Chapter Four
Thalia
"So where are we headed?" Rhys asked, turning around to face me as Peter pulled out of his driveway, which was unnecessarily long by the way.
"I was hoping to do some job hunting, you know? I want to get out of you guys' hair as soon as possible." I said, playing with the sleeves of the sweater I was wearing.
"Awe! She doesn't like us guys!" Rhys pouted playfully.
"It is not like that." I said with a smile.
"Oh it totally is." Corey smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "I just don't like depending on people, okay? It's weird."
"Just let her go job hunting." Peter said to Rhys with a pointed look. He turned back to me. "Do you have a resume or something?"
I blinked. I actually didn't. But I kept a digital version of it on my phone. "Oh shit! I left my phone!" I exclaimed.
"Wait, you mean like, at the club?" Rhys asked.
I rubbed the back of my neck sheepishly. "Maybe?"
Peter face palmed. "Of all the stupid shit-"
"Hey! I was drunk!" I defended.
"Which is why you shouldn't get drunk!" Peter snapped at me.
"Well I'm sorry, but I didn't expect for you and your gang of foreign models to sweep me up out of the club!" I retorted.
"Yeah well these foreign models were just looking out for you! What would have happened if we just ignored that guy following you?"
"I...I..." I tried to think. Nine times out of ten, it was probably something bad.
"Exactly!" Peter turned back around in his seat, his point made. "Whatever. Let's just go get her phone from the club."
The tension in the car was so thick, you could cut it with a butter knife. I crossed my arms and stared out the window angrily. Who the hell did he think he was? He didn't own me! We just met yesterday. He acts like he's never been drunk before! Has he been drunk before?
I looked up at him as he drove. The wind blew his tousled locks around and the sun caught his eyes, making them appear to be pure shimmering gold. How the fuck was he so hot? I huffed. This was definitely unfair.
We pulled into the club parking lot, which was mostly empty due to the fact that it was a Monday morning, and Peter hopped out of the car immediately, not giving anyone else a chance to even unbuckle their seatbelts. "Let's, go." He said looking me dead in my eyes before closing the door and beginning to walk away.
"Who the hell pissed in his mouth this morning?" I asked as I got out the car.
"He's always in a pissy mood. You get used to it." Corey said, not looking up from his phone. I sighed and closed the car door, walking over to Peter, who'd been waiting at the door. He opened the door for me and we walked in. "Just don't say anything. Let me do all the talking." He said, straight faced.
"Why? It's not like I'm a fugitive or anything." I asked with a scrunched up nose.
"Just listen for once, please." He hissed.
"What is your problem? You were fine this morning, but now you're acting like someone just broke your favorite thing in the world!" I asked.
"I just don't feel like being here, right now." Peter mumbled as we walked up to the bar.
"Hey Toni." He said to a girl with dreads in her hair. She turned around and smirked at him. "Big Pete. What are you doing here?" Her eyes met mine and they darkened a bit. "I see you have a new toy with you."
Toy?! I'm not his toy?! I opened my mouth to speak, but Peter flicked my hand and cut me off.
"She's just a friend. We were here last night and she left her phone. I was wondering if you would let me take a look around in the lost and found for it."
Toni looked up at Peter and her saccharine smile returned. "Sure thing, babe. You know the way."
"Thanks, Toni." He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me behind him. Once we turned the corner, he glared at me from over his shoulder. "Seriously? One comment. One! And you were going to throw down with Toni."
"I'm not your toy! I'm no one's toy!"
"Yeah, but you can't let her get under your skin like that. That's what she does." Peter said, opening a door and pulling out a big cardboard box. He instantly pulled out a phone that I recognized as my own. "Yours?"
I nodded and took it from his grasp. Luckily, it had a 60 percent charge. My heart sunk as I saw all the missed calls and texts from my friend.
"You should call her back." Peter said. I looked up at him."She's probably worried."
"You're right." I said. Peter put the box back in the closet and leaned onto the wall as I dialed my friend's number.
She picked up on the third ring. "Tal! Oh my gosh are you okay? I called and texted you hundreds of times! I couldn't find you anywhere! Then I went to your house and evidently you've been EVICTED?! Are you okay? Where are you?!"
"Sam! I'm fine, okay? Yeah, I've been evicted, but I'm working on that. And I left my phone at the club on accident. I just got it back." I said calmly.
"What do you mean you're working on it? Where are you?" She asked again.
"I'm leaving the club with my phone. And I'm living with some..." I looked up at Peter who was watching me intensely. "...friends until I can get back on my feet."
"Who?"
"That's not important, Sam. I'm fine okay? I'm working on everything and things will be back to normal in no time, okay?"
Sam was silent for a few minutes and I could tell she was thinking about something. "Okay." She finally said. "I love you. Stay safe, okay?"
"I'm always safe." I told her with a smile. Peter scoffed in the background and I glared at him.
"Alright. Bye." She said.
"Bye." And with that, I hung up.
Peter ran a hand through his curls and motioned for me to follow him out of the club. Toni shot Peter a wink and Peter smirked in return, but as soon as he turned around, it melted back into his usual frown.
"Bad history?" I asked.
"None of your business." Peter responded.
"Ah! So she's an ex fling." I pressed.
Peter scoffed and rolled his eyes, only confirming my theory. "Okay, got it. It's a little hush hush topic" I smirked.
As we got into the car, Corey looked up. "Yeah, he just got back now. Put him on the phone? Um...okay."
Peter looked back at Corey with a raised brow and I saw Rhys mouth the name, "Leo". Something flashed in Peter's eyes. Shock? Realization? A mix of both? Whatever it was, he quickly shook the feeling away and took the phone from Corey.
"What's up Leo?" Peter asked coolly.
Loud yelling ensued on the other end of the line and Peter closed his eyes, sighing in annoyance as he let Leo yell at him. "Yeah, okay, I know I missed the shipment pick up, but-", More yelling cut him off and he rolled his eyes. "Listen, Leo. You and I both know that I never even wanted this in the first place, so when you try to get under my skin by saying shit like that, it doesn't fucking work."
Leo yelled again. But this time I heard certain words like company, dad, and job.
"I KNOW I was supposed to be there! But we got it, didn't we! What would have been the point of me being there?" Peter listened to Leo's response before he said, "Supervision my ass! He looked down at the watch on his shoulder. "Look, Leo. I'm busy today and-" He was cut off and his eyes met mine in the mirror. "That's not important." He hissed. "I have to GO Leo. I'll talk to you later okay?" Before Leo could respond, Peter hung up and tossed Corey's phone back. He groaned and ran a hand down his face.
"Leo on your dick again?" Rhys asked.
"Honestly, it doesn't even matter anymore." Peter said, pulling out of the parking lot. "We have to head home."
"Home? Why? I thought you guys were going to help me job hunt!" I frowned.
"Yeah, well, plans have changed, Princess." Peter said.
"Okay, I'm so lost right now." I said, leaning up to the front seat a bit. "So we're heading home because you just got in trouble with some guy named Leo?"
"That's his older brother." Corey said.
"How many siblings do you have?" I asked.
"It's just Fiona and Leo." Peter deadpanned, not taking his eyes off the road.
"What did he forget to do?"
"Nothing important. Its...a personal family thing." Rhys said.
"Then how do you two know about it?" I asked pointing at Corey and Rhys.
"We're basically family." Rhys smirked, winking at me. I sighed and sat back.
This was bullshit.
