Chapter 79 • Impeccable Timing

A/N: Apparently Wattpad won't let me post pics??? So the header pic is a collage of JJ wearing a bball cap, Harry in his sunnies at the airport in Japan and a random park bench with a pretty sunset. Wattpad can go eff itself lol

"Everyone buckled?"

"I am, thanks to JJ."

I smirk over at Harry, "All I did was guide your hand to the buckle. You clasped it."

"Still, you helped." His grin fades into a serious expression. "Are you buckled?"

"Yeah, but it's more difficult than the last time. I guess it's because I'm getting so huge."

"You have to remember that it's not you, peanut. It's my grandbabies who are growing inside your belly. They need the extra space."

I cordially smile at my dad in the reflection of the rear view mirror and I mouth a thank you. He's always defended and protected me on every issue especially my weight all throughout my life. His support means the world to me and it makes me grateful that my boys will have a wonderful man besides their father to look up to when they grow up.

As my dad drives out of the hospital exit and onto the street, I exhale a calming breath, more than ready to put emotional experience behind me. Staying in the hospital is rough enough for one night let alone four and it's something I'm determined to not let that happen again, except for when I go into labor.

Since Harry's gently caressing my right hand in his, I place my left hand protectively over my belly and my head lolls back to the head rest. My eyelids suddenly feel like cement blocks and I can't keep them open anymore. As I close my eyes, I feel my body sink more into the seat and it feels like everyone is very far away from me right now.

The sun's auburn rays casts a serene hue over the park and as Harry pushes the double pram, I look up at him and smile. I knew his suggestion of going for a leisurely family walk would be nice, but this is pure perfection. A warm breeze out of nowhere blows my hair in front of my face and I try to shake it away.

"Babe, can you help me, please?"

"Yeah, yeah, sure, baby. One sec," Harry attentively says, stopping us from walking on the pathway and I feel his fingers gently brush my hair out of my face. I open my eyes to his and his worried expression eases as he watches my reaction. "Better?"

"Mhm. Much. Thank you. It's a lovely day to have a walkie in the park, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is and it's quite possibly the reason why I suggested it."

I playfully scoff, "Ha, oh is that so, Mr. Styles?"

"Yes, it is, Mrs. Styles. Care to sit for a while?"

"God, yes, my feet are so achy."

"Aw, I'm sorry, love. I promise I'll give them a nice massage when we get home. In the meantime, how about we rest on that lovely little bench under that tree over there?"

I glance to where he's pointing and smile, "Good choice, love. Let's get over there before someone else takes it."

Harry smirks, creating one dimple in his left cheek that sends my heart racing and we start walking again. The faint laughter from the children playing on the playground equipment and the melodic sounds of the city of London make for the perfect background noise for our family time together.

"Alright, here we go. Wait a second, there's some dirt on the seat. Lemme get that for you," Harry says, brushing it off onto the ground. "At least I hope it's dirt."

"Ha! Me, too."

While I take a seat, Harry positions the pram facing us and steps on the brakes to secure it before sitting next to me. "There we go- oh would you look at that, love."

"What?"

"The twins are asleep. They've been sleeping during our family walkie."

"They're probably exhausted from getting up six times last night having to feed themselves and change their own nappies. Oh wait, that was us. So technically, they should be pushing us in the pram."

Harry grins at my exaggeration, wrapping his arm behind my shoulders. "So when are we going to have another?"

"Another what? Because I know you didn't mean another baby."

"Of course I meant a baby."

I gasp in shock, sitting up to face him, "The twins aren't even six months old and you want to have another baby?"

"Yeah. In fact, they were just saying the other day that they wanted a little brother or sister."

"Oh? They're talking now?"

"Mhm and in complete sentences," Harry smirks, rubbing my shoulder as if coaxing me to relax within his embrace again. I roll my eyes into a smile and cuddle with him. "I want to have as many babies with you as possible, JJ. We make beautiful babies. It'd be a shame to stop. Don't you think?"

I fit my eyes to his green eyes, "I'll make you a deal; let's celebrate the twins' one year birthday and then we can talk about another baby. Perhaps then I can give you the little girl you've always wanted."

His eyes become glossy and he takes my hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to kiss. "I wouldn't change a thing about our life. I hope you know that. I love our boys and I love you."

"I wouldn't change anything either. I love you, Harry."

Keeping eye contact with me, Harry turns to face me and he cups my cheeks. As we get closer, I close my eyes in anticipation and I feel his lips on mine. A tiny cry interrupts us and our lips curl into a smile as we lean back.

"Impeccable timing from twin number one as always," Harry jokingly says, reaching over the pram and he picks up our fussy son to hold in his arms. "There, there. Tell Daddy what's wrong. What was that? Oh, you're hungry? Uh-oh, I think we should tell Mummy. What's that? You want me to tell her? Okay, I can do that for you, son. Mummy, he's hungry."

