Chapter 53

"Panuleon, why are his wings black?"

It was a shock for Corey to see that his baby had wings in the first place, but there was something not quite right.

"I don't know, but if you look closer you can see some gold, see," The angel said as he brought the baby closer.

And sure enough, mixed with the pure black feathers were beautiful patterns of swirling gold.

Corey found himself reaching out to touch them, they were so mesmerising.

"They're beautiful," He said as the little wing trembled under the tickling touch.

"Do you think it might be the power that did this?" He suggested.

"Maybe," Panuleon said. It would make sense as to why they were gold, but not why they were black.

"I think the reason why these angel wings are black is due to the power. Remember, your kids will have something so strong that black wings are just the beginning. The power is dark and magical, it doesn't surprise me that this has happened" Zachariah said. "Yes I've never seen anything like it, but I have never seen anything like your bond either."

The angel had a point.

The wings change of colour must be the powers fault. These kids are meant to be different, they're meant to stand out above the crowd.

Everyone took their gaze to the newborn's cute little wings, seeing them in a brighter light.

"So, you're saying there's nothing for us to worry about?" Panuleon asked.

"Yes. He has black wings for a reason and I think it's just a symbol for the power that he'll possess."

Corey rested for a further hour before getting up and getting a shower.

Zachariah looked after the newborn in the dining-room.

"You did such a great job," Panuleon said as he wrapped his arms around him while he dried his hair with a towel.

Corey leant into him, feeling that the efforts of what he managed to go through were starting to take it's toll again.

Surprisingly, he wasn't doing too bad. This strange power within was healing him at rapid speeds as they guessed his insides had gone back to normal.

"I can't believe I had a baby today," He said before chucking his towel at the radiator but missed.

"I know, we still need to think of a name" Panuleon smiled when Corey turned and snuggled his head into his chest.

"It's so hard."

"I know, but there's one I hear you thinking about and it's one that I really like."

Corey looked up but kept his chin resting against his chest.

"I really like that name."

"Me too," Panuleon said before he leant down and picked up his tired soulmate. "Let's go name our baby."

"Do you think he knows it's another baby?" Oliver asked.

He was sitting next to Zachariah and holding little Rayvon. He was awake but Corey and Panuleon's child was sleeping.

Rayvon had not stopped gazing in his direction.

"Maybe, I do not understand how a baby's mind works," Zachariah said.

Oliver chuckled.

"I don't think anyone does."

"We need to give him a bath soon," Vinny stated before sitting next to his soulmate.

"Yey," Oliver said sarcastically. "More tears for us."

Does he not like bath time?" Jenny asked.

"No, he hates it" Oliver chuckled.

Just then, the other couple landed in the room.

Panuleon gently put Corey down as they both quickly walked up to their baby.

They couldn't wait to see him again.

Zachariah stood up and handed him to Panuleon.

"He's so small" The angel beamed.

Zachariah and Jenny have never felt so proud.

Corey sat next to Oliver on the couch as Rayvon's eye's closed.

Newborn babies do sleep a lot.

Panuleon slowly sat down, barely able to take his eyes off his little one.

"He's so tiny compared to Rayvon" Oliver grinned.

"I can't believe they're two males," Duke said. He was sitting on the opposite couch. "Well, I kind of expected it but I didn't think too much about the gender. Not that it matters."

"are you happy that it happened early?" Jed asked.

"Yes, we were so eager to see him" Corey chuckled.

"I bet. They're both so sweet."

The boys stared proudly at their children.

"I've figured out that one vampire month is about 83 human years," Oliver announced as Vinny smiled and shook his head. "It's just so I know when to expect progress from the baby."

"Just think of all the nappies we'll have to change," Corey said, but it was worth it.

"Have the boys made physical contact yet?" Madison asked. "If they are soulmates, I wonder if they'd connect straight away."

Panuleon and Oliver looked at each other with wonder in their eyes.

"We could try."

Corey got up and swapped places with Oliver so he was next to Vinny.

Both babies were sleeping now but they took their tiny hands and moved them next to each other.

Everyone watched. They were a little anxious and wasn't sure if this would work.

They both made the babies hands touch, but nothing happened.

"Maybe we have to wait until they're eighteen" Panuleon suggested.

"Yeah," Oliver shrugged and buried Rayvon's little hand back in the blanket.

"When they're older, do you think we should tell them that they're going to be soulmates?" Corey asked.

Everyone looked between the two newborns.

"I don't know but I think it'll be interesting to watch them grow up together" Oliver smiled. "But I can't believe your baby has wings."

Nobody expected that. Although, Panuleon is an angel so why wouldn't they expect it?

"I like that he has only just entered this world but he's already unique" Corey smiled.

"I like that too" Panuleon agreed.

"Does this mean he's an angel?" Oliver asked.

"It'll be hard to justify who he is. He might not be a full angel because Corey is human. It's the same for Rayvon though isn't it? He might not be a full vampire?"

"We'll have to wait until he's older to find out," Oliver said as he looked at Vinny.

They smiled at each other.

"Have you boys thought of a name yet?" Duke asked.

Corey and Panuleon looked at each other but it was such a hard decision.

"We have thought of a few although we're not exactly sure on what to pick."

"Has it changed now that you've seen him?" Oliver asked.

"Yeah, I was almost sure with what I wanted if it was a boy, but I don't think it suits him now."

"Well, there's no rush" Duke smiled, but he was itching to find out.

Madison was watching Vinny.

She saw how he would always stare at Oliver when he spoke and smiled a little bit when he chuckled. She watched how his gaze would wonder to Rayvon and his eyes would sparkle.

She couldn't believe how much things have changed for him but she couldn't be happier.

He was sitting here with the best soulmate he could ever have asked for and a son that was all his.

She was so proud of who he is and knew he would be a great father.

Before he met Oliver, she didn't picture this. That angry and short tempered teenager stomping down the hallways. She didn't think he would ever have kids or be truly happy.

But here he is, thankfully proving his parents wrong.

"There's one I can still hear you thinking about" Panuleon smiled. "You always go back to the same name."

Corey watched his son as he listened to his angel.

"I think it suits him."

Panuleon took his gaze to the little bundle, sleeping on his lap.

"I do too, I think it's the right name."

They looked at each other, searching their eyes for confirmation.

"Are you sure?" Corey asked.

Panuleon nodded.

They both smiled, feeling excited that they could finally name him.

"Have you decided?" John asked who was perched on the arm of the couch, next to Jed.

"I think we have" Panuleon grinned.

The boys looked up and scanned the faces who were eagerly waiting.

"Luka," They said together.

As soon as they said it out loud, it felt right.

"Luka Taylor."

The End.
