Chapter 18:End of The Road
An old car drove through the street. Rex and Lester sat. They saw how even the simple fields have changed. It is 1999. Rex retired from playing snooker years ago, and Lester retired in 1997. The snooker world they were used to changed; the standard rose heavily. All players from their generation have retired; only Julian remained. Even he is struggling to keep his spot in the top 16.
The car stopped, and they walked forward, stopping at the grave of their friend Angus. Angus was buried next to his family. They stared at the grave in silence before Rex spoke, "been a while."
"Yes... it indeed has." Rex had gone full bald, and his fingers have become crooked. Lester's hair started to turn gray, and he started wearing glasses.
Lester touched the scars on his mouth and chin from the torture they endured a decade ago. "You alright Lester? Your scars."
"Oh, it's okay Rex. I've... gotten used to them... the pain has disappeared..." Silence again before Rex pulled out a single rose and gently placed it on the grave. "Rest easy big man"
