07: HIDDEN SECRETS

Chapter seven: not edited

[A NEW CHARACTER WILL BE INTRODUCED IN THIS CHAPTER. HE'S PLAYED BY MATTHEW DADDARIO BECAUSE I'M OBSESSED WITH HIM. THIS PART OF THE BOOK WILL REFLECT MORE ON THE EPISODE, BLOODY MARY. SO A LOT OF THE DIALOGUE IS IN IT.]

Many things could happen in over an hour. Somethings were out of their control while others could've been avoided. That's how Rory felt when he received a text from Charlie about one of her friends dying. The blonde girl felt like it was her fault that she wasn't with Jill. Rory tried to tell her it wasn't her fault- but Charlie wouldn't have it.

Charlie wore her heart on her sleeve. She felt like it was her job to protect her friends from harms way. Even when Rory was younger, she would always make it her mission to pull him out of danger when it wasn't her job to do so. Sam was the exact way. That's one of the main reasons why Rory felt so calm around the younger Winchester.

Times like this made Rory wish that he knew Sam earlier. Especially when it centered around his parents death. It just felt like days ago when he was in class, receiving the horrifying news that his parent's died in a house fire caused by an unknown force. That simple thought made Jessica's death ten times worse since all his remaining family members died the same way.

Outside of the motel, Rory noticed how sunny it truly was. The sun was high above the clouds while the hum of cars flashing past the motel was heard. It was the definition of a beautiful day. Days like this made the blonde forget about all the bad in the world, just the remaining positives that make the world go around in circles once more.

"It's a beautiful day, isn't it?" A voice was heard from behind him.

Turning around, he noticed a tall man with warm colored eyes staring back at him. His hair was slicked up in a way that could make any girls fall in love with him. He had his lips turned up into a grin, his eyes twinkling back at him. In definition, this man was hot. But why was he trying to talk to Rory? No one ever makes it their mission to talk to him on the streets.

"What? Sorry, you caught me off guard."

The man chuckled. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sneak up on you like that. It's not every day you see a beautiful man like yourself standing out here alone."

"Uh, it's fine." Rory says while shaking his head, a slight blush tinting his cheeks. "I'm not alone actually-"

"Do you think they would mind if I asked you to get a drink?"

Before Rory could even utter out another sentence, the man took a step forward, blocking the way he came. The blonde was starting to become nervous around him, but another part was glad that he had the attention. He was so used to Jessica getting all the attention while he was always alone at the restaurants or bars.

"Rory." A familiar voice that belonged to Sam spoke from behind them. Turning around he saw Sam and Dean an inch away from the unfamiliar man and the blonde himself. "It's time to go."

"Oh, I didn't know you had a boyfriend." The man said. He turned to look at Sam. "Sorry, man. Didn't mean to intrude."

Rory let out a loud laugh that made the three of them jump. "Sam's not my boyfriend. He's just an over protective friend who needs to stop interrupting every conversation I have with someone new."

"So you don't mind if I-"

"Yes, he does mind." That's when Sam grabbed Rory's free hand before pulling him to the impala where Dean had went off towards. "Bye."

"Sam." The blonde hissed through clenched teeth. When they got to the car, he yanked his hand out of the younger boy's grasp. "What the hell was that?"

"I was protecting you, Rory. All he wanted was your ass."

With that, Sam got into the passenger side while Rory stood there gaping like a fish. Shortly after, he got into his seat before glancing out the window to see the raven haired man to be gone. Well, that was fast. He never has seen someone disappear that quickly. Who was that man? That's what Rory wanted to know.

"Who was that man?" Dean questioned suddenly once the impala pulled out of the motel parking lot.  "You know the once that tried to get in your pants?"

"Very subtle, Dean." Rory rolled his eyes before responding. "I don't know. He saw me standing alone in the parking lot and thought I was a fine piece of meat, but he didn't know that I've got a pair of protective guard dogs around me. So unfortunately I didn't get a chance to ask him anything."

"Ha, very funny." He says while sending the blonde a tight glare. He turned to look at his younger brother who had his head faced towards the window. "You okay there, Sammy?"

