Scarlet had watched her brother since he came into the room. It was unusual to see him as he looked a little older, so did Oliver.

But she was nervous.

She has finally come to apologise, after hearing that they are in trouble, she wanted to help. But she was nervous because she knows she did wrong and she knows that Vinny might never forgive her.

She didn't care what Oliver thought because, in her eyes, he still isn't family.

When she made eye contact, her hairs stood on end.

Vinny looked angry.

He was angry. After all this time, she just turns up? Is she trying to look like the good Samaritan or is she here to apologise? Either way, he didn't want to find out.

"She's coming over," Oliver said as he felt his soulmate tighten his grip around him.

By now, Madison had noticed her and asked the other vampires if she could have a moment with the boys. They went off to talk to some other people as she hoped Scarlet didn't make a scene.

Vinny's cold glare was very off putting as Scarlet avoided any eye contact with Oliver.

She stopped about two feet in front of them and crossed her arms.

Madison didn't know what to say. This was her child who she hasn't seen in two thousand years. She wanted to hug her and ask what she had been up to. But she also hated her for what she did to Oliver and didn't know how to react.

"I'm sorry" Scarlet mumbled and looked down to the ground.

Seriously, that was her apology?

Vinny almost laughed in her face. She can't expect him to accept that, surely.

"Are you joking?" He asked, making her look back up.

She noticed that they both had wedding rings on and it made her feel a little sick that a human got married into her family.

"No, I'm not joking" She frowned. "What else do you want to hear?"

Vinny had noticed she was doing her best to ignore Oliver but it was him who she needed to apologise to.

"I want you to mean it," Madison said, taking Vinny's side.

But it was true. If Scarlet was going to be involved with this family again, then she had to show how sorry she actually was.

"I did mean it," Scarlet said but that wasn't very convincing.

"Look, if you're going to try, at least try hard" Vinny muttered. He was angry just looking at her.

"I'm sorry," She said again but still, it wasn't convincing.

"For gods sake Scarlet," Madison said. "Clearly you know you've done wrong so why is it so hard to say that you're sorry and mean it?"

Scarlet was becoming impatient, apologising was harder than what she thought, now that she realised she didn't truly mean it. She just wanted to be in her parent's good books again.

"Mum, can I talk to just you for a second?" She asked.

"Please, just get away from me," Vinny said blankly. He didn't care if he hurt her feelings or not. She's not family, not anymore.

Madison took Scarlets arm and pulled her across the room. She feared that a big argument might break out and the boys didn't need to deal with this.

Oliver put his cup down and wrapped his arms around his Vampire.

He could feel how angry and frustrated Vinny was now and he needed to settle his thoughts.

"She's not here if you don't want her to be," He said as he rested his forehead against his.

Vinny felt himself relax at the warmth of Oliver, being so close.

"I know but it's hard to just ignore her" He mumbled.

"I know, but if she wants to put things right, she will."

Vinny pulled his head back enough to see the sparkle in Oliver's eyes.

"You're so amazing."

Oliver smiled and let his gaze wonder to his lips. He then leant in and gave him a kiss.

"I know."

Vinny rolled his eyes but he loved Oliver's cheeky side, no matter what situation they're in.

He then turned his back to Scarlet and wrapped his arms around his shoulders.

"And modest."

"I know," Oliver said as he grinned.

Vinny couldn't resist as he leant forwards and started kissing Oliver's face.

He scrunched his eyes shut and chuckled. He loved it when he did this.

The vampires found themselves smiling at the boys sweet and funny nature towards each other. Even in times of disturbance and chaos they still find joy in their comfort.

Oliver eventually pulled back and covered Vinny's mouth with his hands.

Of course, Vinny licked it but Oliver wiped it across his cheek, making him pull back with a frown.

"You're disgusting," He said while rubbing his cheek.

Oliver was watching with a grin.

"Says the one who licked my hand."

Vinny blinked a few times, but he had no comeback.

"Shut up and eat some toast" He mumbled before turning him around and giving him a gentle shove towards the table.

