Chapter Eleven

Peter

"Where the fuck is my girl?" I demanded, cocking my gun.

I don't know why I called her 'my girl'. We weren't together. I just spoke before I could think. But when her eyes lit up at the sight of me, I could tell she was relieved to see me.

I'd already taken out about five of Jason's men and now I ready to take him on.

My eyes met Thalia's. She was scared and her face was bloody. Her bare feet were covered in blood and I saw little glass shard sparkling within her cuts. She had a black eye and her once neat hair was now a tangled mess.

"Nice of you to join us." Jason practically sang. "Like what I did to your friend?" He pressed his knife deeper into her skin and she gasped as he cut her. "She's a real secret keeper."

"She doesn't know anything!" Corey hissed.

Jason's eyes widened in a sadistic sort of delight. "Ah! So she was telling the truth! Such a shame. She had such a pretty face."

He ran a thumb down her cheek and a single tear slipped from Thalia's eye.

"Let her go, Jason. She has nothing to do with this." Fiona demanded.

"Now why would I do that?" Jason purred.

"Because your fight is with us. Not her. Also, we'll kill you if you don't." Leo hissed.

"Oh! That's violent!"

"Says the guy with a murder shed!" Rhys spat.

Jason clicked his tongue. "That's very judgmental of you."

One of Jason's men pointed his gun at us to shoot, but before he could even pull the trigger, I shot at him first, hitting him directly in the head.

Then all chaos broke out.

Thalia

Gunshots fired wildly as Peter and his family engaged in a fight with Jason's men. I cried out in pain as Jason dragged me backwards with him. I couldn't see where. My hands were still bound and my feet were on fire with every new piece of glass that got embedded in my feet. It was stupid to think about the fact that just an hour ago, I was working at a desk organizing papers. Now, my life was on the line and I was probably going to die in the arms of a mob boss in a dusty old death trap of a shed!

Why was life so unfair?

Suddenly I saw the chair that I'd been previously tied to. Then it hit me. That could be my ticket to freedom! If only I could get to it...

My feet ached and burned as Jason dragged me further and further away from the fight. He was going to take me to some remote location and I would never see the Ronans or my old life again! I had to do something and I had to do it now!

With a burst of adrenaline, I elbowed Jason in the face. He loosened his grip on me and I tried to rush forward only for him to grab my braid and yank me back to him. "Stop fighting!" He hissed."

Suddenly he cried out in pain, letting me go. I landed on my knees and hands, yelling in pain as the glass sliced my skin and got stuck. I looked up to see Rhys aiming his gun at Jason he shot me a look for a split second that told me to run.

I got up and ran towards the Ronans but Jason still managed to reach towards me and grab my arm. Without thinking, I grabbed his arm back and used the glass in my hands to slice his arm. Jason cried out in pain and let me go. I quickly rushed to the metal chair and grabbed it, ignoring the searing fire that was shooting up my hands, knees and feet. I heard footsteps behind me and without hesitating, I picked up the chair and with an angered yell, I swung it as hard as I could, hitting Jason straight in the face with a sickening crunch. Blood sprayed onto the chair as Jason fell backwards and onto the floor. He screamed in pain as the millions of pieces of glass pierced his back.

I slowly crept backwards, tripping and crying out in pain at the glass and my previous injuries. As my adrenaline rush died down, I felt myself getting weaker and my vision grew spotty. My heart was pumping and my chest was screaming. I turned around just in time to see Peter and Leo rush over to me. Peter took one look at my hands and something foreign flashed within his honey irises. Leo took my face in his hands and looked me over.

"She's deathly pale and losing a lot of blood. We have to get her out of here." Leo said, picking me up.

"What about Jason?" Peter demanded angrily.

"Leave him! He's not worth it." Corey stated.

"He'll no doubt have backup out here in minutes. We've got to get out of here." Fiona told him.

Peter looked between Jason and I and he sighed in aggravation. He brushed a strand of my hair out of my face.

"I'm gonna kill him next time." He muttered.

"Yeah, next time. For now, we have to get Thalia out of here." Rhys said.

"She can ride with me and Fiona." Leo said carrying me out of the shed. As we walked out the door, I saw bodies, tons of dead bodies, all lying motionless and staring blankly. Fiona stepped in front of me and cupped my face with her hands. Her lipstick was smudged and she had a blood splatter on her usually clear skin. Her hair was wild and her blouse had a broken button on it. Her suit jacket was ripped and dirty. She looked completely different from her usual pretty girl self.

"Don't worry, babe. You're going to be okay." She said softly.

Her voice echoed in the back of my mind as darkness consumed me and her form faded, along with all of my pain.

Fine.
