Chapter 12
A few hours passed by in the Infirmary, with Madam Pomfrey taking notes on the patients she had to treat today, she had indeed been quite surprised when the Slytherin Vampire had brought a young Gryffindor girl to her, at first she assumed he'd done something to her as part of the rivalry between houses, but she was proven wrong when Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape came into the room, and explained about the situation with the Troll.
"I must say, young Dimitrescu, I am pleased that you saved miss Tyler from the Troll" Dumbledore said to the taller man, while said Blonde haired Gryffindor was laying on one of the Hospital beds, having not woken up just yet.
"After volunteering herself to feed me her blood willingly, it only seemed fair" (Y/N) said to the Headmaster, who smiled back to young Vampiric man with a twinkle in his eyes.
"So... it was you who slew the Troll?" Snape asked with a raised brow, in response (Y/N) raised his hand and extended the long, bladed claws from his fingers, his lips pulling into a smirk as he wiggled his fingers, causing the blades to rub together.
"Yes, I expected it to be much tougher though... I must say it's blood was rather repugnant" (Y/N) replied as his nose wrinkled in disgust as he remembered the foul taste of the Troll's blood on his tongue.
"Either way... you did kill the Troll, and saved two Students, I believe a reward is in order, ten points to Slytherin, for your heroics" Snape said with a smirk on his face toward McGonagall, likely feeling smug that he got the excuse to reward a Slytherin for saving the life of two Gryffindor students.
"Yes, I agree, though I would have to ask that we keep this incident quiet, after all... it is linked to his true nature" Dumbledore said to the other adults in the room, who nodded to his suggestion, (Y/N) was also quite relieved, last thing he wanted was more attention.
"I get the feeling it may be hard to hide a slain Troll from the students... especially if Miss Tyler insists on thanking her saviour" McGonagall pointed out to the Headmaster, she looked to Rose who was still unconscious and resting on the bed she was placed on.
"Yes... for now, I believe that Mr. Dimitrescu should return to the Slytherin Dorms, after such an eventful evening, I imagine he must want some rest?" Snape said as he looked to the much taller man, who looked to the still sleeping Rose before he nodded and left the medical room with his Head of House.
As they walked the halls to the Dungeons, (Y/N) noticed that Snape was limping slightly and looked to be in pain, he could also smell the blood in the air, he took in a deep breath and then exhaled as they made their way to the Slytherin Common Room.
"Your wounded, I can smell your blood, Professor" (Y/N) said as they walked, Snape glanced toward him with caution, his hand moving closer to his Wand, just in case he lost control and tried to attack him.
"Yes... I must have injured myself when searching for the Troll" Snape said to him as he limped along with him, (Y/N) chose to say no more on the matter, they soon reached the House and Snape opened the door, allowing (Y/N) to enter the Common Room, where he heard the students complaining about how the Halloween Feast was cut short.
"There you are, why did you sneak off like that?" Abigail asked as she walked over to him, giving him a look asking him to explain himself, though it clearly wasn't that effective on him.
"I just had some unfinished business to handle, I must say though... considering my greater height, you would have thought someone would have noticed my absence sooner" (Y/N) said casually as he walked into the Common Room, passing by other members of the House as (Y/N) started to make his way to his room for some privacy, also seeing Malfoy giving him a dirty look as he sat with his two slugs.
"They did! The Prefect asked me where you went, and I had no idea what to say to him!" Abigail whisper-yelled as she followed after him, he simply smirked as he walked and entered his bedroom, with Abigail slipping in under his arm and into his room.
"I apologise, lady Saltstone, Rose and some young Gryffindor girl got cornered by that Troll, I had to step in and stop the brute before he clubbed them both to pulp" (Y/N) said to Abigail, who stopped and whirled around to look at him.
"Is she alright?!" Abigail asked him, her bright Blue eyes wide with worry for the Gryffindor girl she became friends with, something about letting a Vampire drink their blood on a daily basis sparked a rather odd friendship between the girls involved, well... apart from Penelope, who wanted to maintain distance.
"Yes, I managed to handle the Troll, it's blood tasted vile though..." (Y/N) replied to her as he walked to the window of his room that looked out to the Black Lake, the water at night was so dark it was like staring out into an abyss.
"Did you get in trouble with Snape for sneaking off like you did?" Abigail asked him with a sigh, as she covered her face with her hand, feeling a bit frustrated with her much taller, Romanian friend.
