-Mavis' POV-
"Ah, Makarov! Your back! Did you deliver the letters I asked you to?" As always, I was standing in the altar of the tower, yet something about it seemed different than usual. "Yes, Miss Vermillion. I also ga-" "I've told you many times already, just call me Mavis! It's not like anyone can hear you." Makarov gave me a short nod. I looked off into the distance. "Anyways, start preparing the boat for them, if you would." I didn't even have to turn around to know that he was doing one of his final duties. I turned to look at the ritual ground, the nine candles and the goblet in the center. "I still can't help but feel bad for them." I said aloud, although I was aware that my tired helper was long gone. "They are now going to go through the same trials me and my friends had to face, exactly one century ago."

-Esmeralda's POV-

After about five minutes of ranting to Chaos, I noticed he wasn't paying attention. "Hey, what is it? Are you not excited?" I followed his gaze to where Sky and Freed were talking, both of them seemed very happy. "Oh, that's right. Now that.... we know what we know...... you'll never get the chance to tell her, will you?" The moment I said those words, he gave me a glare as if to say "would it matter if this WASNT happening?" I couldn't help but respond with an eye roll. "These are your final moments to say how you feel! Even if you get rejected, you will probably feel a lot better if you actually say something!" My depressed brother turned back to look at Sky. "Yeah, I guess your right." "Just remember that I am here for you as an ever dependable older sister!" I said with a wink, this getting my previous eye roll returned. And with that, he went to ask Connor something.

I know that things won't end well, but that doesn't mean my brother can't let a girl know that he loves her.

-Engel's POV-
"I'm so excited! Are you excited! We are going to see the Tower of AI!" Rue exclaimed, trying to keep the mood high. "We know, Rue. You have asked us at least five times, and have all made it perfectly clear that yes, we are excited." Chrysantha said. "She does have a point. You are dragging it on a lot." I said. "Ah, shaddep. Just because your older doesn't mean you have to boss me around! I can do what I want." Rue said, pulling her usual excuse. "Speaking of doing what people want..." Connor started. "... I am getting back at you for drawing on my face like that." "What?!" She retorted, sounding dramatic. "You have no proof I did." "But I know it was you." "Do not." "Do too." I couldn't help but start laughing. I love my little sister so much.

-Sky's POV-
Everyone seemed so happy, and that made me happy as well. But I'm more overwhelmed than anything. I mean, it's not every day your just randomly picked to be the next savior of the world! Of course, since it was such a famous landmark, the letter didn't bother to say where we were heading to go to this tower. "The Dock of New Beginnings." Connor said. "A boat should be here any minute to take us across." As if in cue, a fairly large boat came over, and judging by the fact that nobody was driving it and there were no paddles or anything, it was magically bound to go back and forth. "Okay, this is cool..." Kaori said. "It's almost as if it knew there were ten of us!" Chrysantha said, excitedly. As we all stepped in, I took a glimpse of what was around me. Chrysantha was jotting down some new poem in her pocketbook, and the Yin Yang twins were talking amongst each other. Although it seemed like Chaos' mind was somewhere else entirely...

When we arrived, the tower was much wider than any of us expected, but we all knew that it had to be really tall. We were supposed to ascend each floor, grabbing each blessing, one by one. The one that was on the first floor is called "The Blossoming Wave of the Sea". As we approached the hall which leads to the door, there was a large gap in between where we were standing and the door. And that gap was filled with water. The first one to talk was Esmeralda. "Um.... this is TOTALLY normal for something like the Tower of AI....... right?"

"So.... does anyone here not know how to swim?" Kaori asked. Engel seemed completely focused on the water. "I'm an okay swimmer.... just not great?" Connor said, earning an annoyed eye roll from Rue. "My poems will all get wet!" Chrysantha said in panic. "Actually, that's not the case." Engel started to put her foot in the water, but it moved out of the way, as if creating a barrier of air for her. "I think we can simply just walk through." A couple of people seemed happy with this, but I could tell Esmeralda thought it was really anticlimactic. It felt strange stepping in. Similar to an aquarium.

That was when Chrysantha screamed. And I realized what was going on. Surrounding us were these ghastly paranás, and they did NOT look friendly. Three of them. "... Really should have known it wouldn't be this pathetic." Esmeralda said, before they all charged straight for the center, us dodging frantically. "I DON'T WANNA DIE!" Rue screamed, Engel following her closely. Esmeralda and Chaos were trying to use the fact that they had eachother as an advantage. I was doing a really good job, until two of the paranás surrounded me. "LOOK OUT!!!" Freed screamed, shoving me out of the way. The two fish slammed into one another, expecting food. A few minutes after, we managed to escape to the other side. "Are you alright?" Freed asked me. "Am I okay? How about are YOU okay? You saved me!" Freed gave me a kind smile and a kiss on the cheek, but for a moment, I could have sworn there was regret in his eyes. A firm layer of stone slid over the paraná lake, as if knowing the test was completed. "Anyways, get the Blossoming Wave of the Sea. You deserve it after that." Chaos said.

I smiled, allowed the door to open, but before I could take the first blessing, another hand reached out. A hand I knew far too well.

"F-Freed? Hey, what are you doing?!"
