Chapter 3
"Ok, people, we're fighting against glass creations that are extremely annoying when you come to think of it. I just want to get this over with as soon as possible. Anyone got any ideas?" I asked.
"We still have a lot to learn about those crystals. It could take days to find out everything that we need." Kurai answered.
"Or... We could simply wing it and attach the crystals to a weapon to see what it does. Who knows, maybe it can upgrade a lot of stuff." Shibaki suggested.
"Kinda like this?" I asked after jamming the crystal into a rail gun.
"You're insane, aren't you?" Rojin smirked.
The rail gun seemed to change figures to fit with the newly inserted crystal. It's figure looked like a normal rail gun but the crystals made it look like if spikes were being encrusted along the sides.
"Pretty much." I smiled as I held the gun close to my face.
"What else can the crystals do?" Shibaki asked.
I pulled the crystal out of the gun, causing it to turn back to it's original form. I looked around to see if I could find a good test subject for the next potential upgrade.
"Gyah!" I grunted as I jammed the crystal into my armor.
"He's gonna get himself killed!" Riuyo panicked.
"Just a friendly reminder... I'm already dead to begin with." I chuckled demonically.
"That's just down right scary." Shibaki shuddered.
My armor changed in appearance, strength, weight, design and even colors. Now it was a blood red armor with black outlines, spiked extremities, tougher defense plates, hidden crystal weapons and a bunch of other upgrades that were too many to name in a sentence.
"Kurai, you have to try this. It's really amazing." I chuckled as I tried to contain my excitement.
"Fine, but I better have the same upgrades that you got." He scoffed.
"Ooh... Flamethrower." I said in awe as I pointed the flamethrower at my face.
"It's a good thing he's fireproof." Jinriu sighed.
"Why would you say that?" Kaede asked before I blasted myself with a stream of fire.
"That's why." Jinriu smirked.
"Yukai, you should play with the flamethrower too. The fire tastes good." I smiled.
"No thanks. I would like to keep my face how it is." He shuddered.
"You know we have fireproof scales, right?" I asked.
"Yeah. I just don't have the amount of crazy that you have." He replied coldly.
"Hey, it's a blessing called sense of humor. Unlike you, cursed with the hater disease." I barked back.
The whole room just froze and everyone stared at us. I could feel a slight increase of the tension in the room. We just stared until I broke the silence.
"I didn't want to say this, but something has been bothering you lately and you try to keep it hidden. My question is, what's bothering you?" I said in a cracked voice.
"I... I'm... You know how we're hybrids, you, Kurai and I. Well... To be honest... I'm loosing my powers." Yukai confessed.
"Impossible. I made sure to use eternal magic. It would take months to dispel the first set of codes. Why would you keep it hidden?" I asked as I stated to tear up.
"He's not really loosing his powers, is he?" Kurai asked.
"If there's no third hybrid, who knows what would happen?" Shibaki puzzled.
"I didn't know what it was until we got here from the fight." Yukai explained.
"Let's go to Gotsuki. She'll get that checked out." I said without letting anyone see my expression.
We arrived at the area where Gotsuki would hang out. As usual, she was talking with Kiru about how much things have changed. The first thing that actually did change was the expression on Gotsuki's face when she saw my emotional state.
"Ok, that's it, tell me who died in the anime that we were watching." She sighed.
"That's not it." Kuriagi explained.
"Oh, so you weren't watching the sneak peeks to spoil the series for me?" She asked.
"No." I sniffled.
"Did anyone try to mess with you? Because if anyone did, I swear I'm going to unleash all the wrath of the flaming depths of hell on the lowlife that tried to do so." She ranted.
"The reason he's like that is because of me." Yukai explained.
"Oh, so you're responsible?" She asked calmly.
"Yes." Yukai confirmed.
"Oh... Well... In that case............ SOMEONE HOLD ME BEFORE I RIP THIS IDIOT TO SHREDS!!!" She yelled in a demonic manner, causing Kiru to react instantly.
"And there flies the wrath of the flaming depths of hell." Kurai shuddered.
"She'd make one hell of a great mother. Her maternal instincts are on point." Kiru chuckled as he desperately tried to contain Gotsuki.
"Gotsuki, he says he's loosing his powers." Kurai said as he calmed Gotsuki down.
Gotsuki blew off some steam before grabbing Yukai and dragging him across the floor to where she examines the guards.
"You seem to be getting paler. Getting enough sleep?" She asked.
"Yeah. I was fine before the fight. The pain started after. Normally, I would be healed by now, but it feels like if I was being burned from the inside out." He explained.
"I see... Shards. Did you get wounded in the fight?" She asked.
"Yeah. I got cut a bunch of times with the crystals." He replied.
"It's Kurai all over again." Riuyo sighed
"No. It's not. Kurai had a stalagmite lodged in his neck from the cave of darkness. Yukai doesn't have anything lodged in his body." Gotsuki pointed out.
"The crystals are responsible for this." Kaede interrupted. "They are used in many ways. One of them is by melting. Even if Yukai has nothing lodged in his body, he's still poisoned by the glass shard. I might know a way to stop it but it's risky."
"Well then? What's your plan?" We all ask simultaneously.
"We have to talk with the one person who controls crystals. We need help from... The tyrant who killed my family." Kaede replied with a slight shiver.
