The sun gently rested behind the buildings, causing most people who were working in them to shield their eyes from the bright rays of light. Days like these made people smile, not because of the light, but because of how warm it made them feel. Warmth, whether it was good or bad, caused people to have mixed emotions. This is something people have noticed over time.
Which wasn't a bad thing.
That's what Rory Moore thought. He knew that time meant everything to him. It could be from time he spent with his parents or the last few minutes he had with his younger sister, Jessica. Whether it was, he knew it was rough for him to think about it again.
But he can get through it.
He has to.
"I look so bad." He whined to Sam, giving him a frown. "Why do we have to wear this hideous outfits?"
"Rory, would you stop?" Sam sighed, shaking his head. "You look fine."
"But-"
Sam glared at him. "Listen to me, if anyone looks bad it is me, not you. Got it?"
"Samuel Winchester! I did not hear those words come out of your mouth!" The blonde looked appalled by his words. If anyone looked bad, it was him, not Sam.
"Could you guys stop being so dramatic?" Dean groaned, walking past them. "You're worse than that doctor on Doctor Sexy M.D."
"Doctor Sexy?" Rory quirked an eyebrow. "Is Dean Winchester confessing he watches reality show television?"
"No, that's not what I meant-"
"Uh huh." Rory smirked while Sam watched them with amusement. "Keep dreaming, buddy."
"You're unbelievable." Sam shook his head, looking up at the building in front of the three. "All right, Dean. This is the place."
Dean glanced down at his outfit. "You know, I've gotta say Dad and me did just fine without these stupid costumes. I feel like a high school drama dork." He smiles. "What was that play that you did? What was it – Our Town. Yeah, you were good, it was cute."
The blonde turned to look at Sam in surprise. "You used to do drama? No way! Me too."
Sam beamed. "Really? I didn't take you as a guy who enjoyed drama stuff."
He suddenly felt defensive.
"Says the one who hunts monsters!" Rory says, rolling his eyes. "Just because my hair is slicked back and I own a leather jacket doesn't mean I don't like Shakespeare, Sam."
"Okay, okay. No need to get defensive, buddy." Sam held out his hands in defense, afraid that the cheery blonde would lash out at him again.
Rory scoffed. "I'm not being defensive, well, I mean. I kind of am, but it doesn't matter. Does it?"
"I guess not." The youngest Winchester shrugged. When he turned his head, he saw Dean frowning at his outfit. "Look, you wanna pull this off or not, Dean."
"I'm just saying, these outfits cost hard-earned money, okay?" The older boy says with a slight scowl to his face.
"Whose?" His brother frowned.
"Ours." Dean gave him a look. "You think credit card fraud is easy?"
➼
"Thanks for letting us look around." Sam says as they enter the apartment that they wanted to look into.
The blonde couldn't help but look around the apartment. His eyes followed every inch of the walls, leading to the corners and furniture, that seemed to be still in place. What truly happened here? What poor victim died because of the supernatural?
"Well, the police said they were done with the place, so.." The landlady walked further into the room with Rory and Sam following slowly behind. "You guys said you were with the alarm company?"
"Unfortunately." Rory muttered loud enough for the brunette standing by his side to shove him lightly.
With a forced smile, Dean nodded. "That's right." He said, not before giving Rory and his brother a, 'what are you doing' look.
"He started it." He muttered again.
The landlady, who wasn't paying attention to the scene shook her head. "Well, no offense. But your alarm's about as useful as boobs on a man."
All three of them exchanged a look.
"Well, that's why we're here." Dean spoke up, a slight laugher in his voice at what she said. "To see what went wrong and stop it from happening again."
"Now, ma'am, you found the body?"
"Obviously, she did, Sam." The blonde rolled his eyes. He cleared his throat. "You found the body right after it happened, right?"
"No." The lady said, looking around. "Few days later." She took a pause, before continuing. "Meredith's work called—she hadn't shown up."
"Then what?"
"I knocked on the door to see if she was home, but then I noticed the smell."
That was when Rory decided to walk around the apartment, ignoring the rest of the conversation between the landlady and the brothers. When he heard the door slam, he looked up to see that she had left. Yet, he still didn't go over there, until Dean started to put tape around some blood, making a symbol.
"Ever see that symbol before?" Sam questions Dean.
"Never."
"Me either."
"Same." Rory nodded, grinning when the brothers glared at him.
➼
Later that night, the three of them decided to go to a bar, much to Rory's dismay. He wasn't one for drinking, unless he really needed to get out of his element. Which wasn't now. The boy couldn't stand watching Dean flirt his life away when he had someone as great as Leo in it.
"Stop glaring." Sam says without even looking up from the papers he was reading.
"I don't know what you mean." He continued to glare at the man across from the bar.
Sam sighed. "Just leave my brother alone for once, alright? He's not doing anything wrong."
"I think he is." Rory muttered more to himself. "I mean, just don't see how he can continue to flirt when he's got a man that already likes him."
"Who?" Sam was confused on what he meant. "Do you mean Leo? The shady guy you met at a bar?"
