Helloooooo <3
Hayden's POV:
We sit at the table eating our food awkwardly. I push at the food on my plate, suddenly not feeling hungry. I take a small sip of water and look at my mom, "How has work been?"
She looks surprised, "It's been okay. Now Hayden what is that on your lips?"
"Red lipstick."
"You look like a whore. Please tell me you don't go out like that."
I grunt, "Mother."
She shrugs and goes back to her salmon. I look over at Evan and see him smile at me slyly. Looking away, I turn back to my mom. "I have a question."
"Yes?"
"Why didn't you seem as devastated as anyone else did when father died?" The question slips from my lips too fast for me to stop them.
Mother stops eating suddenly and looks up to meet my eye, "Excuse me?"
"I just remember not seeing you cry even once when I was small."
"I didn't want my children to see their mother so upset."
"Okay, but you moved on rather quickly." I raise an eyebrow.
"Yes, I did. Eric was here for me when your father passed."
"Okay, just asking."
As I go back to my food, I look up out of the corner of my eye to see my mom and Eric exchange looks. Looking over at Evan, he raises an eyebrow and I decide then and now he has the right to know.
After dinner, I tell and show Evan everything. "You really believe she did it?"
"I heard her admit it, Evan." I reassure.
We quiet down instantly when we hear small talk outside my door. Evan and I sneak over to the door, and press our ears against it.
"I told you, Martha. I am not being paranoid."
"Okay, okay. You're right. But how could she know? I got rid of all the evidence." She murmurs.
"What if she decides to go to the police with this?" Eric asks.
"She won't, she has no proof."
"Maybe, but if she even gave the police the idea they would start up another investigation."
"We'll just have to try and make sure she doesn't do so."

Now Evan knows! I'm so happy that I decided to write this book, guys.
