Chapter Twenty- Still Growing
Sydney's POV
It was crazy how fast time had flown. Jessie was close to turning three, and Joey and I had been married for a little over a year. Now, the Anthem Lights guys were getting ready to release our first original album. For King And Country just finished a Christmas tour, so we had a break. Joey was in the kitchen, putting dishes away, and I sat on the counter, directing him. I had a certain way I wanted them put away, so he gladly obliged. I took a deep breath, and spoke up.
"Joey, what would you say if I were pregnant? Would.....would you be okay with that?" He turned to me, setting the dishes down and coming over to me, placing his hands on my waist.
"Baby, that would be amazing." I laughed slightly, a smile spreading across my face.
"I was asking that because I.....I'm pregnant. I just found out." I handed him the small test, and his jaw dropped slightly. He looked up at me, grinning. He opened his mouth to say something, but no words would come out.
"Joey, I'm pregnant, baby. You're going to be a dad again." He set the test down, and moved to right in front of me, gently laying his hands on my waist.
"I'm....you're.....we're going to be parents again. Oh, baby. This....I can't believe it. Jessie's going to be a big sister." Our lips connected in a soft kiss, and after we pulled back, I nodded.
"I know, love. Maybe it'll be a girl, and she'll be a daddy's girl again. Or, it'll be a boy, and he'll grow up to be the same kind of man you are." I saw the tears filling his eyes, and he hugged me, one hand moving to my stomach.
"Oh, baby. I can't believe this. I'm in love already. I'm so blessed." I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling. We were going to be parents together this time. I didn't have to repeat what happened with Jessie again. I didn't have to raise this little one without a daddy at home.
Joey's POV
We decided to wait a few weeks to reveal the pregnancy, so that we could find out gender before we told everyone. So, a few weeks later, everyone was gathering at our house for announcement. Sydney sat on the couch with Jessie beside her, and Jessie kept putting her hand on Sydney's small bump, saying 'Baby.'
"Mama....baby!"
"Yes, sweet girl. Mama's having a baby." Then, Jessie giggled.
"Mama baby!! Hi baby!!" Then, she took her hand off, and gently leaned over, kissing her stomach.
"Baby kiss." She cooed, smiling. Then, the doorbell rang, and Jessie hopped down, running for the door.
"I do!! I do!!" She crowed, but then started struggling to turn the knob. She turned around, and plopped on the floor.
"Daddy help?" She asked, looking up at me. I laughed, going over and scooping her up. I opened the door to reveal Joel, Moriah, James, and Antonia.
"JJ!! Nia!!" Jessie shrieked, and she started bouncing and waving her arms and legs, still squealing. Joel stared wide-eyed at his niece, almost laughing.
"Sorry, mate, but is it normal for your daughter to do that?" A throw pillow came flying at Joel, and we heard Sydney's voice.
"Don't you dare go calling my daughter weird, Joel David Smallbone!!" He laughed, and then leaned closer to me, whispering.
"Is she pregnant?" I blinked twice, and his eyes widened.
"She is? Oh. I was just joking. You were serious. You'd better not leave her, mate, or you're going to hear from me, and her four other brothers." I nodded, smiling slightly.
"I know. I wouldn't ever dream of leaving her. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me." About thirty minutes later, everyone had finally come. Sydney sat on the couch, munching on fries, and Jessica would occasionally steal one or two.
"Alright, I think we should go ahead and tell y'all why we asked you to come here. We are expecting Jeremiah James Stamper in about five months. Due date is May 14." There was a lot of cheers and excited talking as we passed around ultrasound pictures of our little boy, who would be coming soon. We had chocolate cake with blue icing, and talked more before everyone left. Jessie had fallen asleep, so she sat on the couch, content to be snoring quietly. I sat on the couch beside her, Sydney leaning up against me, and I smiled. I couldn't believe how blessed I was.
