Chapter 2

Elena sat on the train, her headphones in, ignoring the world around her as she tried to forget the impending doom that is: reality. When it stopped, she got up and got out, dodging people and crossing the football field, this was the time when she would walk with Peter. Now that Elena thought about it, she did literally everything with Peter.

She sighed as she went to her locker. She made sure she got there before Peter every morning so it wasn't difficult 24/7. Elena sighed as she saw that he was there, staring at her as she approached her locker. She looked at her locker and put in the combination, opening it, and grabbing her books.

"Why aren't you talking to me anymore? I'm sorry that I haven't been paying attention to you, the Stark Internship is exhausting," he said and she looked at him.

"I understand," Elena said as she stuffed her bag and changed out her books," but a text back would have been nice."

She shut her locker and locked it, walking away, mentally hitting herself over the head with a toilet lid. Elena didn't understand why she couldn't forgive him. At this point, she went over her friendship with Peter and realized that after the Stark internship, he wasn't putting effort into their friendship. And it pissed her off.

Elena shook her head as she went up the stairs, she knew she was out of shape when she felt her thighs burn as she walked.

"Good god," she sighed and looked at the teacher that stood by the door, waiting for her to go inside. Elena quickly rushed in, going to her seat and felt her pocket vibrate.

She pulled out her phone, a text from Peter.

I'm Sorry.

Elena left him on read and put her phone in her pocket, not wanting to deal with him at the moment. She looked up at the board where the problem she needed to solve should be.

"I don't feel like teaching today, so I'm showing a movie, educational, I don't care if you're on your phone, if an administrator walks in, put that shit away and act like you know what's going on," Mr. Morris said and Elena smiled faintly, pulling out her phone. She pressed Peters thread and started typing.

We need to talk, I don't care when, but we do, your actions have been pissing me off lately. And I swear to god, if you blow me off, I'm stabbing someone.

She sighed softly as the three typing bubbles went up. Another text from Peter popped up.

I promise I won't let you down. :)

Elena nodded and closed out of the app, going to her blog app and scrolling. She soon decided to look at the follower count, going to her settings where it should say.

She gasped at the follower count, putting her hand over her mouth and she smiled.

"You good, Elena?" Mr. Morris asked and she nodded.

"I'm doing great," she said and went to make a post.

'6,000 followers??? This needs to be rewarded...'

Elena thought about it and came up with a perfect idea.

'I'll try and get an interview with the Spider-Man, stay tuned for details!'

Elena made the post and instantly got even more followers. She smiled and looked up, putting her phone in her jacket. Mr. Harrington had turned off the lights and the documentary started.

She decided to just go on her phone, scrolling through different social media apps. She noticed something pop up on the top of her screen, and she realized that her blog was blowing up.

Then her Twitter blew up, and her Instagram. Everything blew up. She went looking around and finally decided to start asking around. Elena raised her eyebrows at her Twitter DMs. She went into and saw something that made her eyes go wide.

J. Jonah Jameson had requested her email, for a 'Formal Inquiry' from the Daily Bugle.

She immediately sent it and minutes later, she got an email.

Dear Ms. Faulkner,
It seems that your leads on Spider-Man have gotten you well known, and your next interview with him can lead to success here at the Daily Bugle.
We are offering 20% profit from the release of the paper with this headlining, and an internship here at the Bugle, your youth and talents can be put to good work here!

We hope to see you soon,
The Daily Bugle

Elena had to stand up, her phone on her desk as she walked around, her mind was racing as her hand was over her mouth. Tears were in her eyes as she sat down.

She picked up her phone and took a deep breath, she composed herself and quickly typed out a proper email, checking her spelling and grammar. Elena quickly sent the send button, grinning her ass off as she got a few stares from nearby classmates.

She ran a hand through her hair as she got another email.

Dear Ms. Faulkner,
Alright! We will see you Saturday morning.

9:00 am is best, our secretary, Linda will have a badge for you. When you get your badge, come upstairs for your first assignment as an intern.

Best Regards,
The Daily Bugle

Elena smiled and looked to Mr. Harrington who had a look of worry on his face. He waved her over and she quietly got up, her phone in her pocket, still buzzing from all the notifications.

"Are you okay?" He asked and she chuckled.

"I got an internship with the Daily Bugle, they want me to publish one of my articles through them," Elena whispered to him.

Mr. Harrington widened his eyes, smiling.

"Congratulations, you'll be a great part of their team," he said and she smiled.

"Thank you," Elena said softly.

"Alright, go back to your seat," Mr. Harrington smiled and Elena did. She pulled out her phone, altering her notifications and her bios.

The bell rang, making her sigh as she now had to go to a class that she shared with Peter.  Yes, she wanted to talk, but talking in class, where there are interruptions wouldn't help with the seriousness of what she needs to say.

God, why are friendships so hard?