"He's not shady." The blonde scoffed, blinking once. "Okay. I understand what you mean. The way he showed into our lives is kind of fishy-"
"Kind of?"
Rory shook his head. "It doesn't matter anyways. Dean will never understand that."
Both of them grew quiet when they watched Dean flirt his life away. Flirting was something that Rory knew quite well- having him flirt on a daily basis with the youngest Winchester. But his flirting was sincere. Well, that's what he hoped.
"I talked to the bartender." Dean walked over to them with a sleazy smile.
"Did you get anything?" Sam says, shaking his head. "Besides her number?"
"I hope you didn't get her number." The blonde mumbled to himself.
"What?" The eldest Winchester looked confused.
"Nothing." The blonde replied with annoyance.
"Anyways, look, there's nothing to find out. I mean, Meredith worked here, she waited tables, everyone here was her friend. Everybody said she was normal. She didn't do or say anything weird before she died, so—what about that symbol, you find anything?" Dean asks, giving his brother a look.
"Nope, nothing." Sam shook his head. "It wasn't in Dad's journal or in any of the usual books. I just have to dig a little deeper, I guess."
"Isn't everything in your Dad's journal- I thought he hunted everything?" Rory asked out loud. "He was a hunter since your mother died, he should've came around everything."
"It may seem like that to you, Rory. But he hasn't."
"Who's the defensive one now?" Rory teased lightly before blinking. "So who was the first victim?"
"There was one before Meredith? Right?" Dean says, looking at his brother.
"Right." He pulled out a newspaper clipping concerning the first death. "His name was, uh—his name was Ben Swardstrom." He then hands over the news clip to Dean. "Last month he was found mutilated in his town house. Same deal—the door was locked, the alarm was on."
"Any connection between the two?" Rory questioned. "I mean, there should be."
"Not that I can tell—I mean, not yet, at least."
Rory zoned out the rest of the conversation, not interested in the rest of it. Until, he saw Sam get out of his seat. Which, made the blonde follow him slowly to see a familiar person sitting in the middle of the crowd on a random seat, with her back towards them.
"Holy shit!" Rory commented when Meg turned around to look at them curiously. "Meg? No way!"
"Rory? Sam? Is that you? Oh, my God!" Meg smiles, hugging them both tightly - pulling away slowly, she continued to talk. "What are you doing here?"
"We could ask you the same thing." The blonde quirked an eyebrow. "But Sam and I we're-"
"We're just in town, visiting friends." Sam cut off his friend with a look.
"Where are they?"
"Yeah, Sam. Where are they?" Rory teased again, making Meg smile at him. "Cause last time I checked we don't have any friends."
"Well, they're not here right now, but what about you, Meg? I thought you were goin' to California?" Sam once again gave the blonde a harsh look for what he had said- not noticing that Dean had came up from behind them.
"Oh I did. I came, I saw, I conquered." Meg says, tapping her fingers on her knees. "Oh, and I met what's-his-name, something Michael Murray at a bar."
"Who?" Sam and Rory said at the same time.
"Oh, it doesn't matter." Meg shook her head with a smile. "Anyway, the whole scene got old, so I'm living here for a while" She finished, ignoring Dean when he cleared his throat.
"You're from Chicago?!" Rory says excitedly. "My roommate back home is from there. Maybe you've met him."
"Maybe." She shrugs nonchalantly. "I've known a lot of people over my lifetime." But then, she paused. "Oh. I should mention I'm not from there. Massachusetts—Andover is where I am from." She then smiles large. "Sam, Rory. Gosh, what are the odds we'd run into each other?"
"One in a million." The blonde commented, suddenly getting concerned, but then shrugged it off.
"Yeah, I know, I thought I'd never see you again."
"Well, I'm glad you were wrong." She noted, watching when Sam nodded his head. When Dean cleared his throat again, she shot him a glare. "Dude, cover your mouth."
Dean was taken back at her harshness, even when Sam started to talk again. "Yeah, um, I'm sorry, Meg. This is, uh—this is my brother, Dean"
"Or you can call him Angry Spice. That's what I do." He grinned when both Winchesters shot him a glare.
Meg looked surprised. "This is Dean?"
"So you've heard of me." Dean smiled.
"Oh, yeah. I've heard of you. Nice—the way you treat your brother and his boyfriend like luggage"
Boyfriend?
"Oh no, Meg. Sam and I aren't dating-"
"Why don't you let him do what he wants to do? Stop dragging him over God's green earth." Meg continued, cutting off Rory. "You know, what? Also let them date in private. Stop telling them how they should live their lives."
"Meg, it's all right." Sam had a slight blush on his cheeks. The three of them look around quietly. Dean whistles lowly.
"Okay, awkward. I'm gonna get a drink now." He gives Sam a puzzled look, then walks over to the bar.
"Sam, I'm sorry. It's just—the way you told me he treats you and Rory-.if it were me, I'd kill him."
"Angry Spice means well, Meg." Rory replied sheepishly. "Also, Sam and I are just friends. I'm not sure if you heard me or not."
"Oh, I heard you. I just don't believe you."