"He is? Well it's a good thing Mummy thought ahead and prepared a bottle for you and your brother, hm?" I knowingly ask. "Do you want to feed him?"

"Yeah, of course I do."

My baby boy's earnest cries make me search more feverishly for the bottle in the nappy bag. It's a seemingly endless bag stuffed with almost every item I can think of except for the damn bottles themselves. I start to become frantic and my heart starts racing because I can't find the blasted bottle when my baby is hungry.

"Where are they? They're not in here! I know I put them in here. Did you take them out?"

"Of course I didn't, love. Want me to look for them?"

"There's no need. I know I put them in here and they're just gone. Dammit!"

I inhale sharply and my eyes shoot open to the roof of the car. As I look around at my dad who's driving, the back of Anne's head and Harry sitting beside me, I realize it was just a dream and Harry squeezes my hand.

"Are you okay, love?" Harry asks and I look over at him and he takes his sunnies off, revealing his milky, wandering green eyes. I remember that he could see in my dream and it hurts that much more. "JJ, are you okay?"

"Uh, yeah, I'm fine. I just nodded off is all."

"I remember being pregnant with Harry. I was so exhausted that all I wanted to do was sleep during all three trimesters. Little did I know it was a preview of what life would be like with a tot like him."

"So Harry kept you on your toes, hm?"

"Yes, non-stop. The saying goes that the child you were is the kind of child you'll have so just be prepared for adventurous spirits."

"Good God, I'm tired already."

Anne laughs at my joke, "You can have a nice nap after brunch. You'll feel much better with a little food in your belly and some rest."

"Yeah, a nap in a real bed sounds divine right now. That hospital bed was nothing to write home about. I hope that's my last time in one until the delivery."

"We've got our fingers crossed, love. So when is your next appointment?" Anne asks.

"The day after tomorrow," Harry eagerly replies. "I've already called Doris to ask for the morning off. She said to call her if we need anything."

"That's nice of her. I don't think we'll need to ask her for anything more, but it's nice to know she's an option."

"Don't forget that people love to help others, which is why I'm looking forward to taking you to your next appointment."

Anne's kindness makes me emotional and my vision becomes blurry, "I don't know what we'd do without you both." I wipe away my tears and blow out a breath. "Thankfully it'll be at the clinic, not the hospital."

"Ah the pregnancy emotional roller coaster. I had a season pass for that ride."

"Apparently I do, too."

She smiles before turning to face forward in her seat and I look out my window at the trees and cars we're passing and I recognize the street we're on. It couldn't come any sooner since I need to wee and I decide to take my mind off of needing the toilet.

"I had a dream about the twins."

"Again? What was it about this time? What happened? Tell me everything, love." Harry's enthusiasm makes me smile and breaks my heart at the same time since it's like I've experienced having our twins before he could.

"Well, we went on a little walkie in the park with them."

"That's precious," Anne says, leaning back to look at me. "How old were they?"

"Uh, I don't remember. Just babies I guess since they were in a pram. The park was gorgeous though. Oh! And you wanted to have another baby."

Harry laughs, "Yeah, that sounds like me. Um, tell me, love; was I blind or able to see in your dream?"

I exhale a heavy breath, "You were your charming, lovable, kind self who I fell in love with and you were a very attentive dad."

He nods reluctantly and fits his sunnies back on and the car slows down to a stop.

"We're here," Dad says and I hurriedly fiddle around with the seatbelt buckle.

"Thank God. I really need to use the toilet. Sorry for the TMI, but I guess I won't have anymore secrets during this pregnancy."

"That's alright. Secrets don't get anyone anywhere," Dad says and I hum in agreement, opening the door. "Let me come around and help you out."

"I think I just need a push. Harry, could you- just a little shove."

"I'm not going to shove you, JJ, but I will help you."

His warm hand slides down to my lower back as I step one leg out the door. With my dad holding my hand and supporting under my arm, I hoist myself up to stand and I blow out a breath.

"Just a sec. My legs need to wake up first."

"Take all the time you need," Dad says, moving to stand next to me.

A strange bubbly sensation in my stomach catches me off guard and I place my hand on the side of my belly. "That's weird."

"What's weird?"

"I-I don't know. It's like my stomach burped but nothing came out. Sorry to be so graphic."

"It's alright, peanut. You seem to forget that I've been through the pregnancy with your mum. I've seen the good, the bad and the not so pretty moments of pregnancy. You were definitely an active pregnancy."

"I guess this is payback. I wonder if it's too late to apologize then it won't be so bad."

Dad laughs, "Wouldn't hurt to try, I guess. How are your legs? Awake enough yet?"

"Yeah. I'm good now. Let's go."***
