43. Messing up.
"Also, did you contact Agarwal for the raw material? If we get late in the order, he'll start being pain in our arses at the time of delivery, again. I look at my sister and wife at Advik's words. The best friend's look at each other and then back at us. "We did." Huh? What was that look? I keep eyes on my wife, my forehead creases in confusion at her not meeting my eyes.
"Okay then. Make sure to stay in touch with him, he needs constant reminders to complete the order on time." My best friend then turns to me. "We gotta do something about him, he's taking us too lightly. Last time we barely made the collection on time, all because of him."
"We'll discuss this with him when he comes to get the payment. Or we can do the same when it's time for payment, make him hang in there till the end." My best friend and I share a laugh. Joey and team takes this as their cue to leaving. But what surprises me is Suhana & Ahaana practically making a run for the door.
"Ye dono ne kuch kia!" Advik states moving his chair around and watching them flee towards the elevator. "Wo bhi kuch bada." I add.
"Call Falak, she knows for sure." I nod at his phone. "You really think she will tell us shit? Does Ahaana tell you things about Falak and Suhana? Nahi na? Falak's lips are stitched, when it comes to these two. I'm jealous with how loyal she is to Ahaana and Suhana." My best friend huffs out in exhaustion and pettiness. I leave him to his pain.
I have ways to make my wife turn parrot in my hand. Whatever they did or are planning on doing will be out tonight when I have my wife in bed with me. I smirk to myself looking at Advik. Falak might not tell him shit, but I got husband privileges, Shea will tell me whatever I want to know and some more things.
Itna overconfidence apni bratty Shea pe? Tch. Tch. Tch.
This subconscious mind of mine needs to shut up, I got belief on my Shea and he's trying to tch tch that belief.
I have been married to my woman for over a month now. Thirty-three days to be exact. And I have had the front row seat at watching my wife not only be a wife but also the mother to Coco and Oreo, the woman of the house.
It's all those little things that take my breath away. Watching her make grocery list. Take staff meeting, know what's happening in the house and kitchen, keeping a track of all the expenses and not leave everything on the staff. From bathing Coco and Oreo at home or at bathing centres and take them to Veterinarian--I haven't ever done any of this, either Hood or Falak or Zia handled all these. Being strict about their treats and pup cups-- the pets are pissed over that one.
Making sure we are having dinners with our families and then one with our friends every week, here at our home where she manages everything. She doesn't leave the meals to the staff, before we head to our bedroom every night, she jots down what she needs for all our meals the next day-- which are highly beneficial for migraine. When Hood's driving us to work, she sits in the passenger seat --beside the fucker while I sit in the back seat because I'm princess-- and hand feeds me soaked nuts. She hand feeds me meals when we are alone at our home. She babies me so much I think I'm the spoiled one now!
Have you ever been so in love that watching your wife wash her intimate clothes makes you feel... blissful? In my eyes, that is the heights of domesticity, because even though we practically lived together since forever, I have never seen her doing that-- not even during our honeymoon because I kind of gave her space when she was in the bathroom, that wall was completely broken when we had that love scene in the shower.
But what I love the most about us being married is her being her goofy self around me. She knows I keep my surroundings clean --my mother made sure no woman, or the daughter of her best friend doesn't have to pick after me, so she put this in me as a habit back in childhood-- my wife is a clean person as well, but when I'm around I do the cleaning. After our shared shower every night, I pick up the wet bathrobe or towel after her, her work clothes that she leaves on the vanity chair, pick out our work wear while she orders me around from her vanity throne. When she had her periods this time, she didn't push me away, instead she reached out to me. From asking for massages, foot rubs to preparing noodles and hot water bags. Even Coco and Oreo plopped down on her back to help with her backache.