➼
After the whole ordeal with Meg, Sam went off to spy on her because he believed that something strange was happening. There was no coincidence that Meg was in the same town as the people who are getting murdered. That's not right.
"So, did my brother really complain about me to some chick?" Dean's voice broke him out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, he did. What's your point?"
"My point is that if he had a problem with me, he should've told me personally, not bitch to some chick."
Rory sighed. "I'm so not having this conversation with you."
"Why not?"
"Cause it's none of my business for one, and second I don't see the big issue-"
Before Rory could finish his sentence, the door to the motel room swung open, revealing Sam who looked disheveled. "Dude, I gotta talk to you."
Apparently while Rory and Dean were at the motel room, Sam followed Meg to some warehouse to discover that the blonde is summoning the Daeva to murder those people. It was not a shocker to Rory. He knew something was up with the girl, but he didn't know what.
"So, hot little Meg is summoning the Daeva?" Dean says, grinning.
"Why are you grinning? No wait. Why are you calling her hot? She murdered two people-"
"Technically it was the Daeva's." He pointed out.
"I can't with you both." Sam shook his head. "But no, looks like she was using that black altar to control the thing."
"So, Sammy's got a thing for the bad girl."
The blonde didn't know why he felt jealous at those words. Maybe it was because he wanted Sam's attention on him, not Meg. But he didn't have a thing for the youngest Winchester. Did he?
"I don't have a thing for her." Sam rolls his eyes, giving Rory a look when he saw the scowl on his face. Shaking his head again, he continued to speak. "I think she was communicating with someone in the bowl."
"With who? With the Daeva?"
"No, you said those things were savages- this was something different. Someone who's giving her orders. Someone who's comin' to that warehouse."
Rory and Dean glanced over at the table, remembering the research both of them were doing before Sam had gotten there. Both of the victims were from Lawrence, Kansas- Sam and Dean's birthplace. It was strange to see that on a piece of paper- someone was definitely trying to bring them in.
"What's the significance of Lawrence? I don't understand." The blonde questions, making the brunette let out a noise of agreement. "How do these Daeva things fit in?"
"Beats me. But I say we trash that black altar, grab Meg, and have ourselves a friendly little interrogation."
➼
"That was awesome!" The words left the blonde's mouth as soon as they left the warehouse. "Did you see her fall? That was better than the movies."
"I have to admit, the way she fell was pretty awesome." Dean nodded in agreement.
"We should've filmed it! You know how much money we would've gotten?!" Rory continues to ramble on and on- causing Dean to chuckle and Sam to give his classic glare.
"I'm pretty sure we would've gotten thrown in jail for that."
"C'mon, Sam. Don't ruin the fun." He whined, not liking Sam's attitude.
"I am just being realistic.. like always."
And with that, the three of them walked up the stairs and into the motel room that they're staying at. The room was pitch black when the opened the door, and Rory swore he left the light on when they left the room. But the blonde stopped thinking that when he saw an outline of a figure in front of them.
"Hey!" Dean shouts while his younger brother turns on the light. When he sees who it is, he's stunned. "Dad?"
"Oh shit." Rory mutters when he realizes John freaking Winchester is standing in front of them.
"Hello, boys." John strut up to them, eyeing the blonde. But didn't say anything to him.
"Dad, this is Rory." Sam says softly, not breaking eye contact from Rory. "Rory, this John Winchester."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, sir." He held out his hand, but John didn't take it.
Instead he turned to Dean, who gave him an emotional hug. "Dad, it was a trap. I didn't know, I'm sorry."
"It's all right. I thought it might've been." John shoved his hands inside his pocket.
"Were you there?"
"Yeah, I got there just in time to see the girl take the swan dive. She was the bad guy, right?"
"Yes, sir." Sam and Dean said at the same time, making the blonde roll his eyes- which John saw.
"Do you have a problem, son?" John asks Rory.
"No, I don't." The blonde stood his ground, glaring at the older man. But before anything could be said, one of the shadow demons attacks John- throwing him into a set of cabinets, making him fall to the ground. Sam fell shortly after, same with Rory.
"No!" Dean shouts as he is thrown in the floor as well.
They groan and scream in pain as they are flung around the room. Fresh scratches appear on their faces. But Rory tried to open his eye, and when he did, he saw the brunette makes his way to the bag of weapons on the floor. His eyes widened when he saw Sam pull out a flare.
"Shut your eyes! These things are shadow demons, so let's light 'em up!" Sam shouts as he tosses in on the floor. The room instantly is filled with smoke and a brilliant white light- making the shadow demons vanish.
"Sam! Are you okay?!" Rory pushed himself off to the ground to inspect his friend.
"I'm fine." He coughed, blood dripping down his face. "How are you? Anything hurt?"
"Just a little, but I'll be fine once I know you're okay."
Sam smiles at that.
"I'll always be okay with you around, Rory."

I'm doing a vote and comment goal so it'll give me some time to write the next chapter, since it takes me a bit to do so.
How'd you guys like this one? I know it wasn't one of my best chapters, but I tried. That's what matters, right?
I've decided I am making this book through season eight- which means it'll have a sequel which will be based on season nine through fifteen. I'm so excited for it.