Sam didn't respond to his brother nor did he want to give him any more reason to worry. He had been through so much but that doesn't mean he wants to drag Dean into it. Dean deserved better. That was something both of them knew. Even though they wouldn't voice it out to themselves.

"Yeah, he's fine. He's just mad that someone gave me attention that wasn't him."

"What the hell? Rory, you know that isn't true." Sam whipped his head to look towards the boy. "I don't care who looks at you, I honestly don't. It's not like you'll give it out anyways."

"Excuse me?" Rory blinked before scowling. "If you're suggesting that I'm a man whore than you've got it wrong."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes, I'm sure you piece of-"

"No, don't stop talking, Rory. Tell me what's really on your mind."

"One more freaking word out of you both and you'll see yourself locked in a closet- you know to work out your differences." Dean snapped at them.

Rory gave him a look before huffing. "Fine."

"Fine."

When they arrived to the front of the place where Charlie told them to go to, they saw the blonde sitting alone on the bench. Fresh tears were stained on her pale skin, covering every ouch of freckles that she has on her face. She couldn't believe that one of her best friends was gone. A friend that she grew up with all her life.

"Rory." Charlie cried out when she saw her friend coming towards her. She quickly wrapped her arms around his waist before he pulled her into a hug.

"It's okay, I got you." Rory moved his hand through her hair, trying to comfort the girl while Sam and Dean watched with different expressions; one with sadness while the other looked at the scene in worry.

"She said it, Rory." Charlie pulled back from his hold. "I heard her say it on the phone, but that couldn't be the reason, right? It's just a dumb joke."

"Charlie-"

"I'm not insane, am I?"

"No, you're not insane." Dean says after a split second. He knew that this would be hard for the blonde. Especially since she thought it was just a dumb joke played by kids.

"Oh God, that makes me feel so much worse."

"Charlie, you're not insane, okay?" Rory places a comforting hand on her shoulder. "But let me tell you something, all the best people are slightly crazy."

"Rory's right." Sam said, surprising both Rory and Dean. "Everyone goes mad sometimes. But you should take that knowledge and put it in good use."

The blonde boy couldn't help but send an appreciative smile towards the Winchester boy. Even though Sam seemed to not like Charlie for some reason, the boy pushed past his differences and decided to say something comforting. He didn't even fully understand why he felt like that towards the girl when she did nothing wrong in the first place.

"What do you mean?"

"Look. We think something's happening here. Something that can't be explained."

"You mean something like ghosts? You're kidding, right?" Charlie glanced between them before looking at Rory. "Tell me he's kidding."

"I wish."

Charlie gave him a long look before transferring her look towards Sam and Dean. "What do you want me to do about it?"

Both boys glanced at each other, a knowing look in their eyes. They needed to get into Jill's room to see if there's any evidence or not. Evidence would help them find out what's going on with Bloody Mary. She was causing more harm than they could imagine. The town of Ohio didn't need any more innocent deaths on their lists.

"Rory, she's going to be okay."

Rory was currently freaking out because Charlie saw Bloody Mary in her mirror. Sam received a call that the blonde's friend said the word three times in the mirror after visiting the college bathroom. Now Charlie has to deal with the aftermath. It wasn't her fault. None of this was anyone's fault.

"I can't lose her!" Rory wiped a tear that flowed down his face. "I've lost my sister, my parents, and now I may lose Charlie. Who else is going to leave me?"

Sam's face showed pain at the words that left his mouth. "Rory. Listen to me. You won't lose anyone else. Want to know why? Cause Dean and I won't allow it. We care too much about you to let one of your friends die."

"You really do?"

"Of course I do."

A few minutes of silence filled the impala, making Rory go into his inner thoughts. He started to remember the conversation at Charlie's house about how her boyfriend killed himself after she walked out of his life. That's why Bloody Mary was going after her. But in reality, it wasn't really her fault, but he guessed the creature didn't have any rules to who she goes after.

"You know her boyfriend killing himself, that's not really Charlie's fault." Dean said like he read Rory's mind.

