Aneko

It's the third night in the ship, and so far the coldest. (Y/N) was shivering in the corner of the women's quarters not daring to go into the mens rooms to save the stress of resisting the urge to murder a Clingy Sanji who kept on volunteering to hug her and give her his clothes, encouraging her to get changed into them in front of him. She hated Perverts, and he was no different. Before this, she'll just snuggle in her bed and read a good book, but this ship apparently doesn't have any heaters.

Dammit. Well, Better buy some.

Nami and Vivi were also cold, hugging their winter coats closer to themselves. They were lucky to have those, (Y/N) only had a black cloak, and Zoro has it right now. Whenever she was hired by people living in colder places such as drum island, she would have a winter cloak with the same black wings on it, but she doesn't have it right now. It's in the cellar of the Inn.

(Y/N) was getting bored. Very bored. It was probably around seven PM by her estimate, way too early to sleep.

And she could hear Zoro's snoring from here. She always wondered how he was able to sleep that easily.

Minutes passed and (Y/N) was still bored out of her mind. Then she remembered a song that her late mother used to sing whenever she was bored. It was a habit of hers, just sitting there in her chair, twirling her (H/C) hair in her fingers, singing. Her voice was one of the most melodic things that (Y/N) had ever heard. She missed her mother greatly, and that song reminded her of her mother. When she was younger and she heard that familiar voice start singing, she would always grab a chair and go over to her, and sing along with her. Even if she was in her backyard, doing chin-ups on one of the branches of her Apple tree while an impressed Dan was just standing there, gaping that a five year old girl was able to do that, or when she was on the toilet. Her mother would always die laughing whenever that happened, but sing with her daughter anyways. (Y/N) Brother and Father would always stare at them.

She smiled and started singing quietly.

"It's, Alright, If you feel like a void,

Soon you'll be filled with bright colourful stars,

Everyone, who has ever doubted you, doubted you,

Will be there, in awe, staring at you, staring at you,

While you are looking down, on them, like a god-"

'And you will shiiiiiiine like a staaaaaar,' Vivi continued the song like she knew it.

'Brighter, than the break of day,' Nami continued. It hit (Y/N) That they knew the song, and they all sung together.

'Nobody cares if it's dark, or gloomy, or the middle of the day,' The three were singing more confidently now.

'Just let me take you by the hand, and get you on your way,

I don't care who you are,

I don't care what you say,

I just want to show them proof,

That you're more than just bulletproof,

Stars align, sunrise,

Glistening mist, Close to the sky,

Moon shines, snow falls,

Shooting stars, way up high,

A new power has been born, shout and cry!'

The boys in the other room are starting to yell for them to shut up, only to be silenced by an angry Sanji, scolding them about shouting at women. The three just ignored the protests, and kept on singing their song. Little did they know, Zoro was leaning against the wall listening closely to their singing that whole time. He never knew that (Y/N) could sing so well.

'Little did they know,

They were standing,

Too close to a star that's shining and burning,

Greater than the dreams that they have ever dreamed,

Hotter than the sun in the middle of July,

Try your best, we'll still be better,

It'll be a miracle,

When the Stars Align.'

The three laughed, and silence followed.

"So You've heard that song before?" (Y/N) asked.

'Yeah, Bell-Mère sung that song to me and my sister when we were younger, whenever I hear that song, I always think of her.' Nami said, looking at the wall, reminiscing.

'And me and my female friends will sing that song when we were younger. My mother would always sing it along with us if she was around.' Vivi added.

"Really? My mom will sing that song to me. I miss her."

'Poor you. Well, that's one thing we all have in common.'

In the mens quarters, Zoro sat there, looking at the wall separating them.

He couldn't believe it, but he started humming the song.

That song sounded oddly familiar.

But... Where?

Of course, when he first met (Y/N) in that bar, he found something oddly familiar about her. Maybe it was the brave, determined, strong and powerful aura that surrounded her that reminded him of Kuina. The way she fought was stronger than the average human, and was ruthless. Kind of like she was trying to get revenge on them.

Wait.

What?

Stronger than the average human... Ruthless...

Zoro remembered.

He had met her before.

Zoro always had a habit of sleeping whenever possible. In the middle of training, on a boat, in the middle of a pirate raid, the list goes on and on. On this particular sunny afternoon, a young Zoro was spending the rest of his lunch break sleeping up in a tree, until voices woke him up. Master Koshiro was talking to two people that Zoro had never seen before. A young boy about fourteen by Zoro's estimate, and a younger girl who had strong resemblance to him, a year younger than Zoro. Both had (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes, they had to be siblings.

"I told you, I do not know where Dawns Gate is. You can ask other people if you want."

'Dammit. Well, come on, let's go.' The older brother said, and the girl turned on her heel and followed. The moment she turned around, She caught Zoro's attention. She had a knife in a sheath by her side. He thought she was a swordsman.

"Kuina!" Zoro shouted from the tree up to the second storey window. A head popped out and Kuina responded with a: 'What?'

"I think that girl's a swordsman."

The moment (Y/N) heard that, she froze, and looked up at the tree.

"Well are you?" He shouted at her.

'Um... Yes... But no...' She stuttered. She was clearly uncomfortable.

"What do you mean yes but no?"

