him turn. "We shall not fight."

That is when everyone turned towards him.

"What?" Jed questioned.

"I know where Panuleon and Corey are being held. We need to let the boys get taken to the same place, and when the demons think they're winning, we'll summon more angels and concentrate on fighting there."

"No," Duke said while stepping forwards. "This is my son you're talking about. I'm not just going to hand him over to these hellhounds."

"Please, I do not want anyone to become hurt. You need to let the angels fight this. Here is not the place" Zachariah knew it would be easier to let the demons believe they are winning because then they can take them by surprise.

"He's right, here isn't the place" Jed could now see a clearer path and a way to defeat the demons. "I should have thought of this before, but if Zachariah knows where they'll be taken, the demon leader will be there too and we can fight who we need to and get this war finished."

Putting up a fight and blindly letting the boys get taken with a struggle would've been a hard dead end. But now that they know where they'll be taken, they can follow them there and to the rest of the demons.

"I don't know about this" Oliver then said. He was scared, and if he wasn't being comforted by the warmth of Vinny's strong arms, he would've revealed it more.

"I don't want my son to be taken either," John said. He had a huge fear of the unknown and not knowing what the demons will do to the boys when they are captured was making his mind uneasy.

The other Vampires didn't want to look like cowards to these hellhounds, but the Angels had a point.

If they wanted a structured plan, that was it.

"I think it's wise," Vinny said which shocked everyone, even Oliver. "If we go silently, they may treat us better under their care. Also, we would have been taken anyway, and there's no point fighting if we know where we are going now."

Vinny looked at Oliver while he spoke.

"They're very near, is that the plan?" Jed asked as he looked around.

He got nods from everyone but the parents.

"I don't think this is right," Madison said as she tightly squeezed Dukes hands.

"I know it seems natural to protect us, but I think we should trust the angels," Oliver said.

If his soulmate agreed to this, then so did he.

He could also see a clearer path and one that may have a positive ending.

John hated this. He wanted to fight for his son and to keep him safe, but if they agreed to this, then he shouldn't stop them. He would only get injured in the process as he seemed to be the only one who was still up for a fight.

"I can't believe we're doing this," Duke said. He understood why the boys would choose this but it was frustrating just to let them go.

"Jed," Vinny said as it was now clear that the demons were right behind the door. "That's the plan."

He gave him the nod, sealing the deal, putting the fate of their future right into the demons hands. But it was the right call.

Suddenly, just like they all expected, the door burst open and in walked the first demon.

The man scanned the room madly, ready to fight. He was covered in what everyone could only assume was other people's blood. He was sweaty and dressed all in black.

Vinny could feel Oliver's hands begin to tremble, but he stayed remarkably close and rubbed his thumb up and down his knuckles.

When the demon realised what was happening, his gaze then fell on the boys.

With an evil grin approaching his lips, he took a step forward.

His eyes then turned to the deepest shade of black.