"Spirits don't exactly see shades of gray, Dean."

"I guess."

"I've been thinking. It might not be enough to just smash that mirror."

"What do you mean?" Rory questioned after being silent for a minute.

"Well Mary's hard to pin down, right? I mean she moves around from mirror to mirror so who's to say that she's not just gonna keep hiding in them forever? So maybe we should try to pin her down, you know, summon her to her mirror and then smash it."

"How are you going to do that? Don't you need to have a secret so bad that she'll come after you?"

"I can't believe I'm saying this but Rory's right." Dean says while steering the wheel to the left, going around a sharp corner. "You don't have a huge secret enough to make her go after you."

"Unless you're hiding some dark secret that'll kill us all." Rory joked out loud but no one found it funny. "I mean, come on. You can't summon her, Sam."

"She'll come after me."

"You know what, that's it." Dean swerved the car over to the side of the road. "This is about Jessica, isn't it? You think that's your dirty little secret that you killed her somehow?"

Rory snapped his head to look at Sam in shock. Why would he think like that? Jessica's death wasn't his fault. At least that's what Rory though. Sam isn't a murderer. He doesn't have it in his bones to murder someone out of cold blood. From what Rory can tell, it was something that caused the fire, not him.

"This has got to stop, man. I mean, the nightmares and calling her name out in the middle of the night—it's gonna kill you."

"Maybe it should."

"Sam." Rory stated firmly. "I'm not sure why you think it's your fault or why you blame yourself. but this needs to stop. It's going to drag you down into a darker pit and you don't need that. We need you sharp and in the game."

"If you wanna blame something, then blame the thing that killed her. Or hell, why don't you take a swing at me? I mean I'm the one that dragged you away from her in the first place."

"I don't blame you, Dean."

"Well you shouldn't blame yourself, because there's nothing you could've done."

"I could've warned her."

"About what? What could you've possibly have done, Sam?"

Sam sighed at Rory's comment. "I could've done something. if I did, you'll still have your sister."

"I still have her. Even though I can't talk to her or see her anymore, I still dream about the good memories we had." Rory gently smiled at the memories. "She's not gone, man. I still have her in my heart."

"Rory, wait! Don't do this."

Rory slammed the motel room's door in Sam's face, not wanting to deal with him right now. After the whole ordeal in the impala, the trio went to the antique store to find the mirror so they could end the scandal once and for all. But that didn't happen. While Dean was fending off the police, Rory and Sam dealt with Bloody Mary.

"You lied to me, Sam. Kept secrets from me and Dean. How could you do that to him, more importantly me?!"

"Cause I knew how you'll act and I didn't want anymore tension in the impala." Sam says quietly, watching the blonde carefully. "You know I don't like conflict."

"Well, have you ever wondered why the world doesn't revolve around you?" Rory yelled, knowing the people in the room next to them could probably hear their fight. "This is a perfect example why. How could you not tell me about the dreams?"

"I-I thought they were just dreams. You know, ordinary nightmares."

"So you thought dreams of Jessica burning on the ceiling were normal?" He scoffed as his hands balled into fists - wanting to take a swing at Sam, but stopped himself from doing so. "I can't even look at you right now, Sam."

"Rory, please-"

"You're just as worse as the thing that killed her."

And with that Rory walked out of the motel room, leaving Sam alone with dried tears forming at the edge of his eyes. He didn't mean for this to happen. But how was he supposed to explain the dreams to Rory - to Jessica's brother?! No one would understand it, or him in general. So that's why he kept it a secret from him and his brother.

Important Announcement:

This book will have slow updates from now on. Which means it may take a month for me to update since I've got other books to tend to now. But please don't let that stop you from leaving feedback. Comments and votes are necessary. They give me motivation to update quicker than I've been doing.

The new character will show up again soon. This was more of an introduction to him.  Also I'm trying to have more scenes that aren't in the episodes but sometimes I can't think of any so that's why I use scenes from the show.

Question: Do you mind if I do every episode of season one? Or should I skip around? I could always do every episode in season one and when I get to season two, skip around. Thoughts?