"No, I believe that favouritism toward our House helped quite a bit, he also awarded me points for my bravery" (Y/N) said as he glanced out of the window in his room, admiring the view of the Black Lake below the surface of the water, there was something... peaceful about the view when looking into the deep, Black water.
"Stupid Troll... and I was enjoying the food too" Abigail sighed to herself with a huff as she sat down on the Green Leather couch, (Y/N) glanced at the pouting girl before he approached her, pulling something from his robes.
Abigail looked up and saw him offering her a large, Orange and Black lollipop, she took it with a quiet thank you as he pulled another from his robe and sat beside her, and licked the second one.
"Hmm... tastes like pumpkin" (Y/N) said with a smirk, Abigail giggled and the two just sat together, enjoying the treats (Y/N) managed to sneak out before the evacuation, until Abigail finished her candy and went back to her room to sleep.
THE NEXT MORNING, IN THE INFIRMARY
In the Hospital Wing of the School, Rose let out a groan and her eyes fluttered open and she sat herself up in the bed, she looked around in confusion before she realised where she was.
"I see your awake, that's good, look this way please" Madam Pomfrey said as she walked towards Rose's bed, and checked her for any injuries, with Rose answering her questions.
"Good, it seems there's no lasting damage, do you have any pains?" the Matron of the Hospital Wing asked her, as she bustled over her various medical potions, bandages and medications to treat the students, and their often times unusual ailments and injuries.
"No... sorry, what happened? How did I get here?" Rose asked sounding very confused about the situation, rubbing her eyes and her head slightly.
"You had a rather close encounter with a Mountain Troll, your very lucky to be alive, considering the circumstances" Madam Pomfrey said to her in an unamused tone, likely thinking that Rose had joined Hermione in her foolish quest to go after the Troll, thinking they knew how to handle one.
"Oh my God... I remember now, (Y/N), he... he saved my life" Rose said quietly in surprise, before she gasped as she remembered that she wasn't alone in that bathroom!
"Wait! There was another girl there with me, young, bushy Brown hair-" Rose said hurriedly as she went to get up and check the other beds for the girl she was comforting in the girl's bathroom.
"She's fine, Miss Granger was perfectly fine when she was found, though I must say, it was rather reckless of her to try and take on a fully grown Mountain Troll, just because she read up on them" Madam Pomfrey said to Rose in a disapproving tone, Rose was confused and about to question her when the doors were opened and the Head of Gryffindor House, Professor McGonagall and Hermione Granger came into the room, Hermione hurrying over to the bed when she saw Rose was awake.
"Oh, thank goodness your alright! I'm so sorry about what happened, thank you... for saving me" Hermione said as she stopped by the side of Rose's bed, a look of guilt and relief on the bushy haired girl's face.
"What? But... I didn't-" Rose said, sounding even more confused.
"It's good to see that your awake, Miss Tyler, are you quite alright?" Professor McGonagall asked Rose, sounding very relieved that the blonde haired girl was finally awake, and unharmed.
"Y-Yeah, professor, I'm fine, I think I just fainted, which is rather embarrassing" Rose said as her cheeks turned slightly pink from feeling embarrassed, rubbing the back of her neck as well.
"Considering what you were up against, I'm certain quite a few young Witches would have fainted" McGonagall said to her pointedly with a disapproving tone in her voice, when suddenly the doors to the Infirmary opened, and two second year boys with bright Orange hair came running over to the bed.
"Rose!" Fred exclaimed, sounding happy to see that she was finally awake.
"So glad your alright, mate" George added in, also very happy to see her awake.
"How could you go off and try to fight a Troll-" Fred asked her, sounding unhappy.
"-Without us there to help?" George finished the sentence, sounding just as annoyed at being "left out" of the fun.
"I wasn't planning to fight a Troll, guys, it just sort of... happened, when I was trying to cheer up, erm... I'm sorry, what's your name?" Rose said to the Ginger haired twins, before addressing the twelve year old girl standing with Professor McGonagall.
"Hermione Granger" Hermione answered Rose formally, showing her manners to the older Gryffindor girl.
"Cheer her up?" Fred asked her, sounding confused.
"That's not what we heard" George added in, also sounding rather confused.
"We heard that she went off to try and fight the Troll on her own" Fred said as he glanced at Hermione briefly before looking back to their friend.
"But got saved by Harry and Ron, and that you got taken to the Infirmary" George finished the sentence, while Hermione had that "put on the spot" look most children had when caught in a lie, Rose went to correct them when she noticed the look McGonagall gave her.