I sometimes think the word brat and spoiled doesn't define her anymore but then she had a day out with Falak and Suhana, when she was on periods, and I was contacted by the bank because of the amount she spent in one day. She returned back home with tons of shopping bags and then spent three hours in our closet with Zia and Falak --obviously-- unboxing everything and screeching in delight holding her 'firsts'. It was a moment for me watching her scream in joy at something I bought for her, directly or indirectly. She forgot all about her cramps and continued gazing at her stuff with heart eyes while I gazed at her with heart eyes.
"Sahil!" The loud sound of clap beside my ear snaps me out of Shea land, my heart beats loudly in my chest at the sudden shock. "The fuck Mehrotra?" I narrow eyes at my best friend. "I know my sister is someone to think about every second of the day since she's The Advik Mehrotra's sister but need your attention here, jerk."
"The Advik Mehrotra?" I snort at the name. "Jeeja hoon main tera, hadd mein raha kar. Shika Maa ko bolu you calling me jerk?" I say wiggling my eyebrows teasingly. "Tu Shika Maa ke pati ko bhi bol de chahe." He retorts back stealing my fun. I'll cry over not being someone's jeejs in the bathroom or my wife's arms later.
Wife se yaad aaya, wife kaand kar rakhi hai koi! Focus, Sahdev. Focus.
"Go make Chinu spew whatever she did." Advik says making a disgusted face. "I'll leave the building while you do that and also call Yug so he can do the same." He adds making my face turn fifty shades of disgust.
"Don't fucking give me images, arsehole. I'll make Shea confess, no need to call him. He's not going to do anything other than hover around both of them, fuckers gonna steal my shea." I say pushing the chair back and standing up. His phone rings and our eyes turn to it. Dad. I smirk leaving him to it. Our parents came back a week ago and are now busy packing for London.
"Yes, Dad." He answers, listening to the other side. I cross the meeting room and head to the door, his next words stopping my movements. "Both of them are on their floor. What's wrong?" Advik turns his chair, coming face to face with me, I walk closer, and he puts the phone on speaker. Rudra Uncle's voice fills the room.
"I was out with Shika and Avni, and ran into Agrawal, he was being really snarky and rude. When I questioned about what's wrong, he said my daughters have ruined the decades and decades long relationship by not only not giving his company the order but also going to his rival. I made some calls and confirmed, Suhana and Ahaana went to Bakshi's. Did you two have any idea about this?" My jaw clenches in anger at the revelation. "No." I grit out.
"Samyak and I are on our way to Mehr. You two don't say anything. We'll talk to them." The call disconnects.
"They all won't say a word to them, if we did something like this, we'd be hung by our fucking balls by now." I say, my nostril flare in anger. Advik nods agreeing with me. I throw myself on the chair beside him. Not even a minute and my father rushes in the meeting room with his phone pressed to ears.
"Yes, I'm here. No the girls ain't here. Drive slow, will you? You are going to scare Shika and Avni." Samyak Sahdev heads to the boss-chair and makes himself comfortable, in all his bossy glory— a sight we haven't witnessed in over two years, until now. The girls truly did fuck up well and good! His phone on speaker now as he nods at us to take a seat. Yeah, order us around in our own office, why don't you?
"It's a little late for them to get scared and leave us." Rudra Uncle chuckles, a smile spreads on my father's face.
"Samyak! If you scare my girls na, I will never speak to you and will divorce you!" My mother yells from behind Rudra Uncle.
"I'm here ahead of you all, so your boys don't scare the girls. Or ek aap hai jo mujhe hi dhamka rahi hai? Ye toh galat baat hai biwiji." So yes, I always loved how Dad addressed Mumma as biwiji, child Sahil always wanted to do the same with his wife and adult Sahil did it. Sue me!
"We're here." Rudra Uncle announces, disconnecting the call. Advik and I share a look and pick up our phones. They are here to make sure we don't say anything to their girls? Well, we won't. We'll just watch them do it themselves. Minutes later, the mothers walks in followed by Rudra Mehrotra. He pulls out chairs for the both of them and the women settles down before Rudra Uncle walks to the other head chair beside my father—hey, that's my chair!
