3-27-18 [Raindrops] [Poem]
Thud, thud, thud on a distant roof
A farmer drudges through the field
His horse clops upon its hoof
The rain refused to yield
Clam, clam, clam goes the blacksmith's hammer
The cherry iron bends on the anvil
A small boy struggles to stammer
His name is Manvel*
Trot, trot, trot drums against the road
A soldier yells over a gunshot
The farmer looks and drops his load
The blacksmith's steel is still hot
A cry breaks the sound of rain
Armor clattering warns the town
Another man falls in pain
Caught with his guard down
Lightning ripples through the sky
A stream of iron floods the square
The first, second, third all die
The fourth he does not spare
Thud, thud, thud, goes the archer's bow
Soldiers ride to fill their place
The farmer's field with blood is sow'd
A heart quickens pace
Clam, clam, clam goes swords on shields
The blacksmith bravely stands and falls
His hand only a hammers wields
And the soldier's sword hardly dulls
Trot, trot, trot go the soldiers' steeds
Their goal finished and their money won
A single warrior, the gore he heeds
After the battle's done
His name is Manvel
*Yes that's actually a name xD It's also apparently the only word that rhymes with anvil
