Chapter 3: A shinigami's duty

The World of the Living...

Karakura Town

____________

Jin's POV

_________

I think I overdid it again...

Toshiro and Rangiku looked at the destruction around us.

"How are we going to explain this to the Head Captain?!" Captain Hitsugaya fumed.

"Calm down, Captain.." Rangiku said, a little nervously.

"How can I be calm!? Look at this! So many buildings destroyed in a matter of minutes! Jin!!" I flinched when he yelled my name. That's not a good sign.....

"What are we going to do about this? Hmm!?" He questioned, while giving me an angry look.

I shrugged.

He sighed, and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Guess we'll have to cover this up somehow."

"Hey! Toshiro! Rangiku! What are you guys arguing about?" Called a familiar voice. I turned around to see a young man with spiky orange hair and brown eyes. He also wore a Shinigmi's outfit, and carried a large, kitchen-knife looking sword on his back.

"Ichigo!" Captain Hitsugaya called.

"It's Captain Hitsugaya to you!" He said, sounding slightly annoyed.

Ichigo Kurasaki. I've never seen him in the Soul Society before. I noticed the thing around his neck.

A Substitute Shinigami Badge!

Huh. Guess that means he wasn't born a Shinigami. He walked a little closer to us.

"What happened here?" He asked, examining the area.

"Jin's Zanpakuto happened, that's what." Captain Hitsugaya said, crossing his arms, as an anime vein appeared above his right eyebrow.

"Hey! It's not his fault entirely! The Hollow did most of the damage!" Rangiku defended me.

"Are you blind? Look at this! A whole street destroyed! By him!" He pointed straight at my face. "And his Zanpakuto! He shouldn't even be here! You asked me if it was all right! I never thought that this would happen. That's why I thought it would be okay for him to come."

I started to feel bad now. I felt my eyes begin to tear up. "Jin?" Rangiku asked. "Are you.....crying?"

I turned sideways, and quickly wiped my eyes. Then, I began running.

I didn't care where I went. I ran as fast and as far my legs could carry me.

Rangiku's POV

___________

"Jin!" I called, and began to chase him, but a hand caught my wrist.

I followed the hand, to see that Rukia was holding ne.

"Let me go talk to him, okay?" She said, with a slightly worried look.

I nodded, and said "Okay."

Rukia's POV

_________

Rangiku seems to care a lot for Jin. I wonder if her relationship is deeper that that?

I let that thought go away, as I followed Jin's reiatsu signature.

"JIIIIN!" I called, hoping for him to hear me. I looked around scanning the street for his reiatsu.

I heard a pair of feet, landing near me.

"At least let me help." I looked, and saw Ichigo. "You won't be able to find him by .yourself." He stated.

"Well, we better look then." I said.

"You go down this street, and I'll go down through this street."

"Yeah." Ichigo said, and began jumping through the street.

I turned, and began running along the sidewalk, just to be safe.

As I was running, I noticed a certain man, sitting at a table, reading the newspaper, while drinking something.

He wore glasses, has long black hair, slightly tanned skin, his left eye is blue, his right eye is silver, and he wore a grey suit.

He looked straight at me, while folding his newspaper. "Well, well. What do we have here?" He stood, and walked towards me

"You can see me?" I asked.

"Yes. I can see you." He smiled. "I am Goju. I am a teacher, at the moment. Are you looking for something? Or perhaps..... someone?"

I nodded, and said "Yes, but how did you know?" He chuckled.

"I see more than what an ordinary human can see." His eyes changed to slits, then back.

"I've seen a young Shinigami pass by earlier. He went down the alleyway there." He said, pointing across the street. "He then turned left. Good day, Rukia Kuchiki." He sat back down, and went back to reading his papers.

'Who was that man?' I thought, as I made my way across the street.

I slowed down when I reached the alleyway. I looked in every possible hiding spot. I opened a rusty garbage container. Blegh! He would never hide in here!

I looked through some narrow passageways while walking through the alleyway. He won't be able to fit there....

'Oh. Where could he be?' I thought, and turned left at the alley's corner.

I looked around again, and noticed a figure on the top of a building.

"Jin?" He looked like he just finished crying. Hie eyes were red, and I could see a few marks on his cheeks. He must've been wiping his eyes a lot.

But then I noticed another figure standing near him. She wore a white Shinigami outfit, and had white hair. She walked up to Jin, and hugged him.

She knows him?

I then jumped from building to building to building, until I stood a few feet away from both of them.

The white-haired woman looked at me with a pair of golden eyes. It felt... as if she was scanning me. She grinned.

"Hello, Rukia Kuchiki. It's nice to finally meet you." She stepped forward, and bowed.

I drew my zanpakuto, and aimed it towards her.

"Who are you?!" I demanded.

She smiled again, and said "I'm no enemy if that's what you're thinking. My name is Hikaru Sairento. Jin's twin sister."

(When the names are reversed, they literally mean Silent Light)

I gasped. "What?!"

She smiled, and said "That's right. He didn't tell you, didn't he?"

I shook my head.

"I'll explain later. Right now, I gotta get going. Goodbye, Jin." She quickly pecked Jin on the cheek, and disappeared from sight.

I walked up to Jin. "Are you alright?"

He looked at me, and nodded. His expression still seemed sad.

"Come on. We have to go." I pulled him along with me. He stopped, and bent down to the ground. He stood back up, and turned around, holding a box. "A present from your sister?" I asked, a little curiously.

He nodded, and held my hand. He began teleporting, taking me along.

Jin's POV

________

I decided to go back to Captain Hitsugaya. So I could accept whatever punishment is given to me.

I didn't want Rukia to worry about me anymore. She worries about enough things. We both arrived near the area where the Captain and Rangiku were waiting. Rangiku looked a little happy to see me, while the Captain still looked angry. I let go of Rukia's hand, and stood in front of them.

"Jin! Are you goin-" Rangiku started.

"Matsumoto! Enough!" Toshiro ordered. "Jin. Are you going to accept your punishment when we report about what happened here?"

I nodded.

"Very well. Let's go." He turned around.

"But, Captain...what about the-" Rangiku said, before Toshiro interrupted "Matsumoto. We have something more urgent in our hands. We must go." He opened a portal, and we stepped through.
