Chapter Four: Gunshots
"We're going to need a lot more wolves," Derek says from below me.
"Ya think!" I ask sarcastically, as I jump down from the tree. He rolls his eyes and turns to the sound of the wolves coming closer. There are dozens, coming in waves, and I know that tonight, a lot of Lycans are going to die.
I whipped my gun out and started shoot the wolves that were beginning to appear through the trees. They fall over each other quickly, and around me my warriors have shifted into their Lycans.
The first wave was small, and we dealt with them quickly, but the second wave was much larger. I have my gun in my hand, but I am using my fists.
I am quickly surrounded by wolves, and I can hear a nearby howl. I stop and look around for a moment.
I shoot one in the stomach before throwing kicks and punches at the rest. There were two left, and I drop to the dirt and take out their feet.
Dirt and blood cover my face, and I am breathing heavily from the adrenaline pumping through my body. Snarling wolves and Lycans surround me, and I look into the trees to see a third wave of warriors.
I curse under my breath and put a new cartridge in my gun. The wolves pour through the trees and I start shooting again.
I am in front, so many of them go past me to meet my warriors behind. I only focus on the ones in front, until I feel something hit the back of my shoulder hard.
I hiss and slap my free hand over it, it comes back covered in blood and liquid silver. I curse once again and whip around to shoot the guy.
His fist hits me in the face, my head snaps to the side, and I growl furiously. I start to fight and shoot my gun around him when he doubles over after a punch in the gut.
Suddenly, Shade's scent catches my nose, and she appears in front of me. She tackles the guy I was fighting to the ground and quickly kills him.
"Hey, how are things going?" She asks in a calm voice.
"Fine, you?" I ask her back with a small laugh. I hear a gun go off and duck to avoid it. I run at the wolf and stab him with my dagger.
"Same old, same old. Oh hey how about the weather? Nice start to the summer if I do say so myself," she jokes. I laugh before shooting at several approaching wolves.
I'm going to follow him, see where he takes me, Shade mindlink me. I see her starting to chase after a running wolf.
Okay, be careful. Tell me if you run into Blake, I tell her.
About that, I have something to tell you when I get back, she says.
I hate it when you keep secrets, I growl before ending the link. I start shooting until my clip runs out and I quickly grab another from my belt.
I reload and begin shooting again. When there are no more wolves for a second, I reach over and yank the bullet put of my shoulder.
I hiss in pain and drop the bloody bullet to the ground before starting to shoot again. When my bullets run out again, I put the gun away and trade it for my dagger.
The blade is silver and burns the wolves as I stab them. I see no more wolves coming so I start to help my pack members.
Sweat covers my forehead as I run back and forth, stabbing wolves, and snapping their necks.
Listen, I found Jinx and Jackson. What do I do? Shade mindlink me.
Damn it, this is what I was worried about, I think with a growl.
You had better not kill them! I yell at her.
Was not planning on it, but there is another wolf and they know I'm here. Jackson aimed a gun at me a while ago but I jumped away before he could do anything, she states flatly.
I sigh in thought and stab another wolf in the heart.
Get out of there and join back up with me, I order her.
Sorry, no can do, I'm taking a look around. Take care and I'll talk to you later, she tells me.
Get back here-, I start to snarl but she ends the link.
"You are going to fucking die when you get back Shade," I snarl and look into the trees.
Garren, I need you to make it so Shade can't get out of her room, I need it now, I mindlink the builder quickly.
Yes Alpha, he replies curtly and I turn back to the battle.
I see another wave of wolves start to come and I groan tiredly.
"You have got to be shitting me right now!" I growl loudly and take out my last clip of bullets. I shove it into the gun and start shooting again.
I hear an explosion go off in the distance, and curse Shade's name again. I sense Shade run over the border and shake my head.
I'm back, she thinks weakly.
You bitch! Don't ever do that again! I start screaming!ing profanities at her and she laughs.
Listen, I destroyed the pack house. Not ours, Blake's, and good news, I have one grenade left, she tells me. I start to think and gasp in realization.
I think we are thinking the same thing, I say.
I think we are. Round up the other live enemy wolves and il tell you when to run, she tells me.
Okay we will be waiting, I tell her and end the link.
Get the wolves to back up as much as you can! I order the rest of my wolves. They give me a curt nod and I run back and forth, growling at the enemy wolves until they are running towards Shade.
I see her through the trees, and she yanks the pin from the grenade.
Get away! Quickly! She yells to me. I repeat the order to the rest of my pack and back away just as it explodes.
The rest of the enemy wolves were quickly killed or injured. I see Shade run towards me, and I give her a prompt slap to the face.
"What did I do?!" She yells confused. The wolves around us gasp, she was the only person to talk back to me.
"You know perfectly well what you did! I don't think it needs much explaining!" I yell back. She laughs and the pack gasps again. She crosses her arms over her chest, rolling her eyes, and smiles.
"Did I not just help us win?" She questions making me growl.
"Yeah, yeah, you are still getting punished for running into enemy territory," I tell her.
Finished Alpha, and we moved the kit into your room, Garren quickly mindlinks me.
Good, thank you, I tell him and turn back to Shade.
"Fuck," she mumbles and I drag her by the arm back to the house. I yell at her once we get inside, and I can tell that once again, she is not fully listening.
When I was finished dragged her up to her room, and shove her inside. She looks at me confused when I start to close the door.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Were you not listening? You're staying in here until future notce," I say slamming the door. I lock the door and I hear her growl.
I hear her run to her closet, and try to open the door connecting our bedrooms.
"Nice try! Locked that one too, and I already locked the blacony door remotely," I yell.
"Shut up!" She yells back. I laugh and walk away. I faintly hear her punch the wall, and hiss in pain.
Did I forget to mention that they put silver in the walls? Oops, I think to myself with a smirk.
I head back outside to the battle site. I close my eyes and sigh sadly at the bodies littering the ground.
I feel Ira start to take over as rage floods my body. I growl and stare into the forest towards The Silver Bloods Pack.
I hear an angry howl fill the night. I know exactly whose it is, and it takes every ounce of control that I have, to not storm the pack right now. At that exact moment, as I see my own pack dead on the forest floor, I decide to make a promise.
"I am going to torture you Blake, slowly and painfully. I'm going to kill every single person and thing you love right on front of you, and then I'm going to slit your throat."