'I'm not a swordsman, I'm an-' Her older brother covered her mouth before she could continue. 'Well... I can use this... Does this count as a sword?' She took a bowie knife from its sheath that was dangling on her side. Koshiro stared in awe, and his daughter came out of the house, getting a closer look.

'Yeah, that'll do. Wanna fight? It's been a while since I've met someone new 'round here who can use a sword.'

'You lookin' for a challenge? cause you got one riiiiiiiiiiiiiight here.' She was much more confident now.

'Good. BUT, with fake swords. I don't want you arriving back home in pieces.'

'Say that to yourself. Let's do this!'

The two rushed inside, and Zoro scrambled down from the tree, and into the dojo to get a better look. He had never beaten Kuina before, and he wondered if she will. The two stood in the centre, fake swords in hand. While Kuina looked more confident, the girl just examined the fake sword. She had clearly never used it before.

"I'm supposed to fight with this Umbrella thingy?" She said, looking up at Kuina.

'You seriously never used it before? how did you learn to use your kitchen knife then?'

"I went straight onto the actual thing. No fake ones, just... I went straight to the knife."

'You WHAT? What kind of teacher does that?'

"Mine. Can I just use my bowie knife in its sheath?"

'No. Deal with it.'

"Fine. Well, here goes nothing."

If it was one thing that Reiko taught (Y/N), it was to always strike first. No matter what. (Y/N) Did just that, and slashed at the navy blue haired girl. She parried the attack in an upwards motion, and swung at (Y/N)s shoulder, while the younger girl dodged the attack, swinging her sword to her opponents chest. Kuina dodged, and stood there, with a smug and determined look on her face.

'Come at me. I want to see how good your attacks are.'

(Y/N) Smirked, and started humming a tune, (Which was the exact tune as the song she sang with Nami and Vivi earlier) before charging at full force, slashing and thrusting whenever she had the chance. Kuina had obviously got superhuman reflexes, so every attack that (Y/N) threw at her was either blocked or parried.

"Not bad. Not bad at all. You've been taught well." The younger girl didn't respond. She just kept on humming.

(Y/N) Decided to go onto the defensive, and stood her ground, putting on an intimidating stare. Kuina just smiled at the fact that this was getting really interesting, before charging.

Zoro couldn't believe it.

He could barely see Kuina's attacks, and that girl was blocking and parring every single one thrown at her with absolute ease. She wasn't even breaking a sweat. Kuina slashed her final blow, but instead of her opponent getting beaten to the floor as she had expected, the girl disappeared, and the humming stopped.

No poof.

No flash of light.

Nothing.

Kuina felt something smash onto her back, and she fell to the floor, clutching her back.

"Betcha never saw that coming, eh?" She smirked, and Kuina just stared, shocked. Zoro shared the same face.

'H-How...' Kuina staggered, shocked.

"Magic."

'How old are you?'

"Nine."

'I've never been beaten by a nine year old before... What's your name?'

"My name is Aneko." (Y/N) smiled. Aneko wasn't her real name, but she'll be using it as an alias.

'Aneko-san, please teach me how to teleport.'

"I'm sorry. A magician never reveals her secrets." (Y/N) said, teleporting away to her brother who was watching nearby, and just when she was about to leave, Kuina stopped them with a 'Wait!'

"What is it? I told you, I'm not teaching you how to tele-"

'I know where to find Dawns Gate.'

"You... Do?"

'I overheard you talking with my dad, there's this place that has Log Poses for each island on the Grand Line for travellers and Pirates. I heard that Dawns Gate is on the Grand line, so a Log Pose would be essential.'

'Take us there.' (Y/N)'s Brother said, interested.

'Follow me.' Kuina exited the dojo, and the two followed. 'By the way, what was that song you were humming? It's kinda catchy.'

Later that day, when the so called "Ayeko" and her brother left to dawns gate, Zoro wanted to challenge Kuina to a duel, and quickly went to find her. He found her at the beach, enjoying the sunset while sitting in the sand, singing.

"It's, Alright, If you feel like a void,

Soon you'll be filled with bright colourful stars,

Everyone, who has ever doubted you, doubted you,

Will be there, in awe, staring at you, staring at you,

While you are looking down, on them, like a goddess, goddess-

And you will shiiiiiiine like a staaaaaar-"

'Kuina. I'm challenging you to a duel.'

"At least let me finish singing first. Brighter, than the break of day~"

'Zoro gave in, and let Kuina sing.

"Nobody cares if it's dark, or gloomy, or the middle of the day~"

Zoro hated to admit it, but that song was really good. He never thought Kuina would sing this well.

"Just let me take you by the hand, and get you on your way,

I don't care who you are,

I don't care what you say,

I just want to show them proof,

That you're more than just bulletproof,

Stars align, sunrise,

Glistening mist, Close to the sky,

Moon shines, snow falls,

Shooting stars, way up high,

A new power has been born, shout and cry!

Little did they know,

They were standing,

Too close to a star that's blazing and burning,

Greater than the dreams that they have ever dreamed,

Hotter than the sun in the middle of July,

Try your best, we'll still be better, It'll be a miracle,

When the Stars Align"

'Can we fight now?'

"Let's do this."

Zoro lost. Again.
