Chapter 27

Everyone waited until the instrument that opened the gap between the two worlds was destroyed.

"Where are we?" Oliver asked Jed as he kicked the sand with his feet.

"The south coast of India," He said as he looked out and into the horizon.

Oliver raised his eyebrows.

He has been to India before because he has lived for over two thousand years, so he and the Vanderwood's have travelled a lot.

"How long will it take to get home?" He asked.

"A few minutes" Jed smiled.

Oliver nodded. It was unusual that he could travel thousands of miles so fast.

Vinny watched as some angels landed in front of him before they casually walked over.

"It is destroyed," Maliyah said to Zachariah.

"Good, now let's get these boys home."

Aliyah went over to Vinny as Jed took hold of Oliver. Corey hugged Panuleon before the angels showed their wings.

"Are you okay to fly again?" Jed asked.

He could feel that Oliver was gripping him very tightly.

"Um, yeah," He said and nodded to reassure himself. Yes, he was terrified of falling out of the sky again but in this world, there are no demons to knock them off course.

"Okay. I know it's only a few minutes but if you want to take a break at any point, you can."

Oliver nodded once more but he was so desperate to get home, he would be able to tolerate a few minutes in the skies.

"Are we ready?" Zachariah asked, creating nods from the group. Everyone knew to follow him as they looked up and into the skies.

And in a blink of an eye,

They were gone.

* * * * *

John had his hands wrapped around a cold cup of tea.

He couldn't bring himself to do anything. He was so unmotivated, sad and depressed about his son.

Not a moment went by that he hasn't thought about him.

Was he safe? Was he with Vinny?

All the questions that were aimlessly wandering about in his head could not be answered and it was driving him insane.

He just wanted to know if he was okay.

Duke and Madison felt the same.

The long sleepless nights were a gateway for bad thoughts. They couldn't help but to think the worst and it was eating away at them, day by day.

They shared a glance with each other, knowing exactly how they were feeling.

Just then, something suddenly grabbed their attention.

John, Duke and Madison looked up from the table.

A faint creamy glow began to appear in the middle of the dining-room.

Their hearts filled with hope as the light grew brighter.

then, all of sudden, their room was filled with around twenty angels.

They stood up from the table and looked around desperately.

Vinny couldn't describe how warm and complete he felt to have the familiar smell of his home fill his nostrils.

His eyes scanned the dining-room, finally feeling at peace.

But as he looked around, his eyes landed on the sight he never thought he would miss so much.

His parents.

Their eyes were big and somewhat hopeful but when they connected with Vinny's, their hearts burst in their chests.

Sparks ran through them at the excitement.

Vinny instantly pulled away from Aliyah and sprinted through the angels.

Oliver and John saw each other and did the same.

As Vinny got closer, they saw his grubby clothes and his unshaven face. They saw his tired eyes and knew they had been through a lot.

but at this moment, all they wanted to do was hug him.

They wanted physical proof that he was in the same room.

Vinny didn't slow down until he reached his mum.

He picked her up in his arms and hugged her with all the emotion he had.

Madison let the first tear of Joy slip down her cheek as she buried her face into him and hugged him extremely tight.

"My son" She sobbed as Vinny put her down but didn't let her go.

Duke then stepped forwards and joined the hug.

Vinny put an arm around him too and hugged him without holding anything back.

He didn't care that he was showing his soft side. He cared that his parents knew how much he missed them.

"Vinny, we were so worried" Duke whispered, trying to hold back his tears but Vinny had watery eyes too and it was okay to be emotional.

Vinny breathed in their familiar scent and closed his eyes.

He was finally home.

Oliver had practically jumped on his dad as John wrapped his arms around him.

"You're safe" He whispered and let the tears fall from his eye.

Oliver's heart was thumping from love and relief to be back with his family.

Corey and Panuleon watched with big smiles on their faces.

Who knew the vampire could show so much emotion.

All the angels also watched, feeling the warmth from their reunion. It's moments like this that make every life threatening situation, worth it.

"I love you both so much" Vinny mumbled into his dad's shoulder.

"We love you too," Madison said. She had streams of tears flooding her face. She was so overcome with happiness.

"I'm so glad you're safe," Duke said as he pulled his son's head up and examined his face. "I'm so glad."

Taking the opportunity for granted, they all hugged once more.

Vinny really didn't care that he was feeling somewhat vulnerable. These were his parents and he knew how much they missed him.

John was rubbing Oliver's back and taking in his familiar presence.

His son is home, safe and back in his arms.

"I love you, dad," Oliver said.

"I love you too Ollie" John replied but didn't let him go. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

Corey and Panuleon wished they had parents to miss them as much as this, but seeing the Vanderwood's reunion was almost good enough.

Vinny then pulled back and wiped the tears from his mum's face.

He gave them a warm smile, indicating how happy he truly is.

