Chapter 30: Just Us

The next morning, the sun peeked through the curtains of their hotel room as Isa stirred awake. She stretched, a contented sigh escaping her lips, and glanced around to find Jey already up and moving around the room.

"Morning," Isa murmured sleepily, rubbing her eyes as she sat up.

Jey flashed her a mischievous grin. "Morning, baby. How'd you sleep?"

"Like a rock," she replied, her voice still a bit thick with sleep. "What's going on? Why are you up so early?"

Jey knelt beside the bed, his eyes glinting with excitement. "Well, I've got a surprise for you."

Isa arched an eyebrow. "A surprise?"

He nodded. "Yep. I know you've been loving the time with the kids, but today, you and I are getting a little break."

Isa's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

"We're taking a day for ourselves," Jey said, holding up a set of tickets for an exclusive park experience. "Roman and the rest of the family are taking the kids today. You and me? We're gonna enjoy the park without worrying about anything else."

Isa's heart skipped a beat. The idea of having a day to herself with Jey, away from the kids, was a welcome escape. It wasn't that she didn't love spending time with Sofia, Mateo, and Kingston, but a little time for just the two of them was long overdue.

"I... I don't even know what to say." Isa grinned, her voice soft with gratitude. "That sounds amazing, Jey."

He smiled, standing up and offering her a hand. "Get ready, babe. I've already planned everything. Just you and me, and we're gonna have a great time."

With a few moments to get ready, Isa slipped into comfortable clothes, her excitement building with each passing second. When she was ready, Jey led her out of their room and down to the lobby where Roman, Galina, and the kids were waiting.

"Good luck, you two," Roman called out with a knowing grin. "We've got the kids covered for the day. Enjoy your time off."

Isa laughed, waving them off as she followed Jey to the car. "Thanks, Roman!"

As they made their way to the park, the world felt lighter. It was just Jey and Isa, no responsibilities for the day.

Once they arrived, Jey surprised her again by taking her to one of the less crowded, scenic spots in the park. There were no long lines, no rushing around-just the two of them strolling hand-in-hand through the attractions.

Isa felt like she could breathe for the first time in days. She looked over at Jey, smiling wide. "I forgot how nice it is to just relax and enjoy the moment."

Jey smiled back, squeezing her hand gently. "Yeah, me too. We deserve this."

They spent the day exploring the quieter areas of the park, riding rides just the two of them, grabbing ice cream and snacks, and laughing together like they used to when everything felt easier. Isa was surprised at how much she had missed moments like this, just the two of them without any distractions.

Around midday, they found a cozy bench by a scenic lake. Isa kicked off her shoes and stretched her legs out. "This is perfect."

Jey nodded, sitting down next to her. He leaned back and put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. "It's been way too long since we've had time like this."

Isa rested her head against his chest, breathing in the peaceful atmosphere. "I didn't realize how much I needed it."

Jey ran his fingers through her hair, the comfort of the moment settling over them both. "We've been through a lot, Isa. And I think it's important we take time to remember why we're doing all this. For each other. For our family."

Isa lifted her head to look at him, her eyes soft with affection. "I know. I just... sometimes I get so caught up in everything that I forget to slow down."

"That's why I'm here," Jey said, his eyes locking onto hers. "To remind you to slow down sometimes."

Isa smiled, her heart swelling with love. "I'm lucky to have you."

Jey kissed the top of her head. "And I'm lucky to have you, Isa."

As they sat there, time seemed to slow. The park buzzed around them, but in their little corner, everything was perfect. Just the two of them, reconnecting and enjoying the peace of the moment. The world could wait. Today was about them, and nothing else mattered.