"Did you call them up yet?" Uncle questions my father, who shakes his head in no.
"You two didn't know anything about this?" My father looks at Advik and I. Advik denies leaning back in his chair. "We were just having a meeting with them and Joey's team, the moment we questioned about if they placed the order or not, they shared a look. Sahil was just going to Ahaana to talk her out of whatever they were hiding but you called." Advik gives them a quick rundown.
"I can't believe they did something like this without checking up with any of us." Rudra Uncle moves fingers in his hairs. Shika Maa is in front of me, so I see her looki—ogling her husband. Disgusting much, Mummaji? Someone give me bleach. My wife is rubbing on me! I turn my chair sideways making sure my eyes only stay on our fathers.
Rudra Uncle picks up the landline and punches in the designer floor's number. "Ask Ahaana and Suhana to come up to the meeting room." He puts the phone down and we all turn our eyes towards the corridor, waiting for them to step out of the elevator.
The elevator dings but no one steps out. It's about to close when a hand stops it, Suhana steps out first, tugging on my wife's hand. Hood with them. My wife's head snaps to me from the glass, I feel all the eyes in the meeting room turn to me as well, making me avert my gaze from her. My father looks at me and gives me a head shake.
"You don't say a word to her, Sahil. We'll handle it. She should know that she needs to come to you the second she messes up and not hide it from you, okay?" My father stops speaking the second the door is shoved open by Hood. The elevator dings again and this time Falak walks out of it followed by Yug, my forehead creases in confusion.
"I called Falak and Yug." Rudra Uncle mumbles before saying a little louder. "Come inside, Ahaana-Suhana."
"Hood. Get in depth of this." Hood leaves giving a curt nod to my father, leaving just us—the family alone. Yug takes the empty seat next to me, his face creased in confusion. The girls settle down on the other side of the oval table, just the three of them, closet to the door. "Falak, you know why I called you here?" Rudra Uncle starts the grilling session from my favourite person to grill. What is this behaviour, Uncle? Start with the satan you birthed; I'll deal with Falak.
"Ji Papa." Falak looks down in her lap, biting on her lower lip. "Yug, did Suhana tell you anything?" Rudra Uncle looks at Yug, leaving Falak in her guilt moment.
"Regarding what, Uncle?" Yug asks.
"Regarding fucking up?" I cut in giving a too sweet to be true smile to my sister and wife. I know everyone asked me to stay the fuck back, but they fucked up. Big time! My father cuts me a glare.
"Suhana-Ahaana placed order with someone else for the upcoming launch. Agarwal's sulky." Advik puts his elbows on the table, his eyes on the girls. Yeah, Falak's in trouble!
"Kittu!" Yug snaps so hard at Suhana, she—all three of them jumps in their seats. Suhana's scared of only one person on this earth-- Yug. He worships the ground that she walks on --just like Advik & I-- but just like our women's, Suhana can be controlled only by Yug. He's not really the clown that he's pretends to be, my sister can vouch for that. Yikes!
"I told you not to do that." Yug adds, his tone annoyed.
"You knew about this, Yug bacha?" My mother asks in a much sweeter voice. "She complained about how Agarwal is late to delivering, so bragging of having the best materials and how he makes the entire process go at his pace, Mom. She wanted to change the supplier for a while now but they denied, I guess, and they even had a spat." Yug gestures at Advik and me. We did. It was before the last collection launch, before Shea returned but like he said, Agarwal provides the best of materials and his prices works greats for us.
"When Advik and Sahil didn't listen to her, she wanted me to talk to them but I told her no because I knew where they were coming from. She was only thinking of being able to launch on time, but it's just so much more than that, obviously." Yug summarises the whole thing. His gaze still locked on my sister's face who has not a single ounce of regret on her face. That's Sahdev genes right there.
