Chapter Six

Thalia

The ride to Peter's home was silent. Hip hop music blasted over the speakers as we sped through the city. One thing I noticed about Peter was that he liked to drive fast. Like, REALLY fast. It was kind of scary.

He let the windows down so that our hair could air dry. It sort of worked. It was still damp by the time we arrived, but it wasn't fully dry. I noticed a new car was parked in the garage, probably Leo's.

We got out of the car and made our way to the door.

Corey instantly opened the door for us. "Good luck." He mouthed. As soon as we entered the door, I heard yelling.

"Is he FUCKING kidding me?" The person put emphasis on the word 'fucking'. "He knows how important stuff like this is! What is his damn problem! We could have lost people! People could have died! A MILLION things could have gone wrong! And where was he? Gallivanting around the city with his newest bitch!"

I scowled. I had no clue who this person was, but I knew I hated them already.

"Leo, dear calm down. There's no need for that." I heard Mrs. Ronan say.

"No mom! I CAN'T calm down! Do you have any clue how much he just fucked up?"

"Did we lose any products?" another female voice asked.

"No." the male voice, presumably Leo, responded.

"Do we have the money in its full amount?"

"Yes."

"Is anyone dead?"

"No."

"Then why the fuck are you mad at him? He's a KID Leo! He's twenty-two! You shouldn't have roped him into this in the first place!"

"Dad would have wanted him in it. It's a family business. Kid or no, It's his responsibility to be a part of it."

"Bullshit." The female voice seethed.

Peter and I walked into the living room to see Mrs. Ronan, Rhys, and two strangers, one man and one woman, all talking, well, arguing.

Peter cleared his throat and all eyes turned to us. The mysterious man had sharp, clear futures with piercing royal blue eyes that reminded me of the ocean. He had slicked back brown hair and reminded me of Peter in a sense. But his suit and tired eyes told me he was a worker. He must be Leo.

The woman beside Mrs. Ronan wore a blue jean jacket over a white crop top and a black skirt with black heels. Her brown eyes were the same chocolate shade as Mrs. Ronan and her long chestnut brown hair hung loose over her shoulders. Compared to her, I honestly probably looked like a trash gremlin. Fiona, I mentally guessed.

Well damn. I looked over at Peter from the corner of my eye, then back at his family, who observed us intently. Was that a genetic thing? Did all these hoes look like Greek gods? How unfair!

"Where the hell have you been? Why are you two wet?" Leo demanded angrily, his nostrils flaring.

"Swimming." Peter answered simply.

"Didn't I tell you to be here when I got back?" Leo's eyes flashed and I shrank back a bit. I had no clue how Peter was being so calm right now. Maybe intensity ran in the family when it came to the men.

"I don't think you have the authority to boss me around." Peter retorted.

"Listen here," Leo began, scowling, "I do NOT have time to be dealing with your shit. That's always been your problem! You've always thought you were untouchable because you were the baby!"

"That's NOT fucking true!" Peter said, taking a step closer to Leo.

"Yes it is! You've never had a sense of responsibility! It's always been parties, drunken splendors, and sluts with you!" Leo's eyes met mine and I instantly felt small. "You know, you bringing her home is just proving my point. How many times has he slept with you this week?" He asked me.

"Leo. Thalia is a guest here. We're letting her stay until she can get back on her feet." Mrs. Ronan said.

"So, we're letting homeless people wear Fiona's clothes now?" Leo asked.

"I may be homeless, but at least I have manners, you dick." I seethed before I could even stop myself.

All eyes turned towards me and I instantly regretted my words.

Leo scoffed. "Great! And she's got a mouth! I'm sorry, who even invited her into the conversation?"

"Oh, so you're used to just talking shit about people and not having them retaliate?"

"Sweetheart, you're lucky. Most people don't even have the balls to retaliate when it comes to this family. And if they do, they learn to never do it again." Leo spat.

"Well there's a first time for everything, you entitled asshole. Now why don't you take that Rolex on your wrist, and shove it up your ass along with your bitchy attitude because one thing you're gonna figure out about me is that I do NOT tolerate when people talk shit about me."

The room got dead silent as Leo and I glared at each other angrily. I don't know who he thought he was, but I was NOT going to roll over and let him do this to me. Rich or not, an asshole was an asshole and I HATED assholes.

"I think I like her already." Fiona smirked, crossing her arms.

"That's what I said!" Rhys chirped.

Leo sighed angrily and rolled his eyes. "You know what, Peter can you please talk with me in the other room?"

Peter looked at me before following Leo up stairs.

"Don't worry about him." Fiona said, drawing my attention away from the boy's receding forms and towards her. "Leo is usually like, super polite. He's just tense. Peter forgot to do something super important and now Leo's taking out his anger on everyone. When he's angry, he's a force to be reckoned with. I've never seen anyone stand up to him when he's pissed. That was badass."

"Thanks." I said simply.

She extended hand. "I'm Fiona and I think you're about to become my new best friend."

I laughed. "I'm Thalia." I said, shaking her soft hand.

"No fair! She's my best friend!" Rhys pouted.

"Well, she's just been stolen." Fiona smirked, sticking out her tongue sassily.

Mrs. Ronan chuckled and Corey rolled his eyes.
