A moon passed, and Rowankit was outside the nursery late one morning with Swiftkit, Bumblekit, Bravekit and Sagekit. "Now, you all want to become great warriors, right?" He asked, slowly pacing around the kits, who were vigilantly sitting and watching.
"Right!" The kits shouted.

"Then you'll have to listen to me carefully," Rowankit spoke. Yes! I'll teach Swiftkit Bravekit Bumblekit and Sagekit all about being a warrior, and then Lightningtail will make me a warrior for sure! Rowankit opened his mouth to speak again, but he was interrupted by a voice behind him. "Ah, there you are Rowankit!"

Rowankit spun around to see Lightningtail a fox-length away. "Come with me," the deputy meowed.
"Uh... Okay?" Rowankit mewed, confused. "We'll continue with this lesson when I return," he added to the four kits.
"Where's Rowankit going?" Bumblekit squeaked.

"He's going to come have a talk with me, his mother and his sisters. Don't worry, you'll hear all about it soon," Lightningtail replied with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Now I'm really excited! Rowankit thought. "Let's go talk to Dawnblaze!" He cheered, leaping towards the nursery.

"When the sun-high patrols return, you three will become apprentices."
Really? "YES!" Rowankit's heart raced.
Hazelkit and Briarkit jumped with excitement. "Finally!" They squeaked.

Dawnblaze was quick to her feet. "Then we must prepare now," she meowed hurriedly.
"What's there to prepare for?" Hazelkit asked.
Dawnblaze couldn't answer, she was already bent over Briarkit, grooming her with smooth, rhythmic licks. Rowankit was bubbling with anticipation.

He burst out of the nursery, yelling. "I'm going to become an apprentice, I'm going to become an apprentice!"
He stopped suddenly as he saw Bramblefrost leaning over Bumblekit, Bravekit, Swiftkit and Sagekit. The brown warrior looked up. "Is that so?" He queried.

"Yes!" Rowankit mewed.
"Wow!" Swiftkit chimed in.
"That's amazing!" Bravekit mewed.
Rowankit glanced up. The sun was at the top of its climb in the sky. Not long now.

May all BlazeClan cats gather beneath the Hightree for this announcement!" Stormstar yowled.
It's happening! Rowankit could barely think. "Now you three, don't rush. Oh StarClan, wait Rowankit! I've missed a spot..." Dawnblaze meowed frantically. Rowankit however, was already out nursery and to the front of the group of cats gradually growing under the Hightree.

Hazelkit and Briarkit were hot on his tail. Suddenly Rowankit felt a tail wrap around him. Dawnblaze was sitting right behind the three kits, murmuring encouragement in their ears. "Stand nice and tall, and be very polite to Stormstar. And speak clearly."

Rowankit watched with anticipation as Stormstar spoke again. "Today is a special day for three young cats. Rowankit, Hazelkit, and Briarkit, please step forward."
Rowankit stepped forward, feeling the Clan's gaze upon him and his sisters.

"Rowankit, Hazelkit, and Briarkit, you have all reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Rowanpaw, Hazelpaw and Briarpaw. Rowanpaw, your mentor will be Bramblefrost. I hope he will pass on all he knows to you."

Bramblefrost! Cool! Rowanpaw dipped his head in respect to Stormstar, then turned and touched noses with Bramblefrost. Stormstar addressed Hazelpaw now. "Hazelpaw, your mentor will be Snakestripe. I hope he will pass on all he knows to you."

Rowanpaw saw Hazelpaw pad over to the large black tom who was now her mentor. "Briarpaw, your mentor will be Mintfur. I hope she will pass on all she knows to you." A young grey and white warrior met Briarpaw with a half shocked, half pleased expression.

"Rowanpaw, Hazelpaw, Briarpaw! Rowanpaw, Hazelpaw, Briarpaw!" The Clan shouted his and his sisters' names, and Rowanpaw had never felt better in his life.
