Chapter 24
Oliver felt like his whole body and mind was taken over by an unknown force.
He couldn't control anything anymore as he stared at the demon leader.
Jed was still running towards them but in his mind, everything looked like it was going in slow motion.
He could feel something in the pit of his stomach and he could feel it beginning to rise.
He didn't know what it was but he knew he wouldn't be able to hold it back. The power had to be unleashed and it had to put an end to this war.
Vinny was drifting in and out of unconsciousness.
In the back of his mind, he could feel that something was wrong with his soulmate and he knew how much danger everyone was in. But he was badly injured and finding it incredibly hard to open his eyes.
Every time he did, he saw Oliver's feet and needed to be with him.
The gold in Oliver's eyes continued to grow as the angel let go of him. But before she could run or do anything else, he felt the power.
It was leaking into his bloodstream and taking over his senses. He lifted his hands as he felt strong.
He wasn't controlling what he was doing, he just accepted it and let it take over his body.
Just like a mini explosion, the power burst from within.
An invisible force flashed from his body and rippled through the room.
He pushed the angel, creating her to flown right across the room.
Jed dived to the ground as Panuleon grabbed Corey and also pushed him to the ground.
They both covered their heads as the demons got hit with the force and thrown back too.
The rest of the angels dropped to the ground as Oliver cried in pain.
The power was taking everything he had.
Vinny was just able to open his eyes as it felt like a powerful wind washed through the room.
He was only just able to look up.
He gasped when his eyes fell on the magnificent sight.
Oliver was crying out but there was gold drifting all around him. The invisible force could be seen, flying through the room.
Oliver's eyes were pure gold as nothing stood in his way.
He was in control.
He was ending this war all by himself.
Jed covered his head when candles were flown through the room.
The main point was Oliver as he subconsciously targeted the demon leader.
The force was in her bones and applying pressure to her skull. She couldn't breathe, think or even scream.
She clung to her head but it became too much.
Her skull cracked and the life was instantly sucked from her body.
She was dead.
The other demons had already died from the force but Oliver didn't know how to stop.
He was in so much pain from showing everything he had.
It was taking his strengths and all his anger.
Everyone in the room heard his screams, so did Vinny.
But he was barely hanging on and a few more seconds went by until he passed out completely.
Oliver dropped to his knees as his body was drained.
Just as quickly as it had come, the power vanished, instantly leaving the room silent and still.
Oliver laid on the ground.
He was weak, barely even conscious and incredibly confused as to what just happened.
Corey knew exactly what had happened as he lost himself to the power before. But he never used it in such a way that he could destroy an angel.
Oliver must be mentally stronger than he thinks.
As Jed lifted his head, Oliver closed his eyes and let himself slip into an unconscious state.
He looked around as his ears rang with the sound of silence.
The demons lay, perished, as did the angel.
The war was won and it was all thanks to Oliver.
* * * * *
The angels sat in the abandoned house.
Oliver had been unconscious for two days.
When Jed got up, after Oliver's outburst, they carried him and Vinny and searched for more demons. They found a group of them, cowering in a computer room.
Now that they didn't have a leader, they were fearful.
The angels held them prisoner as they could close the tear between the two worlds.
They were chained up in a different room as everyone was waiting for Oliver to wake up.
Corey reassured them that it was normal for him to be unconscious for two days because he was too, the first time he properly unleashed his power.
When Vinny woke up, he was instantly healed by Panuleon.
So he was now sitting by Oliver's side, holding his hand and trying to wait as patiently as he could.
Aliyah had checked both boys to see if their babies were okay and of course, they were just fine.
Vinny was incredibly worried. He thought what he saw was a dream, but he was told that it did really happen and Oliver did really kill an angel and all those demons just by unleashing something nobody thought he had.
It was ridiculous to believe, but Oliver really did stop the war with a force that he didn't know existed.
So, that's what happens to him when he gets pushed past his breaking point.
Vinny was incredibly worried about his soulmate. It had been two whole days since he last saw his beautiful green eyes and his smile. He couldn't wait to hear his voice.
Jed was sitting on the other side of him.
A huge weight had been lifted off everyone's shoulders as there was no more war.
But nobody would be fully satisfied until Oliver was up, walking and talking.
Vinny's mind kept skimming over the fact that Oliver was carrying a child, but like Jed suggested, he shouldn't think about it until he got home.
