"Queen Star! Queen Star!"
"ACTING queen!" Star warned her servant for the millionth time already, doing her best to believe her words.
It has barely been a day since Star lost her wand, and the whole Meteora debacle, and Glossaryck somehow talking, and so on. Her kingdom is already screaming out her name whenever someone stubs a toe, and Star is not yet ready to grow up, so she is silently freaking out and presuading herself that she is only ACTING queen and that this will only last until her mom comes back, which is hopefully soon.
"My apologies, acting queen. The Lucitor kingdom has sent more troops to help repairs, they are on their way."
"Ok, and my name had to be screamed why?" Star said as she rubbed her aching temples.
"My apologies, acting-"
"Save it. Send a big thanks to Tom for me, ok?"
"Yes, acting queen!" The servant replied gleefully as he skipped away humming a tune Star dreaded of; the Royal Coronation ritual.
She groaned as she quickly stormed away, not being able to hear another second of that awful melody. She wasn't ready for this, nope! Not now, not tomorrow, not soon! She knew why the servant was humming it. Thanks to her father's influence her people have learned to party away their troubles, and for the troubles they have recently been through, they would have to throw a massive one. Since Star is not getting married probably ever (that's what she thinks), putting a crown on top of her head was the only other option they had. However, just because they wanted it, didn't mean Star was okay with that.
"MARCO!" She screamed as she stormed into his room unannounced, as usual.
"STAR?!" Marco screeched back as he fell off his chair, the laser puppy in his hands running away, shooting even more holes through his room, which he desperately tried to patch up.
"MARCO JR.!!! GET BACK HERE!!!" Marco screamed in vain, the puppy was long gone. He sighed, got up, and put his chair back up.
"Are you done?"
"Yeah."
"MARCO, I CAN'T DO THIS! THIS IS TOO MUCH! HOW DID MOM DO THIS, UGH! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RULE, I MISS MY WAND, WHAT THE WHAT GLOSSARYCK, AND I DON'T WANNA BE QUEEN!" Star screamed as she stomped angirly through the room.
"Wow, Star! Take it easy, it'll be ok!"
"NO IT WON'T! I AM BEING FORCED TO DO SOMETHING I AM NOT READY TO DO! HECK I SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ON THE THRONE!"
"Then abdicate." Marco shrugged casually.
"WHAT?! ARE YOU CRAZY?!" Star now stomped up to him and gripped his hoodie.
"THAT IS OUT OF THE QUESTION!"
Marco raised up his hands in defense and smiled nervously while trying to comfort her.
"Then don't worry Star. You have Tom and me to help you. River might know a thing or two too, I doubt your mom ruled alone. Calm down and we'll get through this. We'll find your mom, and even if we don't, we will make sure you become Mewni's greatest queen." He finished with a smile.
Star just sighed, and let him go. She knew he wanted to make her feel better, but it didn't, really. How will a demon prince, a normal human and a party animal/king going to teach her anything? The only ones that could are her mom and Glossaryck, but we both know that is impossible in her current situation.
"Come on, Star, we can do it! I believe in you! Hugs?" Marco spread his arms wide, confident in his best friend/crush.
"Hugs." Star replied in a less than enthusiastic tone and hugged Marco tight, afraid he will be taken away too if she let him go. Oh, Marco. Out of 99 of her problems, he is the cause of a solid 95. She isn't looking forward to dealing with them, ever, especially since losing her best friend is a high risk.
"QUEEN STAR! QUEEN STAR!" The same servant from before ran into the room, holding a piece of paper by its tip.
"ACTING-What is it? Come on, I have no time to waste!" Star pushed Marco away from her, agitated by the servant even more so than before. The servant shakily handed her the paper before high tailing it out of there like the soles of his feet were on fire.
Star read the paper quickly before tearing it apart and stomping out of Marco's room, slamming the door shut in the process. Marco fell down to the floor, his face landing into the soft matress of his bed. A laser puppy jumped out from his hiding place under his pillow and licked Marco's hair happily while wagging his tail.
With a heavy sigh, he turned and looked at the puppy who sat down and barked loudly.
