In the months and years that followed Caia's and Mireille's untimely death, several changes took place around Sana Barbara and other locales, inspired by the twins' tragic story. While the girls' parents were able to inherit most of the remaining fortunes the sisters had originally received from their uncle, they also set up an endowment for research on the psychology of twins.

The Stanford Department of Psychology, historically one of the foremost authorities on sibling dynamics, received this grant as a welcome addition to their ongoing studies of twins' behavior worldwide.

Another large tranche of the money went back into the family's Rancho Tobias Vineyard itself. The business expanded its acreage to include thousands of new vines, split into two sections--an exclusive red wine and an exclusive white. They were labeled and marketed as collectibles under the titles Caia and Mireille.

As for Steve and Kate, they not only moved to Colorado, married, and took over the Boulder Civil Theater Project, but expanded their own work into screenwriting and film. They would enter their first indie creation to be judged at the Sundance Film festival in Aspen, co-written and featuring both of them as actors.

In the current year, Katie and Steve, now living a life of bliss, romantically and productively, received the amazing news  they were soon to be parents. Upon her latest visit to the Aspen obstetrics clinic, it was determined that the healthy mom-to-be was carrying robust twins—a pair of identical females.
