"Please, I need him," Corey sobbed and cowered into the wall. He could hear his soulmate's cries. They had been pulled past their five-meter mark and the pain was unbearable, like a dagger dragging down his chest.

"Shut up!" a woman yelled and booted the wall next to Corey's head. Corey whimpered and curled into a ball.

"It-It's alright Corey, We'll be okay," Panuleon said, clutching his chest.

They were in the same room, but too far apart. The boys didn't know how far away they were from home or if they were still in the same world.

The woman turned and cackled an evil laughter. "Aw, the angel is trying to be positive."

Panuleon's pleading eyes darkened. "Just wait till I get my hands on you," he growled.

The Demon clenched her jaw. She knew if the angel escaped, he would kill her.

Corey's wrists were starting to hurt from the metal handcuffs digging into them.

Panuleon could feel tingling from his pain on his wrists too, and he wanted so badly just to heal Corey, but he couldn't.

"Why do we have t-to be apart?" Corey questioned as a tear slipped down his cheek.

"Because you don't deserve to be together. You're freaks!" The demon spat. This time, instead of kicking the wall, she kicked Corey in the stomach.

Corey was almost sick and cried out in pain.

Panuleon tried getting up and pulled hard on the metal chains, but they were somehow weakening his powers, and he couldn't get to his soulmate. "Stop hurting him!" he yelled, feeling the sorrow deep within his heart.

"Oh sorry. Can you feel that Panuleon?" the demon questioned, crouching in front of Corey and clutching his throat. Corey spluttered the harder she squeezed. The demon knew Panuleon could feel Corey's pain, hear his thoughts and feel his misery. "You're pathetic!" she screamed in Corey's face and hit the back of his head against the wall.

Corey groaned and curled back up into a ball.

"You'll be sorry," Panuleon muttered. Sounding threatening was hard with tears streaming down his face.

The demon ignored him and walked out of the room with an unnerving grin.

Panuleon watched as his soulmate struggling to sit up. "Don't worry, we will get out of here." He wanted nothing more than to wipe the tears from Corey's cheeks and to hug his small frame.

"I know," Corey whispered, doing his best to show Panuleon a smile. "I just hope they don't get the other couple. They don't deserve to go through this."

The war started when Panuleon formed a special bond with Corey. The demons were greedy and had always tried to capture them. Demons were also delusional, and they didn't know what to do now that they had the couple obtained. The demons were prepared to run all kinds of experiments, just to somehow get the power for themselves.

The boys had been together for just over two thousand years, and they couldn't count how many times they had almost been in the situation they were in now. Demons had been trying to capture them from day one. Panuleon and Corey were fed up and angry.

"I love you," Corey croaked.

Just for a second, Panuleon felt a jolt of happiness, but the feeling left as quickly as it came.

"I love you too." Panuleon found comfort in those words. Though he wouldn't settled until he was right next to his soulmate. He needed Corey's touch, his warmth, and his love.

Oliver woke from a nightmare. The boys had discovered long ago that they dreamt the same things, but Vinny was already awake when Oliver had it. Oliver sat up quickly and looked around. Vinny jumped when he did so, not expecting him to wake so suddenly.

He felt Oliver's fear. "Hey, look at me, it's okay," he said softly, kneeling in front of him and holding the sides of his face in his hands. "You're safe."

Oliver clutched Vinny's waistcoat, trying to steady his breathing. "I- oh god it was horrible," Oliver said when he realised where he was and what was happening.

Only the morning had arrived, nothing more, and Vinny was already dressed. He had been up for a while, talking with Jed, who Oliver hadn't seen standing next to the door.

"Come here." Vinny pulled his soulmate into a tight embrace. Oliver hugged him back just as tightly. He closed his eyes when his soulmate gently massaged his back. "It was just a dream." Vinny planted a kiss into Oliver's hair. "You look tired." Vinny hands down Oliver's arms.

"Yeah, I didn't sleep great, but I'd be surprised if anyone did,"he sighed while noticing Jed. "What's new?"

"Demons have crossed the Australian border. They'll be here by tonight."

Oliver pursed his lips to avoid the fear flooding his face, though Vinny could feel it. "I hate this," he said before rubbing his temples.