"I know puppy, I should cheer up. But ever since Ruberiot's wedding I just can't stop thinking about the kiss. Did I really think the booth was magic?"
The puppy tilted his head and barked, not concerned by Marco's inner turmoil. Marco chuckled and picked up the little one in his hands.
"Come on, let's go find your brother."
With Star
Star tried her best, but failed, at making a successful hair bun, so she let her hair flow down, now more concerned with straightening the creases of her dress. She was so busy with that whole ordeal that she didn't even notice Tom's carriage stop in front of her, until the door opened.
Star jumped back a little, but soon climbed into the large space inside the carriage. In the middle of the room was a romantic table set for two, with a flower arrangement in the middle, and a red table cloth draped over it. Tom was sitting at the table, dressed in a black tux like he is for most of their dates. However, his expression wasn't bright and cheery like most of the time. His dark, gloomy stare came down upon her like a set of bricks. She just put him aside!
Star quickly took her place across from him, and started sputtering out apologies:
"Tom! I'm so sorry! I am trying to get my kingdom together and find my mom and control my dad and keep everything under control and repair the castle and make peace with the eagles and-"
"Starshine, you know I don't do politics." Tom interrupted her calmly, sliding slightly backwards.
"Oh, right. Sorry."
"Besides, I was there. I knew what happened. You don't need to apologise for that."
"Heheh, ok." Star swallowed, before looking at him again. Tom's dark mood hadn't changed one bit, so she asked:
"Then why the long face?"
Tom hmped and stood up, walked to a mini fridge he had and pulled out a coke bottle. He opened it and turned his back to Star while sipping slowly from the bottle. As he did this, he asked her:
"Why did you cheat on me?"
Star was dumbfounded for a second. Cheat? She didn't cheat...Ooooh. Oh, he found out about the booth somehow! Star opened her mouth to explain, but Tom cut her off.
"Don't waste your breath, Marco confessed he kissed you. I just want to know why you let him do it."
"What? Tom, he wanted to help! You see, we thought the booth was magic, and-"
"A booth? He kissed you in a booth!" Tom swiftly turned around, his eyes wide in brimming anger.
" A PHOTO BOOTH! The one that was on Ruberiot's wedding! We were taking pictures and-"
"HE DRAGGED YOU IN THERE TO KISS YOU?!" Tom stomped back to the table, now livid.
"No! I dragged him in there! I wanted to take besties photos but we took too many photos and the booth broke down-"
"So he took his chance and kissed you in the booth! How dare he?!" Tom's anger was rapidly rising, which was clearly shown in his reddening eyes.
"UGH, STOP INTERRUPTING ME! WE GOT STUCK IN THE BOOTH, WE THOUGHT THE BOOTH WAS MAGIC AND THIS GNOME TRIED TO FIX IT ON THE OUTSIDE WHILE WE DID ON THE INSIDE! MARCO WAS JUST BEING A GOOD SQUIRE!" Star yelled loudly, red in the face.
Tom made a low growl and clenched his fist.
"Since when do squires kiss their knights?!"
"I am not a knight!"
"Still, he could have found a different solution!"
Star was ready to get into a fight, but then she snapped. Why should she tolerate this? He has no right on calling her out and not believing her. She stood up slowly, head raised high.
"Tom, I don't have to listen to this. We'll talk once you cool down. Goodbye."
And she walked out swiftly, swinging her purse over her shoulder. However, she failed to notice a paper flying out of the purse and landing on the floor.
Once Star left the carriage, it drove off with an angered prince wrecking its inside. Once he calmed down slightly, he sat down on the couch and looked at the floor. Star is being really difficult lately. He gazed around the room, before noticing the small paper on the ground. He walked over to it and lifted it off the ground.
Once he took a better look, he let out another low growl. She kept the photos of their kiss! He carefully looked at each one, scrutinizing Marco with his three eyes, until the last picture. His mouth gaped in shock, and he dropped the photos like they were made out of the most foul thing on the planet.
He stumbled backwards, his two main eyes avoiding the pictures, looking anywhere but there, while his third eye stared into the last picture...
...and Marco's glowing crescent moon on his cheek.
