Chapter 9

"Hey.." I said awkwardly, as I stood in the doorway of Aiden's room.

Aiden sat on the edge of his bed, an angry look on his face as he listened to pack members moving around the room, setting up my bed, and bringing in my luggage.

"I know you don't like this.." I sighed, "I'm sorry."

"You're sorry." He said sarcastically, with a laugh. "You're just like Jason. Thinking you can force all this on me, make decisions, like my opinion means nothing. I even get to have an opinion anymore."

I looked to the floor, trying to put myself in his shoes. He was an alpha, they were prideful, strong, and their job was to run the pack, and here we were, ignoring his wishes and treating him like a child. I couldn't imagine what it felt like, but I also knew it was what he needed. Sometimes it was obvious he felt nothing, so his anger was welcomed by me, because at least he was feeling.

I waited awkwardly in the doorway while the half of the room opposite of Aiden's bed was set up as my own room. There was no divider between the two, but you could see where his ended and mine began. His desk marked the end of his side, where on my side they had set up a desk for me as well. They brought in a dresser, bedside table, bed, and a tall lamp that sat in the corner.

The few people in the room finally cleared out, and I walked into the room, taking a seat on my bed.

I stared forward at Aiden, who's bed was directly opposite of mine. His blue eyes stared in my direction, but looked right through me. I felt a pang of sadness, thinking of all the beautiful things he couldn't look at.

"Quit staring." He said sharply.

I jumped, shocked he somehow knew I was staring.

"I'm not." I lied quickly.

"Please, you've been staring so long I can feel it now. Plus you're not moving at all, what else would you be doing?" He stated, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Oh.." I said quietly.

I stood from the bed and began going through my bags, putting clothes away. I shot Aiden an occasional glance as he remained in the same spot, listening to my movements quietly.

It took me a couple hours to get everything put away. I had brought quite a bit, and had Celia send some more of my things over when I realized I would be staying longer than originally planned. I would still need to head back at some point to finish packing up my things from home, but for now what I had would be fine.

Aiden had moved to his chair a while ago, his face telling me he was deep in thought.

My laptop was all that remained at the bottom of my last bag. Placing it on my bedside table I pulled a pair of pajamas from my dresser and headed to the bathroom. I'd felt awkward moving my things into the bathroom since I shared it with Aiden, but I didn't know where else to keep everything.

I quickly showered before drying off and putting on my pjs. Wrapping my hair in my towel I stepped out of the bathroom, hurrying to my bed. I sat under the covers, leaning my back against the headboard as I sat my laptop on my lap.

I shot Celia a quick message from my laptop, missing my best friend terribly.

Hey Ce. I miss you all. How are you and the baby?

Send.

I waited a few moments before Celia's reply popped up on my screen.

Al! We all miss you too. Its been so weird not having you around. I'm doing great, and so is baby Celeste. A few more months until we get to meet her and it just can't get here quick enough.

I talked to Celia for a few hours, until I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. We planned to talk again tomorrow before saying our goodbyes. Shutting my laptop I scanned the room looking for Aiden.

He sat at his desk now, an empty plate to his side. Lucy had brought it in a hour or so ago, quietly placing it on his desk, smiling at me, and leaving quickly. I didn't blame her, it was extremely uncomfortable in here.

"Are you going to sleep?" I asked Aiden curiously.

"Eventually." He replied in a bored tone.

"Is it difficult? Sleeping?" I asked him softly.

"Sometimes."

"Oh.." I spoke, not quite knowing what to say. I hadn't really expected him to reply. "Well, goodnight." I told him, before snuggling under the covers, quickly falling asleep.