"You even coaxed lil' Shea into all this, Kittu? Yug's voice is soft and defeated. "Maine mana kia tha na tujhe last time?"
"Yug, they don't have to deal with him or the pressure of being on time! They sit here being the bosses, sign some paperwork and it's us where all the pressure falls." Zia gestures between her and Shea. "No one has to deal with anything, Dadda, other than us. We need to answer the Masterji at Mehr works, we need to answer the teams. Joey. When you both worked here, you were the bosses and had other people at our place who never complained about how much of a pain Agarwal is, but Dad it's us now. Your daughters. We have to give answers to others because everyone thinks if they talk about the problem with us, it means they are talking with the real bosses but that's not the case here, is it? Everyone thinks just because Ahaana and I are Mehrotra and Sahdev, we run the show but we don't. The bosses will always be these two and we'll always have to go by what they want us to." My eyes narrows with each of my sister's word. She's asking for mean Sahil now. I glance at our father to see them offended. Good.
"Suhana. Are you trying to imply that Advik and Sahil don't listen to you?" My father's questions has me scoffing. "They don't Papa. I have been begging to them about changing our supplier for a year now but they always ignore it." Suhana replies. I feel a twitch in my jaw with the way my molars are grinding with each passing second.
"She came to us one time, Samyak Paa. One fucking time before the last launch but after she already placed order with him. We told her we'll have a proper talk with him this time around. She didn't even give us time to handle it." Advik glares at Suhana before facing my father. I ignore them all and focus my gaze on my wife who has been silent during this whole ordeal, looking very lost. She's upset about something? Something which is not remotely close to this scene we currently are in?
"Fine, I agree I only came to them once. But Bakshi's doing great. He's already delivered the first slot of supplies. We made no wrong decision, you can stop this intervention session." Suhana crosses her arms on chest, her lips pursed together, telling she's done with this conversation.
"Bakshi? You went to Bakshi?" Yug's face morphs from disappointment to anger. Yeah, that's the bestfriend I was waiting for. "Who went to check the samples?" Yug pins both Shea and Zia with a glare.
My wife clears her throat and pushes herself closer to the table. "We both did." Shea says, her tone and expression back to herself. She's pulled herself out of her head.
"You went with Hood, right?" Advik questions, I'm already shooting a message to Hood to come up. I'll murder him if he knew about this and let my girls go alone to that arsehole. "Hood was busy with Sahil so I drove." Suhana answers and I look back at the girls. If we didn't have our parents with us right now, I'll set these two idiots straight. They have lost their fucking minds.
"Dadda. I'm seriously done with this conversation. We did nothing wrong. Stop fucking treating us like your employees. I swear we will resign." My wife slaps the table and roars--to be read as mewls-- like the little thing she is. My blood pressure instantly shoots up. Why are we taking this stupid attitude? Oh because our parents are here.
"Then resign. Better yet I will fire you. You went against the company rules and not only hid something so big from us but also put your own safety at risk. You know why everyone's so enraged over you going to Bakshi's? Because he's a fucking predator. Ever looked into his reputation? Not only he's fucked in the head, he's also a cheat when it comes to business. So congratulations, you didn't just put this company's image, work and next year's future at stake but also your own safety." I turn to the elders. "Where's their Oscar for trying to turn this whole thing into feminist bullshit?"
My mother pushes her chair back and storms to me. Fisting my shirts at the chest, she starts tugging me out of the room. My wife's in the way to the door, her eyes locks with me, she parts her lips to say something. "Tum milo aaj akele mein mujhe." I glare at all three of them. My wife's lips curls into pout.
"See! See! He's trying to scare us." Suhana screams pointing her index finger at me. I made a mental note to make my sister's voodoo doll and stab it in the thighs, while I'm at it I'll make one of Falak as well just for the fun. "I pity you man." My last words are to Yug before the door slams shut behind my mother and I. Mumma twists my ear when we are in the corridor, I hiss in pain. My eyes flicking to the meeting room to see my wife hissing, her eyes close. She always hated it when Mumma did this.
