Basketball♥︎
To people who have a tendency to copy things we have written with hardwork and dedication. You can very well go to hell. I won't mind. :D
Eleanor
I gave Alan a disappointed look while I cleaned the wound on his face with a soft cotton ball. He would steal glances at me every now and then but he knew it would be better to stay silent instead of giving me petty explanations. I threw away the cotton ball once I was done and started walking away without uttering a word to Alan.
When he saw me waking away, he stopped running his hand through his cuts and decided to catch his pace with me. This is the last thing I wanted today, I didn't want him to come running after me with an explanation for the damage he has already caused.
"Look El, I know you don't want an explanation but you'll have to listen to my part of the story, yo--"
"Oh god. If you I don't want an explanation, why are you giving me one? I have nothing more to say, Alan. What you did today is unacceptable and I surely didn't expect you to do this!", I spat with very little warmth in my voice.
"He started it!", he said defensively.
"You didn't have to end it. You could've just walked away, but you had to do it the hard way, didn't you?", I asked him, even though I already knew the answer.
I was getting angrier with every word I said, angry at both of them. I started to regret asking Alan to register as a player in the school team, after all, that is what had caused the havoc.
*earlier that day*
"What're you reading, Alan? It surely doesn't look like the book our english teacher had assigned us to read.", I asked with a little chuckle.
"It's so cute when you chuckle, princess.", he said as he smirked.
I rolled my eyes in response.
"Not your princess.", I said.
"Looks like someone is not very happy today.", he remarked.
I reverted the topic back to the book he was reading because I didn't want him to talk about this.
"So, which book are you reading, Monsieur?", I asked the cute boy who had just moved from France.
"Trying to act like a lady, now are you? This book is based on the life of Kobe Bryant. Do you know who he is?", he asked.
"I do, why wouldn't I know him.", I stated in a surprised tone.
"Do you like basketball?", I asked him.
" I don't just like basketball, I love it. I used to play basketball with my brother back there in France. Even though it's a more popular sport in the US.", he replied.
Suddenly, an idea popped into my head.
I acted like I was thinking really hard about something important, the way they do in cartoons. And then, I looked at him and gave him a huge grin.
"What..?", he asked suspiciously,
"Well, I have a plan to make you feel at home here.", I said, grinning so wide that my mouth was actually starting to hurt.
"You can join our school basketball team!", I said with a lot excitement and earned looks from people for being so loud.
He smiled at me for my brilliant idea and he told me he was up for it.
I guided him to our basketball court so that he could meet the coach and have a chit chat regarding the team with him.
But instead of being greeted by Mr Henry, we were greeted by the sight of Dan Sanders caressing some pretty little blonde's face.
He stopped once he saw us, and smirked a little.
The warning bells had started to ring inside my head, I should've known better than staying there.
Alan, who was oblivious to all that had happened between me and Dan, decided to take him as a sweet person, he decided to go to him and tell him why we were here.
"School team, bro?", Dan continued, "Do you think you're capable enough of being in a team which comprises the best of us?"
The other jocks in the court started laughing, except for about three of them.
I knew Alan had understood the fact that Dan was only taunting him, but being the cheeky person he is, he decided to keep it light.
"Chill, bro. Don't be scared of me, I am not going to replace your position in the team.", Alan winked at Dan.
Dan looked angry and I saw him clench his fists, but he wasn't going to hit him yet.
"Oh, you don't know how scared I am. I'm scared that some pathetic new guy with curly hair will replace Dan Sander's position in the school.", he said imitating Alan's voice.
Alan laughed a little and said, "What are you? A child? Why're you picking up a fight with me? It's uncalled for."
"Maybe you just need to be reminded that you are not one of us just because you hang out with this.", Dan said eyeing me with hatred.
Alan had lost all his patience by then. I don't know why it angered him so much, but the way Dan referred to me got on his last nerve.
"El. Her name is Eleanor. Don't use 'this' to refer to her.", Alan said with his gritted teeth.
In this very moment I realised that if I don't take Alan away with me, a huge fight would erupt like a volcano.
"Alan, let's go.", I quietly said while trying to hold his hand.
"Yes, that's what I expect you to do. Run away.", Dan said in the most annoying way possible.
And then it happened, the thing which I had feared the most.