"Oh, I see... I must have passed out just as those two arrived" Rose said as she went along with the lie, much to Hermione's relief, though Rose wasn't happy about lying about (Y/N)'s role.
"Ah okay, anyways, we're gonna go ahead to the Great Hall" George said to her first, motioning to the doors with his thumb.
"We'll save you a plate of food!" Fred said to her as they both started to walk to the doors of the Infirmary together.
"Better make sure Ron doesn't eat it all" George and Fred both said together with some annoyance in their voices, as they reached the doors and left for the Great Hall.
"Thank you again, I... hope we can perhaps read a book together sometime?" Hermione said as she looked at Rose hopefully, the older girl smiled back and her and nodded, making Hermione brighten up before she left to also go and get herself breakfast, leaving Rose with Professor McGonagall.
"Professor, what's going on, that's... not what happened?" Rose asked Professor McGonagall, sounding very confused, and also concerned that someone had decided to take credit for what (Y/N) had done.
"The Headmaster, as well as your friend, Mr. Dimitrescu asked that it not be known that he was the one who killed the Troll, he and Dumbledore are both concerned that it may lead to people finding out about his... condition" McGonagall explained to Rose, who moved to sit with her legs hanging off the edge of bed in thought.
"I see, I guess I can understand why they decided to say that instead..." Rose said as she got off of the bed, standing on her own two feet and walking around the bed and standing in front of her Head of House.
"I must say, I was quite surprised to hear of a Slytherin helping a Gryffindor, if only more people were able to look past the rivalries of their houses and try to get along" McGonagall said to her with a small smile on her face, before they both made their way out of the Infirmary and soon reached the Great Hall.
Rose greeted the twins Fred and George happily and sat with them both, the two boys handing her a plate of breakfast, mostly sausage, eggs and toast, also having to smack their brother Ron's hand away when he tried to sneak some of it off Rose's plate, she then looked over to the Slytherin table and saw (Y/N) was talking with Abigail and eating his own breakfast, likely having already fed on his dose of blood this morning.
"Actually, can you two watch my breakfast for me quick? I have to go and do something quickly" Rose asked Fred and George, before she suddenly stood up from her seat and walked up the length of the Gryffindor table, passing by the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw tables.
As she walked Fred and George watched her, Hermione also watched her curiously, Clara noticed her walking toward the Slytherin table and set her book of Charms down to see what Rose would do, Amy was also watching her with interest as she was standing by Rory, who was sitting and eating his breakfast at the Hufflepuff table, and Penelope looked away from Percy to see what Rose was planning to do as well.
"Hello Rose, glad to see your alright" Abigail said as she saw the Gryffindor girl approaching their table gave Rose a kind smile, before taking a bite of her Toast with jam.
"Morning, Lady Tyler" (Y/N) said to her with a nod as he adjusted his hood, his Honey-Gold eyes meeting Rose's Forest-Green eyes, she smiled back at him, feeling a little nervous as she felt eyes on her.
"What do you want, Gryffindor?" Draco Malfoy suddenly called out to her from down the table, speaking to her with disgust, as his two goons Crabbe and Goyle also gave her nasty looks.
"Malfoy, manners, she's a lady after all" (Y/N) suddenly barked at the little Blonde boy, who jumped slightly from the authoritative tone in his voice, before (Y/N) returned his attention to the fourteen year old girl.
"I just wanted to say, thank you" Rose said as she hugged him, having some trouble wrapping her small arms around his neck as she stood on her tip toes, breathing in the scent of his hair as she held onto him.
"Your most welcome, young one" (Y/N) said as he tentatively returned her embrace, gently patting her back in response before she decided to take a chance while she was already here and gave him a quick kiss to his cheek.
Several students gasped or whooped loudly at that, Rose quickly ended the kiss with a bright red face, before she hurried back to the Gryffindor table, hiding her red face and leaving several stunned Slytherin's at their table.
"Wow, your her hero~" Abigail cooed teasingly, causing (Y/N) to roll his eyes and mess up her hair, making her slap at his hand and pout as she tried to fix her hair, as this happened, the Duke smiled and watched from his seat at his own table, which had a nice selection of foods that appeared on his plate.
SOME TIME LATER
November soon rolled around and the weather turned very cold, every morning the ground was covered in frost and many of the students started to dress warmly with thick coats, gloves and scarves, though (Y/N) wasn't too bothered by the cold, it was much colder back home, plus it was certainly better than beaming sunlight all the time.