"Samyak said no he'll handle." Mumma grits out. "Your husband can't handle shit when it comes to your daughter and DIL. His voice goes to cooing when he's talking-- I mean scolding them. He prays to Waheguruji louder than he speaks to them." I rub my bleeding ear. The elevator dings behind us. We both turn to look at Hood, he gestures to follow him in the meeting room. I deal with his attitude for a reason, he can get information from the pit of hell and from the sky. In fluffing seconds.
Fluffing? Really?
"Suhana and Bhabhi didn't just go to Bakshi's for this year but they also signed a contract." I was taking this whole thing a little lightly because I knew Advik and I will come up with something and get Bakshi off our backs. My blood wasn't boiling, until now. A contract. A fucking contract and I know both of them enough to know they didn't read that shit.
"For three years." Hood completes, his fingers quickly moving on the keyboard. I glance at Suhana and Ahaana, and now, now I see that guilty expression on their faces.
"We'll talk about all that later for now you might want to see this." Hood meets my eyes and turns the laptop screen towards me. "I was rummaging through the cameras to check if Bakshi ever came here or they had any conversations related to this here at work but found this instead." He hits the play button.
It's the designer room. A room where magic happens, Ahaana and Suhana creates magic in that room with their team. The video starts off with Joey, Ahaana and Suhana talking about a fabric and embroidery patters. Joey leaves first. Then Ahaana and Suhana speak in hushed whispers, low enough to be not caught by the cameras. Suhana's phone lights up on the table and she leaves the room leaving Shea alone with three interns.
Ahaana turns back to her ipad. The girls are separating fabrics on the other table. "You know she got married." One of the girls says looking over her shoulder gesturing at Shea. My wife's hands stops moving, hearing whatever the girls said but she doesn't look up from her iPad.
Hood switches the camera, the one directly over the girls head starts working and their voices are clear in this one. "Robin!" My wife jumps out of her chair. Suhana and Falak holds her back, wanting to find out what this is all about.
"I'll have you fired!" My wife seethes at Hood. "I can't believe you're letting these teenagers bully you. Please get me fired so I don't have to see this ever again." Hood retorts back. "Chinu. Sit down!" Rudra Uncle's voice is clipped and deep. Finally he spoke!
"You're not only invading my privacy but also theirs. This is so, so bad!" Shea meets my eyes from over Zia's head. "Please tu toh privacy ki baat kar hi mat." Advik shoves her back in the chair, her elbow hits the armrest. "Advik!" Before I can, Zia swats at his chest for being so rough with her. My wife humphs keeping her head down on the table and hiding her face.
I'll handle her later.
Hood hits the play button. "Child marriage? She's what? Fifteen?" The second girls snorts looking my wife up and down.
"You know who she got married to? Do you know who she is?" The third one glares at the other two. "She's Mehrotra. Advik Sir's little sister and she's married into Sahdev Family. Sahil Sir's childhood sweetheart. They got married last month." The girl informs the other two.
"Sahil? That hot hunk got married to... this? Poor guy." The first girl tches and shares a laugh with the second one. My heart thumps in my chest, but body shakes in anger. Yug's hand comes on my back. As if he's stopping me from sprinting out of here.
"Please stop it, Gauri. The man is obsessed with her. Have you seen the way he looks at her? Treats her? We have been working here for more than six months and he never stopped foot on this floor ever. But he makes sure to be here atleast once a day since she came. And especially after their marriage. They are so freaking cute together!" The third girl looks at my wife in awe. Shea still keeps her head on the iPad screen but the subtle lip biting doesn't go unnoticed by me.
