Valt's P.O.V.
Today a new girl joined our class.
She had silvery grey hair; slightly darker than Shu's, and emerald green eyes. Somehow, she reminded me of Shu.
She sat next to me at lunchtime. "Hi, my name's Ella," she said.
"I'm Valt," I replied, only half-listening. I was staring at Shu, who was sitting at the other side of the cafeteria from me. He stared back for a moment, then looked away.
"I turned him into one of us," Ella remarked, following my gaze. "But he let out our secret."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, defensive of Shu.
"He told you what he is."
"A wolf demon thingy?"
"Yes. He betrayed us." Ella growled.
I watched her wearily. Was she a demon too?
"Of course I am, you nut," she said, as of she could read my mind.
"A wolf demon?"
"No, I'm a cat."
I thought about this. There were different types of them? What would I be? Would a be a wolf too? Or maybe something else...
Before I could think, I felt a burning pain on my neck. I looked down, and Ella was biting her sharp teeth into it. Blood trickled down my chest.
"Now you are one of us," Ella growled when she took her mouth away from my neck. "Your neck will heal quickly."
I stared at her. This had to be a dream. I couldn't be a demon. I got up and ran outside.
When I was outside, I looked at my reflection in the window. I looked the same, but now had blue feathery wings sprouting from my shoulder blades.
I was a bird demon.
And Shu didn't know...