It was Sunday morning and (Y/N) was currently walking the courtyard with both Abigail and Clara, Abigail a little wobbly from being the one to give him her blood this morning, but the Blood Restoring Potion was helping to replace what was lost.
As the three walked together, several students from Ravenclaw and Slytherin looking at them strangely, confused and surprised about a Slytherin being seen with someone from another house in a friendly way.
As the three walked together, the Slytherin Vampire took notice of the other students excitement, especially the older students.
"Hm, everyone seems to have suddenly gotten quite lively, I guess the cold must have pepped them all up?" (Y/N) said as he saw students from every house hurrying around the halls, chatting excitedly to each other.
"It's not just that, it's also because Quidditch Season's beginning, everyone's excited for it" Abigail said with a smile as she noticed other kids that were talking excitedly.
"What's Quidditch?" (Y/N) asked the two girls as he stopped walking, sounding intrigued with what it was everyone was so excited about.
"Wait, you don't know what Quidditch is? How?" Clara asked him as she stopped walking and looked up at him, Abigail also stopped walking and looked at him with a raised brow.
"Do people forget, that I was raised in the Mortal realm, and knew nothing of Magic or other Wizard things before coming to this school?" (Y/N) asked them both with a raised brow, and a confused frown on his face.
"Oh, right... sorry" Clara said as she looked down embarrassed, sometimes she or others would forget he lived in the Muggle World, and a small isolated Village in the mountains for that matter, so there were likely a lot of things he didn't know too much about.
"It's fine, Miss Ozwald, now, would either of you care to explain to me what this sport entails?" (Y/N) asked two of his friends, who then led him into the Library, where it was warmer, and they sat down together in a corner of the room, while Clara went to find a certain book.
A little later on, Clara returned with a copy of Quidditch Through the Ages, however it looked a bit worn and beaten, it must be a very popular book.
"That right there is the best book to read to learn about Quidditch, it talks about the history of the sport, how it changed, the rules and more" Clara said happily as she sat down at the table with Abigail and (Y/N).
"Hm, I think I might purchase a copy to read at home during the Christmas holidays, if I can't finish this one" (Y/N) said as he gave the book a look, not too happy with how grubby and abused it looked.
"It's a pretty good read, but we don't have too long until the game between Slytherin and Gryffindor, you'll get to see what a game looks like properly" Abigail said with a smile as she was sitting to his right.
"Oh? When's this game starting?" (Y/N) asked her as he looked to Abigail, interested in seeing the sport for himself.
"In... three hours, we should leave in two though, so we can get to the stands and get good seats" Clara said happily, smiling so that her teeth were showing, (Y/N) had a small smile on his face at her energy.
The three settled in and quietly read their own books, or quietly talked to each other, until a certain blonde Gryffindor approached their table.
"Is this seat taken?" Rose asked the three with a hopeful smile on her face, (Y/N) motioned to the chair next to Clara, which Rose pulled out and sat in happily, pulling her Charms book and began reading, while also glancing at (Y/N) from time to time.
Not too long later, two more chairs were placed at the table and both Amy and Rory sat down as well, the four who were already at the table gave the couple an odd look, which Amy noticed quickly.
"What? I'm just here to make sure he doesn't eat one of you" Amy said defensively as she glanced at (Y/N), who gave a shrug at her, not affected by the look she was giving him at all.
"And I'm... just here to hang out?" Rory said awkwardly, as he glanced at the taller man, only to look away quickly, feeling intimidated by his size.
"Whatever you two say..." Clara said awkwardly, before the group went back to reading their books and chatting to each other, Amy still watching (Y/N) even as he spoke with the girls, until soon enough, the time came for them to go to the game, (Y/N) closed the book and put it back on the shelf and left with the others.
The girls walked along together, chatting more with each other while (Y/N) walked with them, it was a very odd sight with him being so much taller compared to the group of four girls and one boy.
As they went down to the field, (Y/N) saw the pitch and the stands, he was quite impressed with them, soon the group separated to their own houses, with Abigail staying close to (Y/N) as they went to find their spots in their section, rather close to Malfoy and his group, (Y/N) was actually looking forward to seeing what this game was about.
He watched with his hood pulled up as the Slytherin and Gryffindor teams walked out onto the grassy field, with Madam Hooch speaking to both teams, they then all mounted their Brooms, and the game began!