"I caught them here in this room two days back. He started blushing when I came in. That man who we have never ever seen smiling, can yoi believe it? She was probably in his lap and I didn't know they were in here so I slammed the door open, the man turned red while she laughed like an evil and he flipped her the bird. They give off such 'married to my bestfriend' vibes." This third girl is getting a job offer and the other two are leaving Mehr for good. I don't look up but I feel all the eyes on my face. Well nothing new there, they already know I'm mad for this woman, don't they?
"You sound like you're a fangirl." Second girl rolls eyes. "But just think, he seems like a rough man. How does she handle him? He probably can't even do missionary with her because of her body being only bones. I mean what does he even hold onto when he fucks—" My eyes are only on my wife in the video, I only see one thing. Tear trailing down her eye and she quickly brushes it away but the second one follows. The laptop is slammed shut. I look at the hand that closed the laptop. Falak.
I don't look at anyone else other than meet my sister gaze. She gives a gentle nod leaving the room with Advik. "Tu ghar jaa. We'll handle it here." Yug mumbles beside me. I look to where my wife sits with her head still down.
"I just need a second with her. I'm not going anywhere." Striding to where she sits, I wrap my fingers around her arms and tug her out of the chair. "Shai!" My wife screeches trying to get me off of her. "Stop." She thrashes taking her hand out of my hold.
"I'm not fluffing broken by their stupid words." My wife yells but stays close to me. "I did something." She murmurs, pouting up at me. "You do a lot of things, meri jaan. Which something are you talking about?" I mutter tucking the hair strands behind her ears.
"Remember how you made Joey mess with me when I started working here." My eyes snap to my father. Shit. I look back at my wife from my father's scowling face. I'll let him love me later. "I kind of did the same thing. I asked Joey to make both of their lives miserable."
"Joey must be so hardworking if he's doing two jobs on the salary of one." Rudra Uncle says from his seat and Shea grins at her father. "Dadda, she called my husband hot hunk. How dare she!?" Rudra Uncle shakes head at his daughter's words, a smile pulled to his lips.
"Don't let anyone walk all over you, Ahaa." My mother says from beside Shika Maa who has her eyes on her daughter, she can see what Shea's not showing. Feeling my gaze on her face, Shika Maa looks at me. I know Shika Maa, I know. I give her a assurance blink. I will make sure my wife's alright.
For now, I'll make sure they didn't get not only themselves but Mehr in trouble.
"Now. Bakshi's." Hood smiles at me. "They signed a contract with them. For three years. Without reading." That's the exact moment Suhana and Advik walks in. Suhana hears the last words and turns around to leave but Advik shoves her in locking the door behind them.
"Okay. Enough joking around. Sit the fuck down everyone!" My father's voice is not at all fatherly and coo-y. Huh? That's a first. He only uses this tone with Advik and I.
"Ahaana." No Ahaa. No kiddo. No bacha. My father's eyes are settled on my wife. She nods meeting his gaze. "Ji Papa." Shea replies.
"Tell us everything. Everything." Dad says soft enough to not scare the girls but also in a edgy tone to show he's not in the mood to joke.
"We called Agarwal's to send over samples. And also Bakshi's on the same day. We received the samples from Bakshi's the same evening and it's been nine days today, yet no response from Agarwal's."
"Because he found out you ordered from Bakshi's." I cut in, glancing at both Shea and Zia.
"Yeah, whatever. We did because we liked his samples also he said he'll give us whatever prices we say." Yeah, before or after molesting you two? I keep that to myself. How can these two be so smart yet so fucking stupid at the same time?
"Falak. You knew about this?" Dad turns to Falak. She nods, her eyes moving from Advik to my father. Advik keeps his gaze averted from her.
"They discussed this with me before placing the order." Falak says softly.
"And obviously how can the Mother Teresa here go against the bestie rules, right birdie?" Advik is pissed. At Falak. Aaj ki party meri taraf se waheguru. I'm finally getting my bestfriend back!
"Bhaiyu. Shut it will you?" Shea glares at her brother. Falak looks at the elders.