"It's all over the news. The demons have been searching everywhere; people know they are coming for you and we've had a lot of help," Jed said with an encouraging smile.

The ground floor was full of tense bodyguards and members of the secret service. Even vampires from the nearest towns had come to help.

The demon's search angered the Vampire community. Just because the boys were special didn't mean that people could do whatever they wanted to them.

The public were staying indoors and nobody turned up for work this morning. Who could blame them? To humans, an invasion was pretty much an alien invasion; they just don't know the back story and the details.

Over the years, word spread about the boys extraordinary connection and people from all over the world, including Vampires had come to study them. Sometimes, Vinny got a little crusty about having people watch him and Oliver, but they knew it was simply out of curiosity.

"I'm just going to get dressed," Oliver said, slowly climbing out of bed. His eyes were stinging from the lack of sleep, but his nerves were keeping his lids open.

Usually, Oliver would change in front of Vinny without a care in the world but Jed was still in the room. A body was a body, but being naked in front of an angel felt a little... odd.

Oliver splashed his face with cold water before brushing his teeth and getting changed.

Vinny patiently waited with Jed who sat on the edge of the bed.

"Whatever happens, we will find you, and we will get you safely home," Jed said.

Vinny nodded, knowing he was saying that because Oliver was out of earshot. Vinny was aware that they would most likely get taken, he was still prepared to put up one hell of a fight. "I have faith in you," Vinny said, making the angel's eyes glow.

Jed always wondered if the boys thought his duties were pointless or not. There were times when he thought about going back to heaven because he didn't believe the war was going to start. Every time he got close to leaving, the friendships he had developed between the Vanderwood's were enough to make him stay. He loved Vinny and Oliver as if they were his own children.

He even thought that after the war was over, he would still stay and watch over the boys, if he were lucky enough to live though it.

The Vanderwood's were the closest thing Jed would ever have to a family, and he didn't want to leave it all behind.

Oliver walked out of the bathroom, looking fresh and a little more awake.

"Let's get some breakfast." Vinny smiled and took his hand. He was going to do his best to stay positive, for Oliver's sake.

They headed down quiet corridors. the mansion was never usually so quiet, but downstairs was a different story.

The boys held each other's hand tightly and stayed extremely close as they weaved themselves down the busy staircase and through the corridor.

They eventually made it to the dining-room. The room was empty compared to the corridor, but the Vampires from other cities were there, sharing the breakfast and filling up the huge dining table.

Jed shut the door behind them and stood at his usual post, just outside the door.

"So uh, you're an angel?" A guy from the secret service asked.

"Yes," Jed said, scanning the faces who had turned to look at him.

The guy didn't know what to think after that. Jed seemed so ordinary for someone so powerful and influential.

"Do you have wings?" he asked.

"Yes." Jed casually linked his fingers. He wondered how many times he would be asked that today.

Vinny and Oliver went to Duke and Madison, who were talking to some Vampires.

"Morning boys, did you sleep okay?" Madison asked and hugged them.

This time, Vinny hugged back, knowing it was important to show as much love as he could today.

"Not really," he mumbled as Duke gave Oliver a mug of coffee. "Did you?" He eyed other Vampires who gave him respectful nods.

"We've slept better," Madison smiled.

Vinny knew the other vampires watched himself and Oliver out of interest. Their bond was extraordinary.

He didn't care about their stares, though. Instead of talking to them, Vinny turned and wrapped his arms around Oliver and kissed his temple.

Oliver leaned into his kiss.

"I love you" Vinny whispered into his ear.

"I love you too," Oliver said with a cute smile.

Vinny stared into his big and beautiful green eyes, cherishing the sight.

Oliver then let his gaze wander around the room. His heart almost stopped when he saw a familiar face. Someone who he hadn't seen in just over two thousand years, and someone he truthfully thought he would never see again stood by the fireplace.

Vinny felt Oliver tense as he followed his gaze through the room. His blood boiled when the memories of the pain the person caused flooded back. Vinny glared, not wanting to see such a familiar, yet unwanted face.

The person sensed them watching and turned, flicking her long hair over her shoulder.

"Mum," Vinny growled, "what the hell is Scarlet doing here?"
