Hunted
Who the hell is chasing me? I have to know.
Vampire hunting is deemed illegal in New York, so how can they kill Anaita without getting found?
I sat on the bed, looking at my reflection. I miss my dad...my home. But I could never get that back.
That asshole has another thing coming.
"The police has discovered Jason Cruise in serious injuries and is now in the hospital recovering, the police had tried to get some information but the man hasn't responded."
Even when I am a vampire...I will try to act as much of a human as I can.
I'll have to be extra careful.
As for that little girl...I had a strong feeling Anaita killed her.
I mean...I'd be a hypocrite if I said killing was wrong and I would never do it.
I dry my wet hair.
The only thing I'm truly scared of is myself.
I could've saved him.
I wouldn't be like this.
I wouldn't be the animal I am now and tear people apart limb from limb.
But if I had a choice between saving a group of people and myself.
I would save the people.
Cliché right?
Hella cliché.
But I don't care. Because I may be a vile bloodsucker on the outside, but I'm still human on the inside.
Because I still think like one.
Believe that. I still care.
Every Sunday I would drop off baked cookies at the floral shop for the sweet old lady who works there, and I would help her.
Now it's nightfall, I'll have to visit the nearby hospitals Jason is in.
--
I walk along the roof, a cigarette in my mouth to calm my nerves down. I look at the window to see Jason thrashing in the bed with surgeons holding him down.
He deserves it.
I take a long draw out of my cigarette then put it out.
I look over my shoulder. No hunter.
As I roll my eyes, I sneak towards the window.
I'm so scared. Note the sarcasm.
I look over as the surgeons finally calm Jason down. Now or never.
Soon as the surgeons walk out, I sneak in, within the corner of his eye he saw me, he starts thrashing.
"Relax, I'm not here to kill you."
"Then why the fuck are you here?" He asks bitterly.
"Be civil." I growl.
I sit down in the chair. "You're the reason why my dad is dead."
"So don't be a hypocrite." I hiss sourly.
"Why didn't you kill me then?"
"Even though you're a bastard, a part of me still cares." I say honestly.
"And it's not smart to kill someone who knows something." I say.
"What are you talking about?"
"The BA association. Regan Valentino."
"Look, you can have money! A home!"
I glare at him. "Life isn't just about money and finance."
"And people who look at it that way are the true monsters."
"True." Jason says quietly.
"Back to my question."
"Look. You're a vampire, why do you need to know about them?"
"Because I don't like what they're doing and they have something coming to them."
They would enter nurseries full of babies and kill them, turning them into vampires.
They took innocent girls and leave them with the choice of death or to become one of them.
Little boys...they held them hostage while they kill their families.
They did all of this, now they're all going to die.
Because I am going to exterminate every single member of the BA association.
Every.last.one.
And I dare someone to get in my way.
"You tell me Jason."
"I can't tell you much...but the BA association is in the downtown part of New York, you can't change their minds Amelia."
"I don't intend to."
I turn on my heel, making my way to the window.
"Wait."
I look over my shoulder.
"It wasn't just me who...got Thomas killed."
I rush over to the bed.
"Names.now." I growl.
Anger begun to boil inside of me. Even though I lack blood circulation I could feel myself grow hot.
"A-Amelia!" Jason chokes out, then he reaches towards his button, pressing it frantically, I dart to the window.
"This isn't over Tyler." I growl before sneaking out.
Who were those people? The BA association is for sure behind my father's death...and turning me into a vamp.
Here I am, parkouring from building to building.
"Hey! Let me go!" I hear a kid yell, I stop, looking down at the alley to see a kid getting pinned against the alley. I crouch down, spider man style and watched the scene play out.
"Fuck that! We told you not to come here!" The bully says.
I grit my teeth. Damn brats are always trying to act all grown up.
"Please! My dad is sick! I need to go see him!"
I'm hella soft for this, but those words shook me.
Before I could stop myself I leap from the rooftop and towards the ground.
I mean...kids can be cruel but children are my weakness. Call me what you want but I'll be damned to let this go on.
The kids stop.
"Who the hell are you lady?"
"Step away from the kid, beat it." I growl.
The kid chuckles.
I'm not afraid to teach this kid a lesson by knocking him out. I hate how kids act like bullies.
"Don't make me hurt you kid." I grunt.
I look at the boy, he had bruises all over his face, a large cut was on the back of his hand."
The boy pulls out a switchblade.
"Shoulda minded your business." The kid says, I raise an eyebrow daringly.
"Screw off lady."
With one swift motion I pin the boy against the wall, pressing my hands into his shoulder as he lets out a pained yelp.
I refuse to show my true form to kids.
"You should be home, with your parents."
"I don't have any." The kid says.
I let go, spinning him around.
"Go to someone who can watch you."
"If I catch you here bullying again, that's your ass." I warn.
"Got it?" I ask.
The kid rolls his eyes, I give him a slap upside the head.
"Ow!"
"Did you hear me?" I ask.
"Yeah."
"Next time I'll just take that stick over there and fry your ass if you cut that kid again." I add.
I lift my lips into a soft grin.
"Go on, find someone who loves you."
He runs away, not even daring to look back.
The other kid had slumped down, I frown, walking over to him.
"Hey kid." I chirp, he looks up.
"Let me clean your face."
I pull out a hankerchief that I had always kept in memory of my grandmother, I start dabbing his face.
"Life is an ass isn't it?" I say to him.
I gave him a sympathetic stare. I'm the type that would sometimes give tough love but be gentle at the same time.
I normally don't care for much.
"You're really tough." He says.
"Wasn't born with it kiddo." I say.
"Why did you help me?"
I stopped. Why did I help him? I guess I'm soft, I couldn't walk away from a baby that had been abandoned in the street without comforting it.
"Because I went through the same thing when I was your age, and I heard you mention your old man."
"You're really brave you know that?" I ask him.
I help him.
"Next time, don't hesitate to fight back." I said.
"And don't let that kid get to you."
"Thanks..." He says shyly. I hold his head up.
"Continue being strong kiddo." I say with a big smile on my face.
He grins then walks off.
"Miss?" He asks.
"Do you wanna come with me?" He asks. "My grandma is making soup." He adds.
Dammit...soup does sound good.
"Ah...I have to get going kid." I say, rubbing my neck and putting my hand on my hip.
Usually young boys would be bashful at how beautiful I had looked, which is cute to me.
"Okay." He says.
I wanted to go so bad, but I don't think that would be a good idea.
"My name is Blyke." He says.
"Amelia." I say, pulling out my cheap packet of cigarettes.
"Remember what I had said Blyke."
He nods and runs off. I sigh.
Me and my big heart...
"I thought he'd never leave." A voice growls.
I jump back, looking at the rooftop, but a dagger presses against my neck.
"Don't even bother to run sweetheart." He adds.
Dammit...
