The Mirrored Lake

a mirrored lake
sits between two hills
and in it shines the brightest blue
the sky reflected
great and vast
unmarred by sins of the past

this mirrored lake
where travelers seek
to restore what they've failed to see
and what more
do they fail to view?
only that wondrous sky
great and blue
full of promises, wishes too
and wisps of clouds
who drift, forgotten

for, these travelers,
they forget to look up
to see this sky
they so wish to behold
and so they will always fail
to see that brightest blue
without the aid
of the mirrored lake
