Chapter 17

Corey wrapped his legs around Panuleon's waist and buried his face into his chest. They are aware that company has arrived but at this moment, each other was more important.

When the angels gaze turned to Vinny and Oliver, they gripped each other tighter and stood up.

So many angels were in the same room and it was quite daunting.

Vinny felt like the odd one out, being the only Vampire. He wondered if the angels were judging him or not.

He realised that the power he once held in his own world meant nothing here.

But the angels respected Vinny and they knew how strong minded and wise he was. Some vampires can tend to let the authority of being in charge get inside their heads but Vinny hadn't.

And they liked that about him.

Jed was making his way around, hugging the angels.

So was Zachariah.

They were excited about their appearances and it was very nice to see them coming together to help.

Vinny had noticed that angels are very affectionate people. He hoped they didn't greet everyone with a hug. Although he is extremely happy they are here.

As the Angels looked between the two couples, nobody cared that the two most unique and special bonds in both worlds are same-sex relationships.

It was something that they didn't feel was a problem. Why should it? They're just in love.

They knew that Corey and Panuleon would need time together after being so far apart, so some of them made their way over to Vinny and Oliver.

"Hello, it's an honour to meet you at last," A woman said as she rested a kind hand on their shoulders.

Oliver smiled as Vinny tried to soften his gaze but he was very much aware that they are still somewhat in danger.

"Are you here to help?" Oliver asked as he looked at the other faces.

"Yes, the demons have gone too far this time," A man said as he stood with a presence of calm, drifting all around him. "They need to be stopped."

"They do," Jed said as he came over and stood by the boys.

It was nice for them to have someone so familiar to help guide them through this process.

To Vinny, Jed was like a member of the family. But he'd probably never tell him that.

"What are the plans?"

"For now, to let the boys rest," An angel said. "They have no doubt been through a tough few days. They need time to regain their strengths."

Jed thought that was a great idea as Zachariah came over and stood by Oliver.

"There's enough of us to keep watch on the outside world. Take as much time as you need" He said with a warm smile.

Oliver then felt himself relax, which he hasn't done in a few days. Vinny could feel his soulmates emotions calm down and he couldn't help but do the same.

The angels were on their side and that was incredibly reassuring.

Oliver watched as Corey curled up on Panuleon's lap.

He thought their relationship was incredibly cute. Maybe that's what people thought about his and Vinny's relationship.

He then leant down and picked up some water and some food.

Vinny didn't want to let go of his hand, so they walked through the angels and headed over to the other couple.

Panuleon watched them come over, he was happy that they were together.

"Um, we brought you some food," Oliver said as Corey lifted his head and rubbed his exhausted eyes.

"Thank you" He smiled as he took it gratefully.

Oliver didn't know if they wanted to talk or just be with themselves for a while, so he turned to go back to the angels.

"How're you both doing?" Corey asked, seeing his hesitation.

Vinny felt that his soulmate was happy to talk as they sat down in front of them.

"We're good," They said in unison.

Corey smiled and rested his back into Panuleon's chest.

"You do that a lot."

"Yeah," They said again.

Vinny looked at Oliver before putting his arm around his shoulders, pulling him into his side.

"That's Oliver's words. Sometimes I can't hold them back, even if I don't want to talk."

"Wow really? that's so weird" Corey chuckled which was like velvet to Panuleon's senses.

"It's not weird, you two can read each other's minds" Oliver grinned.

Vinny couldn't take his gaze away from him. It was so great to see him happy, even for a little while.

"True," Panuleon smiled as he gave Corey a bottle of water.

"How're you both doing?" Oliver asked.

"So much better now that we're together," Corey said as he looked up to his angel.

Panuleon leant down and planted a kiss onto his forehead.

"I bet, it must have been horrible for you."

Corey nodded while Panuleon wrapped his arms around him, holding him securely into his body.

"Yeah, but we're together again and safe for now."

It was nice for both couples to talk to other people who understood their bond.

They understood the need to be so close and so affectionate, they understood how each other's mind was basically the same and they understood that it was absolutely necessary to make that physical touch.