He didn't know how to tell his parents. But he did know that he would wait until it had sunken in for them before they are told.
He looked up to Panuleon and Corey who were snuggled close and talking with each other.
He knew his parents wouldn't mind their company and he was glad that he could offer them a home.
He couldn't wait to leave this world.
Zachariah wasn't here as he had gone to talk to his soulmate about moving.
They hoped she was okay with it so Zachariah could continue to do his job.
Vinny then let his gaze wander back to his soulmate. He looked so peaceful as he ran a gentle hand through his hair.
"Are you excited to go back home?" Jed asked before crossing his legs.
Vinny nodded as he took hold of Oliver's hand in both of his.
"yes, I miss my parents," He said truthfully.
"I never thought I'd hear you say that."
Vinny almost smiled, but he then caught sight of his soulmate, beginning to frown.
"Oliver?" He questioned before leaning over him.
Oliver could barely move, he felt so tired and so emotionally run down but he heard Vinny's voice and that gave him a little push to open his eyes.
His vision was blurry and he could only keep them open for a second before his eyelids became too heavy to hold open.
"Water" He whispered.
Jed turned and quickly picked up a bottle of water.
"You'll have to sit up to drink it," He said as Vinny slowly lifted him and slid underneath his body.
His legs were on either side of him as Oliver's back rested against his chest and his head rested on the side of Vinny's face.
He didn't have the strength to hold himself up.
He felt so weak.
Panuleon walked over, wanting to check if he was fully healed.
"May I?" He questioned before kneeling next to him.
Vinny nodded as he held the bottle up to his soulmates lips.
He coughed on it at first but managed to pace himself and drink slowly.
Panuleon rested his hand on Oliver's forehead, closed his eyes and really focused on the human.
He let his cooling energy flow around his body.
Oliver closed his eyes, feeling himself relax.
He had so many questions but knew it would be easier for him to ask them when he has more energy.
Corey sat down next to Jed and waited.
He knew Oliver was alright, but he would be confused and he had slept for a long time.
"He's completely fine, just emotionally tired," Panuleon said, making the Vampire nod once more.
Oliver then started worrying about everyone else as his exhausted eyes flickered open.
"Vinny?" He whispered.
"I'm right here" Vinny soothed before wrapping his arms around his waist. "Everyone's okay and the war is over."
Oliver couldn't describe how amazing it felt to hear those words. But how did the war finish?
"What happened?" He croaked.
"You don't remember?" Jed asked.
Oliver slowly shook his head as Vinny turned and looked into his eyes.
He expected gold to be swirling in them but the power was gone.
It must be buried deep down and not just on the surface like Corey's is.
Jed then explained how Vinny got hurt and he started freaking out. He told him how the demon leader grabbed him but the power was starting to rise. He told him how an indescribable force burst from him and killed every enemy in the room like he could somehow target who to kill.
Oliver didn't like that he killed so many people, but they would've hurt him and tortured him. So it was self-defence.
He was more interested in this power. How did he do that? Maybe he was just too overwhelmed and angry because Vinny was hurt that he couldn't hold it back.
He wished he could remember.
He listened as Jed told him how he picked them both up and took some demons and brought them back here.
"So, we can go home now?" He asked quietly.
"Yes, but we'll wait for Zachariah and also until you regain your strengths," Jed said.
Oliver nodded and attempted to sit up but he gave in and rested back into Vinny.
"How long was I like this for?"
"Two days" Corey said.
Oliver raised his eyebrows. The look of shock made Corey chuckle.
"Really?"
Vinny kissed his temple.
"I'm glad you've had a lot of rest," He said softly.
Oliver's mind skimmed over everything that had happened to them while they were here. His heart almost stopped when he remembered the most shocking thing of all.
His child.
That hit him like a ton of bricks but on the outside, he remained calm.
Vinny felt his sudden burst of nerves and he knew it was because of that realisation.
"Don't think about it right now, we'll have plenty of time for that when we're home" He whispered.
Although, it has been flooding his mind over the past few days. It was incredibly hard to just ignore something so big and so life changing.
"Okay," Oliver said before taking his hand.
He couldn't wait to see his dad. He couldn't wait to be in his own world and back in the familiar surroundings of the mansion. He couldn't wait to get into the huge poster bed and take morning showers with his soulmate.
But most of all, he couldn't wait to be surrounded with what he calls,
home.