Oliver chuckled but he did want some breakfast.

Just as Vinny was getting ready to watch his soulmate, he could hear raised voices coming from the back of the room and he knew who it was.

He turned to see Scarlet and Madison having a little argument.

Everyone had noticed too but they were trying to take their attention elsewhere.

Something was said from Madison that made Scarlet look at her like she had said the worst thing in the world.

Oliver was watching as Scarlet turned and gave him a nasty glare. It made him shift uncomfortably on his feet; he didn't like that.

Vinny's frown deepened when Scarlet started stomping their way. She looked mad, but did she have the right to be? What did Madison say to her?

Vinny stepped towards Scarlet because her gaze never left his soulmate. He was deeply concerned that she was going to start shouting at him.

"Move" She spat when he stepped in front of her path. She shoved him out the way and stopped in front of Oliver, who was fidgeting with nerves.

"I hope you get what's coming to you" She growled before lifting her hand and slapping him hard across the cheek.

Oliver stumbled back and into the table.

The whole room went silent at the sound of her hand making contact with his face.

Duke and Madison raised their eyebrows in shock as Oliver rubbed his cheek. He now looked scared.

Vinny then snapped.

His eyes flashed red as he stepped towards his sister and grabbed her hair.

Scarlet loudly gasped as he pulled it tight and bent her arm around her back.

Without hesitation, he pushed her all the way through the dining room and out into the corridor.

Everyone stopped talking when he pushed her into a the crowd.

"You're not my sister and you're not part of this family. If I ever see you again, I will hurt you" He growled, feeling his anger burn through his veins.

He didn't care if she had anything to say as he turned and hurried back to his soulmate.

Oliver was stunned, he honestly did not expect that.

Everyone watched as Vinny walked straight up to him and examined his face.

"Are you okay?" He asked, clearly concerned.

"I'm alright," Oliver said as Vinny engulfed him into a hug. "you're shaking."

"I'm so angry" Vinny muttered.

Madison and Duke exchanged looks from across the room.

They knew they needed time alone with each other and the vampires seemed to understand.

A few went out and into the gardens as the rest went for a wander around the mansion.

Duke and Madison were very embarrassed. They couldn't believe their daughter would behave in such a way, especially in front of so many people.

When the room was empty, they walked up to the boys.

"Oliver are you alright?" Madison asked before putting a hand on his shoulder.

When he pulled away from Vinny, his slapped cheek was bright red.

"I'm fine," He said and nodded with reassurance.

"What did you say to her?" Vinny asked as he was only just able to put his fangs away.

Madison sighed.

"She tried apologising to me but I told her it was Oliver who she needed to apologise to. She then got stroppy and said he didn't deserve it and how much she hates humans and so on. But I admittedly got angry and said something that I actually don't regret."

Everyone listened, wanting her to continue.

"I told her that I considered Oliver to be more my child than what she'll ever be."

Duke raised his eyebrows at this. Yes, it was cruel but somewhat the truth.

Oliver is like a second son to them but what is Scarlet? He barely considers her a daughter after what she has done.

Vinny was also a little shocked but he felt like she deserved it. He wanted to do more than just pull her hair but he couldn't stoop down to her level.

He's better than that.

"I can't believe she hit you," He said.

"It's fine; I'm over it" Oliver sighed. He wished Scarlet would just apologise and make up for lost time. But they still had bigger things to think about.

To the boys, this felt like a very strange day.

War was coming for them and there was nothing they could do. They'd most likely be taken to God knows where and have God knows what done to them. But the reason they weren't panicking was that they had faith the angels would rescue them.

Apparently they are much stronger than Demons but the reason Zachariah couldn't fight them was that they had weapons, special weapons.

Vinny and Oliver were going to spend every moment together.

But it was making them sick to their bones at what was coming. It's not fair; they're just in love why is that causing them so much pain?

Vinny knew he was going to kill demons. There was no holding back and Scarlet's reappearance has only just made him angrier.

He'll definitely unleash that when the fight happens.

But will he be strong enough?
