Chapter Six: Bullets
The shot echoed through the forest, and I looked up to see that a man lay on the ground dead. It wasn't Jackson though.
I see Shade was laying on top of him, and she looks over at me.
She moved him out of the way, I growl. My face was pissed, and she could see it. She made sure Jackson was okay before darting back over the border.
I see her drop something, and realize that it's my silver dagger. Must have forgotten it, I think.
I shoot the rest of the patrol, but Jackson was already gone.
Damn it Shade! What the hell was that about? I snarl through the mindlink.
I don't know what came over me, but you should be glad, you were going to kill him, she tries to say.
Yes, and that would have been the perfect way to show Blake that I will do whatever the fuck it takes to keep my pack safe! I growl.
I only came to bring your dagger, now can you stop yelling and cursing at me? She sighs.
Fine, I'll deal with him later I guess, I huff.
Do you need anything else other than the dagger?
No, I should be fine for now, and don't you have a pack to run? I ask with a chuckle.
Whatever, just try not to kill yourself, okay?
Bye Shade, I say and cut off the link.
I see another patrol coming, far off into the trees. I let out a frustrated breath and aim my gun again.
This time I kill them before they even make it within 300 yards of the border. I trade my gun for my crossbow, and rest my back on the tree trunk.
The forest is completely dark now, with only a half moon to light it. I hear an angry snarl from afar, and guess that it belongs to Blake.
I hear pounding footsteps, and dozens of wolves appear in the trees. I feel my lips curl into a smirk.
Almost all of the warriors were in Wolf form, but a few were not. I lift the crossbow and shoot at a Wolf in the front.
The arrow hits his chest, and he falls down without a yelp. The solves immediately behind him, stumble over the body.
I keep shooting until I have used a dozen arrows, before switching back to the M16. I just keep my finger on the trigger and bring the barrel side to side.
Blood sprays everywhere as the machine gun kills all of the wolves and warriors. I let out a heavy breath and put the gun back over my shoulder.
I drop down from the tree, and walk over to the bloody mass of bodies. I hear coughing and see one of the warriors in human form, on the ground with a hole in his stomach.
I rush over and kneel beside him.
"Why does Blake keep sending warriors?" I ask.
"He ordered us to capture you, and bring you back by any means necessary," he says, but it comes out a gurgled whisper.
"Your Alpha is a fucking moron," I sigh, shaking my head. I stand up and try to walk away, but he grabs my ankle.
"Please, you can't leave me like this," he chokes out, and blood dribbles from his mouth.
"The bullet punctured your lung, I can't help you," I sigh and yank my foot from his grasp.
He tries to ask me again, but chokes on blood. I hear his strangled gasps for air for a few moments, before it is silent.
I grab the dagger Shade dropped and climb up a tree. I move along the branches until I reach the main clearing of Blake's pack.
I see him on a stage surrounded with wolves. His eyes were ice blue and his jaw clenched in fury.
I strain my ears to hear what he is saying.
"-a new plan to turn the Dark Forest Pack into ashes. Their leader, Raven Silver, will be taken into custody and punished for her crimes," he growls.
I bite my lip to stop a snort, and turn away from the scene. The new plan he was talking about made me curious.
I travel through the trees until I reach Blake's house. I saw that their were two guards at the front, so I find a side window.
I use my claws to unlock it and slide it open. I climb inside and quietly close it again.
I find myself in the dining room, and I run out into the hallway. I turn a few corners until I reach Blake's office.
Luckily, it was open. I slip inside, and shut the door behind me. I raise an eyebrow at the state of it all. Papers and other things were scattered around the room.
Blake must have had another pissy fit in here, because it was trashed. I step over the remnants of a broken chair, around to his desk.
Only one drawer was locked, so I guessed if had important information. I use my dagger to pry it open, and take out the single folder.
Inside the folder, were two maps and a shipping order. One map was of the Silver Bloods territory, the second was of mine.
"How the hell did he get this?" I mutter under my breath. I sigh and move onto the shipping order.
My eyes widen at the contents of the list. I curse with a growl, and close my eyes.
When I see the date of arrival, I realize just how bad this was. Talking and the opening of the front door snap me out of my anger.
I quickly put all of the files back into the folder, and turn to leave. Ira takes over suddenly, and I have no control.
All I can do is watch, as I cut the tip of my finger, and pres it to the wall. I see myself write out a message, before I have control once again.
I step back and read the bloody words. Just surrender now, you have already lost ~RS.
What is wrong with you Ira? I growl at my Lycan.
I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. This is the perfect situation in which to gloat, she laughs. I just roll my eyes and focus on getting out of here.
You're a moron, I quickly tell her before cutting the link.
I hear Blake go up the stairs, before suddenly snarling furiously. Wow, now he realizes that we're here? Ira snorts.
I growl at her before grabbing the folder, yanking open the door and running down the hall. I see a window at the end of the hall, and jump straight through it.
Glass shatters and cuts my skin, but I ignore it. I hit the grass and start running immediately.
As soon as I'm in the forest I scale a tree and move through the branches. I hear an angry roar from Blake, and I can't help the chuckle that escaped my lips.
I watch patrols pass underneath me, and I keep running until I pass the border. I jump down from the trees and burst into the main clearing.
Blood covers my face from the glass, and my pack members gasp.
I need you in my house now! I order Shade, Luke, Derek, and Hailey. I run to my house and collapse onto the floor of my living room.
Seconds later, they all burst into the room. Shade at the front, worry in her eyes.
"What did you do?" She shrieks.
"Don't worry, its just from glass. I broke through a window when I was getting out of Blake's house," I wave her away.
"You went to his house!" Hailey gasps, while Shade growls.
"You said you would be careful!" She snarls at me.
"We have bigger problems," I snap, tossing the folder onto the floor in front of me.
"What's in there?" Luke asks.
Derek picks it up and looks at the two maps.
"Well the map of his territory is good, how did he get one of ours?" Hailey asks. I shrug and run a hand through my hair.
"That I don't know, but you need to look at the shipping order," I tell them. Shade grabs it and looks over it. Her eyes widen and she looks up at me in panic.
"They're building a bomb."
