Chapter 18: Shopping and Packing for Disney

The next morning, Isa woke up to the sound of little feet running down the hallway, followed by the unmistakable squeals of excitement. It took her a moment to remember why the twins were so hyper this early, but as soon as she glanced at the suitcases by the door, it hit her-Disney.

She stretched, rolling onto her side, only to realize that Jey was already awake. He sat on the edge of the bed, scrolling through his phone, looking more relaxed than she had seen him in a long time.

"Morning," he said, flashing her a small smile.

"Morning," she replied, sitting up. "The kids are already bouncing off the walls."

Jey chuckled. "I figured. You ready for the madness?"

Isa sighed dramatically. "As ready as I'll ever be."

Just then, Sofia and Mateo came bursting into the room, eyes wide with excitement.

"Mommy, we have to go shopping today!" Sofia announced, climbing onto the bed.

Mateo nodded eagerly. "Yeah! We need Mickey shirts, and I wanna get a Spider-Man hat!"

Jey laughed, setting his phone aside. "Y'all really tryna spend all my money before we even get there, huh?"

Sofia grinned. "Duh, Daddy. We have to look cute for the pictures!"

Isa shook her head with a soft laugh. "Alright, alright. Shopping first, then we'll finish packing."

The twins cheered before dashing out of the room, already planning what they wanted to buy. Jey stood up, stretching. "Guess we better get moving."

Isa nodded, running a hand through her hair. "Yeah. Let's get this over with before the stores get crazy."

A few hours later, they arrived at the mall, the twins practically dragging them from store to store.

Their first stop was a store filled with Disney merch, and as soon as they walked in, Mateo made a beeline for the superhero section.

"Mommy, look!" he shouted, holding up a Spider-Man hoodie. "Can I get it? Please?"

Isa glanced at Jey, who smirked and shrugged. "Go for it, buddy."

Mateo cheered, running to the next rack while Sofia stood in front of a wall of Minnie Mouse ears, her eyes full of indecision.

"I don't know which ones to get," she said dramatically, looking between a sparkly pink pair and a classic red and white polka dot pair.

Jey chuckled, picking up the pink ones. "These match your style, princess."

Sofia beamed, grabbing them. "Okay! These it is!"

They spent the next hour picking out matching Mickey shirts, comfortable shoes for all the walking, and a few extra souvenirs the kids insisted they needed. By the time they were done, Jey was carrying multiple shopping bags, shaking his head in amusement.

"I ain't never spent this much money this fast," he joked as they headed back to the car.

Isa smirked. "Welcome to Disney prep."

Once they got home, the real challenge began-packing.

The twins were so eager to pack their new outfits that Isa and Jey had to step in before they stuffed their entire wardrobes into their suitcases.

"Baby girl, you do not need three Minnie Mouse dresses," Isa told Sofia, shaking her head.

"But, Mommy-"

"Nope. Pick two."

Sofia huffed but eventually agreed. Meanwhile, Jey was trying to reason with Mateo, who was attempting to sneak extra toys into his bag.

"Dude, you really need all these action figures?" Jey asked, arms crossed.

Mateo nodded seriously. "Yes. What if I get bored?"

Jey sighed, then crouched down. "Alright, pick two. And I promise, I'll buy you a new toy when we get there."

Mateo's face lit up. "Deal!"

Isa watched the exchange, a strange feeling settling in her chest. She had gotten so used to doing things on her own that seeing Jey step up like this again felt... different. Good, even.

Once everything was packed and set by the door, the twins collapsed onto the couch, exhausted but happy.

"We're really going to Disney," Sofia murmured sleepily, cuddling up to Isa.

Isa ran a hand through her daughter's curls, smiling softly. "Yeah, baby. We are."

Jey sat down beside them, draping an arm over the back of the couch. He glanced at Isa, his expression unreadable. "This is gonna be a trip to remember."

Isa met his gaze, something unspoken lingering between them.

"Yeah," she murmured. "It really is."