"I told them to not do it without asking Advik and Sahil." Falak's on edge of tearing up. She hates disappointing anyone but Advik especially. She can take anything but his indifference. I cover my lips, leaning on the left armrest closer towards my bestfriend.
"Stop it." I mutter low enough for only us. Advik gives me a look, ignoring my warning and going back to making sure to not look at his other side. Falak's pinky finger reaches for his on the table. He brings that same hand up to set his hairs and then keeping it away from Falak's reach. If the fucker makes his parcel cry, I'll kick his arse. Only I can make her cry!
"Did you really sign the contract without reading?" Rudra Uncle questions, his eyes moving between Shea and Zia. Zia looks down, nodding in positive. From the corner of my eyes I see Rudra Uncle going to say—yell but my father gives him a look gesturing at Shika Maa and Mumma. Pathetic whipped men! *Snorts*
"I'd like to speak to my kids alone." Rudra Uncle says looking at Shika Maa. She gets up rolling her eyes. "Just say you want to yell." My mother tsks, laughing. Both the mothers leaves the meeting room.
"Papa, Can I go, please?" Falak's voice is low and sad. Rudra Uncle looks at Advik, he gives a slight shake of head, I bite back on my smile. "How about you go take a moment to yourself? I'd like to speak with you after I'm done with these four." Falak exhales before agreeing and leaving the meeting room. My eyes snaps to Advik as he watches her enter his office.
"I have a meeting. Let me know if you guys need help with something." Yug speaks looking at Advik and I, when we nod he gets up to leave as well. Zia keeps looking at him, he huffs out a breath before leaning down and brushing his lips on her forehead. "You never listen to anyone, hai na?" He doesn't wait for her answer, leaving the room with Hood.
"Where's the copy of the contract you signed, Chinu? And help me god if you say you don't have one." Rudra Uncle glares at his daughter. The real shit starts now.
"I—We don't have one." Shea replies, I close my eyes, my fingers trying to rub away the thrum in my head.
"What the fuck is wrong with you two?" My father slaps the table, shoving his chair back and standing up. My eyes dart to my sister and wife.
"I can't believe my daughters could be this stupid." Rudra Uncle shakes head at the two.
"I-I got a call from Mehr works when I was downstairs. The samples Bakshi sent and the delivery we received from him today..." Suhana trails off, not completing her sentence.
"Yeah. What's wrong with the delivery, Zia? Go ahead, tell us." There's anger in my voice. With the way things are shaping, I know we're going to have a good fight today.
"What's wrong with the delivery, Suh?" Shea quietly asks her bestfriend.
Suhana looks at our fathers and then at Shea. "He cheated us, Ahaa. The material is not what we ordered." Brat's face pales. Yup, there's the expression I have been waiting for.
"That dastard!" My wife fumes in anger.
"You have not only ruined this years' launch but also Mehr's reputation. We have been working with Agarwals' since Mehr became a brand. This was not your decision to make!" Rudra uncle snaps at the girls. "Just pray that you didn't sign on something that can be trouble for not only you two but also Mehr. If we get in some legal shit na, I don't know about Advik and Sahil but I will fire you both." Rudra uncle warns pointing his finger at the two. The girls keeps their lips sealed. Advik continues rummaging through whatever papers Hood left behind for us.
"I don't have the copy of the contract but I have the contract. Would you like to see that?" I swear to god, I will slap the shit out of these idiots now. If they have the fucking papers, why are we making Hood find things for us? I'm going to need someone to hold me back before I end up throwing these two down the building.
"Ahaana!" Rudra Uncle groans out deeply, tilting his head back looking up at the ceiling-- praying to god, I'm sure. "Yes, Dadda." You know what? I'll let Rudra Uncle take this one.
"Where are the papers, kid?" My father keeps hand on Rudra uncle's chest.
