Chapter 15

"And included are the forms requiring your signature to make the alliance legally binding." I read to Aiden.

We'd been in his office for hours as I read through stacks of paperwork.

"Shred it. That pack is extremely untrustworthy. They've made alliances in the past but always seem to find a loophole to pressure packs into financial support. They're irresponsible with their money, its why their always asking for alliances to help them get out of it."

"Alrighty." I replied dropping the forms into the shredder. "That was the last one!" I grinned.

Aiden returned my smile and held out his hand which I quickly took.

"I'm exhausted." He said, standing from his desk and pulling me into a tight hug.

"Me too." I chuckled.

It was getting late, so as soon as we made it back to our room I crawled into bed, falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

The sound of my phone ringing woke me from my peaceful sleep. I reached for my phone, shocked when I noticed the screen read 3:24 am.

Call from Cece was displayed on the screen, causing me to quickly click the 'accept' button and hold the phone to my ear.

"Cece! Are you ok? Whats wrong?" I asked frantically, wondering why she was calling in the middle of the night.

"It's Luca. Celia's in labor and wants you to get here as soon as you can. I know you've got a lot going on, but with everything thats happened in the pregnancy, we're not really sure how the baby is, Al. She needs you." He said, his voice sad.

"Of course, of course. I'm getting up now, I'll be there as soon as I can." I said, throwing my covers off and flipping the light on.

"I'll text you and keep you updated." He replied. "Talk later."

"Later." I said, quickly shutting my phone off and heading to my dresser with my suitcase.

"Whats going on?" Aiden asked confused, sitting up in his bed.

"Cecelia went into labor. She's had a lot of strange things happen throughout her pregnancy so they don't know if the baby's ok or not, she needs me there." I explained quickly.

"I'm coming with you." He said, getting out of bed, and walking into his closet, feeling around for his suitcase.

"Aiden the pack just got you back, they need you." I told him.

"I just got you, and I need you. I'm not going to sit here alone and worry about you. I won't be any help to the pack like that." He explained as he walked to his dresser.

I sighed, and continued packing. The pack would probably be upset that he's leaving so soon after they just got him back, but I understand his worry. After all, he lost his whole family, I'm all he has left.

By the time the sun was up, we were on the road. Luca had texted me a few time, assuring me things were going fine so far, but I couldn't help but worry.

I remained quiet for the most part, and Aiden sat at my side silently, holding my hand.

"Are you ok?" He spoke up.

"I'm just worried." I sighed.

"Thats understandable." He said, nodding.

"Celia and Luca have both been through so much, they can't lose the baby." I said quietly, my eyes tearing up.

"I'm sure everything will turn out ok. Doesn't Celia have the power to heal?" He asked.

"She does, but when she saved Luca it took a bit of it away. Its not as strong as it was." I explained.

"So I shouldn't get my hopes up that she may be able to fix my eyes?" He laughed, but I could hear disappointment in his voice.

"I um.. I don't think so. I'm so sorry." I answered sadly.

"Not your fault. I figured it couldn't be that easy." He said, giving my hand a squeeze.

We drove all day, and by the time we arrived the sun was setting. Luca had been texting me all day, so I knew the baby wasn't here yet.

Normally I would have helped the driver with my bags, but I was very impatient to get inside and see everyone. I'd missed them all so much.

I took Aiden's hand, helping him out of the car and leading him to the front door. He could get around better in his own pack house since he'd grown up there, but this was all new.

As I placed my hand on the door handle, Aiden pulled me back.

"Whats wrong?" I asked.

"Just give me a second.." He spoke quietly.

He breathed in deeply a couple times, and I could tell he was nervous.

"Aiden?" I asked again, taking both his hands in mine. "Whats wrong?"

"I just.. What if they don't think I'm good enough for you?" He said hesitantly.

I hugged him instantly. "They would never think that." I assured him.

"I hope not." He sighed.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Ready."

And with that I opened the door.

Oh man guys. Its been a while, huh? I'm so sorry about that. Let me tell you, its not that I haven't been trying to write these past few months, its that I just didn't know how to take this story where I want it. Depression is something thats different for everyone, but I still didn't want to bring him out of it too quick and make it look unrealistic, but at the same time I need to move it along because this book sets the story for the next one. Its almost like a filler book, but not quite. ANYWAY, HOPE YOU LOVE IT.