"I'm sorry we put you through this," He said, feeling a little guilty that his parents had stressed so much over this past week.

"Don't you apologise" Duke said. "You're back and that's all we care about."

Vinny released another smile. He couldn't help it, he was just so happy to be home.

John pulled away from Oliver and cupped his face in his hands.

They gave each other big smiles, knowing that was enough.

"I'm just so happy you're home" John couldn't stop beaming.

Oliver chuckled as he then caught Madison and Dukes gaze.

"Oliver," Duke said with a big smile.

He then let go of John and ran over.

Vinny stepped back as Oliver jumped on his parents.

Duke chuckled and hugged him tight. Madison joined the hug too.

They missed Oliver just as much.

Vinny then turned as a hand rested on his shoulder.

When he saw it was John, he got pulled into a hug.

This time, instead of awkwardly standing there, he hugged back.

"I'm glad you're okay," John said before patting his back.

Vinny was very thankful for everyone he has in his life.

"It's good to be home," Vinny said while pulling away.

"I bet," John said. He couldn't imagine what they have been through.

Oliver then pulled back and to Vinny's delight, he had a huge smile on his face.

"I missed you all," He said. "I've missed this house."

Vinny stepped forwards and put an arm around his lover. He kissed his temple for a long second.

Their parents missed seeing their little moments of affection.

"Me too," He said as Oliver's content eyes stared lovingly into his.

They then remembered that the room was full of angels and Corey and panuleon were visiting for the first time.

Oliver turned and motioned for them to come over.

Corey pulled on Panuleon's hand as they made their way through the angels.

He understood that their parents are vampires and he was a little daunted by that.

"This is Corey and Panuleon," Oliver said as he looked back to their parents.

They recognised the name's and knew it was the other couple that the demons had taken.

They knew these boys would've been through the same amount of chaos and they wanted to give them a warm welcome.

"Hello, it's lovely to meet you both," Madison said and pulled them into a hug.

Even Corey was shorter than her and was engulfed by her embrace but it was nice to be greeted this way.

Especially by a vampire.

"It's nice to meet you too," Panuleon said politely as he hugged her back.

She pulled away and gave them friendly smiles.

Duke then held out his hand for them to shake. It was interesting meeting people who have bonds that are just as strong as Vinny and Oliver's.

Once everyone had met, Vinny cleared his throat.

"They've come to this world to escape the demons," He said. Everyone knew that wasn't the whole reason as to why they are here, but he wasn't quite ready to tell his parents. "And they need a place to live-"

"Of course!" Madison interrupted. "You can live with us, that's not a problem."

Duke chuckled at her enthusiasm but he too was just as happy that his son had returned.

For some reason, the couple didn't think it would be that easy for them to be accepted into their home.

"Are you definitely sure that's okay?" Corey asked.

Although, just looking around the grand dining room had him excited. It was huge with a massive chandelier. The ceiling was very tall with windows that stretched all the way up. They had couches and a big wooden dining table.

He couldn't believe someone would have a dining room this big and he really wanted to see the rest of the house or mansion, by the looks of it.

"Absolutely. We have more than enough room for you both and we always appreciate the extra company" Duke smiled.

Panuleon and Corey felt their hearts finally relax.

This was their new home.

It felt very good knowing they had somewhere to live in a demon-free world.

"Thank you so much" Corey smiled.

"You're more than welcome," Madison said and returned the smile.

Jed and Zachariah walked over, now that everything had calmed down.

Everyone felt very relieved that the angels were okay.

"You don't have to worry about anything. The war is finished" Jed said.

John, Madison, and Duke shared a glance.

"Thank god" John sighed happily before pulling Oliver away from Vinny and hugging him again.

Duke and Madison quickly hugged their son, knowing it won't be long until he turned into his usual grumpy state.

Vinny lasted a few seconds before attempting to pull back.

"Okay, that's enough," He said but his parents didn't let go. Vinny's famous glare came back to his face. Duke and Madison were surprised that they missed that.

Zachariah was proud that he and all the other angels were able to do their job and bring the boys back to safety.

"Really, I need a shower" Vinny said which did eventually make Madison and Duke pull away.

"Yes, you really do" Duke chuckled.

Vinny's frown didn't change as he took Oliver back from John.

"Take Corey and pan-uleon with you so they can have a wash too," Madison said, only just able to pronounce the angels name correctly.

Oliver nodded as he turned to the couple. They all couldn't wait to wash and change into fresh clothes.

Jenny then quickly walked over and handed Corey a bag.

She had packed him some clothes, knowing he wouldn't be able to borrow anyone else's as they'll be too big for him. Also, she thought it would be nice for him to have some of his own belongings.

"Thank you" He smiled.

John, Duke and Madison knew they'd have to meet all the angels while the boys were getting a wash.

But they didn't mind, they wanted to say thank you to the angels who kept their children safe.