"Why do you have the papers?" Suhana whisper asks
"Remember how your brother's almost a lawyer and all?" Suhana nods at Shea's words. "Yeah. So I don't know why, but since I got married to him... I kind of get scared of him because of those angry eyes he gives me all the time." Suhana nods asking her to continue.
"Remember the lawyer that was eyeing me up and down when we were there?" Suhana quickly glances at me before giving a slight nod. "I asked him to send me the contract because I wanted my lawyer to go through it once." My wife looks at me when she says 'my lawyer', I roll eyes at that but my heart does somersaults in my chest. "The fluffer seems to be in love with me because he did exactly that." Shea flips her hair back but remembers our fathers are still here so she puts on that sad pathetic meek look right back on.
"I will need to see the papers and the name of the bastard who's so in love with you, Mrs. Sahil." Advik snorts at my words beside me. I turn to our fathers. "Uncle--"
"Knock it off, Sahdev. If I hear you addressing me Uncle one more time, I'll make sure Chinu signs divorce papers by the end of the day." Rudra Uncle gives me his famous death stare. Where did this come from?
I glance at my father who's smiling right now. This is funny to him? "But I have been calling you uncle since the beginning."
"No. You started calling me Uncle since I started coming between you and her. Don't let the brat come in between us Sahil. You used to call me Papa/Dad just like Advik calls Samyak."
"Dadda. Stop calling me brat. I'm right here." Shea screams.
"Turn around, bacha." Rudra Un--Papa...? sweetly murmurs to his daughter, Shea turns around giving her back to her father.
"Since this brat came into your life, you decided that I'm the Hitler and you started addressing me as strangers." Both the father laughs when Shea turns around, her eyes narrowed at her father. "I don't love you very much right now, Mr. Rudra Papa Mehrotra." Shea looks away crossing her arms on chest. Her breasts pushes together and-- nope. I quickly avert my gaze.
"Because you my little one only love your lawyer now." Her father laughs, my wife's cheeks and ears turns pink but she keeps her lips sealed. I clear my throat bringing everyone's attention away from her to not make her shy. "Papa." I keep my eyes on her father so he knows I'm calling him Papa. "Advik and I will take care of this mess with Bakshi, but I'd like you both to get in touch with Agarwal and handle him."
Our father walks towards the door to leave when Suhana's voice stops them. "It was all me, Papa. It was my idea. I fucked up. Ahaana was just supporting me because... well you know she can't let me fuck up alone. Ride or die, you know. She wanted to tell Sahil from the beginning but she didn't want me to think that she was picking him over me and that's why she hid it from you all." Suhana keeps her eyes on both of them. Rudra Uncle --Its' a habit alright. I can't help it-- comes to her and cups her face.
"If she let you mess up alone. I'd have to punish her because she'd be breaking the Mehrotra-Sahdev generational thing by letting your bestfriend mess up alone." He kisses her head. "We're not angry at you for whatever happened--"
"Yes, we are." Advik and I cut him off together. Suhana flips us the bird keeping her eyes on Rudra Uncle.
"We're angry that you didn't come to us and we found out from stranger that our daughters messed up. When my kids screw up, they should come to me first since I'm the cooler one out of us two." Rudra Uncle spares my father a glance. "Shut it Mehrotra. We all know I'm the cooler one and you're the stricter one."
"You want me to speak to Yug?" Rudra Uncle murmurs softly. Everyone knows the real reason of her sadness. Suhana gives no shit about fucking up. She knows everyone has her back and we'll get out of it somehow. The reason to her sadness walked out on her today without ruffling her hairs. Yug never leaves without messing up her hairs. Yes we have a thing for our girls hairs! I tug on my Shea's hairs. Yug messes Zia's hairs and Advik being the absolute gone case, he sniffs Falak's hairs.
Suhana shakes her head in negative. Rudra Uncle kisses her head and then slaps Shea's head upside down before walking out of the room with his bestfriend heading straight to the elevator. I watch the two bestfriend get in the elevator and leave.
Did they just 'forget' our mothers here?