Jed watched the boys in-between speaking to the other angels.

He was so glad that they found them and he couldn't wait to meet Panuleon and Corey properly.

The first thing he noticed was how small Corey was. He was a petite person and seeing him sitting in-between Panuleon's crossed legs made them look incredibly sweet together.

He has heard from Zachariah that he is a tough fighter and he knows Panuleon would've made sure he was ready for the demons.

He then watched as Oliver talked to Corey and Vinny stared at his soulmate. He wished he could get in touch with the Vanderwood's and tell them that their children are okay.

They must be worried out of their minds.

Vinny looked at Oliver's big green eyes.

He could listen to his voice all day.

Panuleon noticed that the only time Vinny wasn't glaring at someone was when he was looking at Oliver.

He wanted to know more about the vampire but sure enough, Corey would get round to asking him lots of questions.

"So, are your parents still with you?" Oliver asked.

Corey did just ask him about his parents and he told him about His dad and Vinny's parents. He told him how his dad was turned into a vampire so he could live a long life.

This made Vinny remember the dream once more as he looked at the angel. He knew his name was familiar and he wanted to ask him about how he managed to help someone from another world.

"No, my parents passed away a long time ago. They still lived a regular human life."

Oliver nodded, showing he understood. He did lose his mum a long time ago too.

"But they knew they wouldn't live long compared to us so they made us get married when I was technically still seventeen" Corey chuckled.

Vinny noticed now that they had wedding rings on.

"Was that so they could be there?" Oliver asked.

"Yeah, it was the same for Panuleon's parents."

They both looked to the angel with confusion.

"Your parents were human?" They asked in sync, creating Corey to smile once more. He found it amusing that they did that.

"No, my parents were born and raised in heaven. But when an angel gives birth, their child is taken away and they're not allowed to see them as it distracts them from their duties" Panuleon said. He paused to make sure they understood. "But my parents searched for me after I was taken and took me from Zachariah's care. They then got banished to earth for breaking the rules and stripped of their powers."

"So they were turned human?" Oliver asked.

"Almost, it took their bodies a long time to adapt to the earth's climate but when I came to earth at the age of eighteen, they were only just starting to age like humans."

Corey was thinking about his parents and he thought about them being with him in spirit. He didn't know if he believed in ghosts or not but it was comforting to think that his mum and dad were watching over him.

Oliver felt a little sorry for them. They've lost their parents, but at least they still have each other.

"Panuleon, can I ask you something?" Vinny then asked.

The angel nodded as Oliver looked to his soulmate, wondering what he was going to say.

"Many years ago, before we even knew about this war, you came to me and Oliver in a dream" Oliver and Corey frowned at this, but Panuleon's face remained mutual. "How did you do that?"

Oliver couldn't remember the dream so he was quite confused.

Panuleon cleared his throat, getting ready to explain.

"When I connected the bond with Corey, I knew about the war and I knew about the both of you," He said. "There's a reason as to why we are all here and why our connections are so special. Sometimes at night, when I meditate, I saw visions of you both and one night I saw the distress that you were going through and realised that I could help. So I did."

Corey looked up to his angel with an interested frown.

"You never told me that."

Panuleon ran a gentle hand through his soulmates hair.

"It was hard keeping it from you as I wasn't allowed to think about it because you could hear me" Panuleon smiled. "But I didn't want you to worry about what the demons were up to."

Panuleon did tell Corey about the war only a few weeks ago.

"I understand," Corey said as he returned the smile.

Over the past two thousand years, they've lived the best life. They had the freedom to travel the world and spend every second of every day with each other. But the occasional demon would come and cause a little blip in their wonderful life.

"You could see us?" Oliver questioned.

"Yes, but only when I thought very deeply about the other world. I don't know how or why we are connected in this way."

Vinny wanted explanations for all of this but he knew the time would come and they would all understand why they are so different.

The angels were trying not to listen to their conversations but they knew why the boys were so special and there was a reason for it all.

Both couples were supposed to meet.

In some fundamental way, their lives are supposed to cross paths.

And they knew why.
