Chapter 42: Anniversary (END)

Jimin's POV

Finally, everything was back to normal...

Normal...

What even is Normal...

Life was fine, great even, nothing bad had happened in months!

I mean, I had to go to court as the victim in Jackson Wang's case... that was terrifying.

But now it's over, and he's been sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexual assault, I feel a lot better.

Now I know there's no way he can hurt me, life is perfect. I have the most imperfectly perfect group of friends and the perfect boyfriend to go with them.

I'd now class Yoongi as one of my best friends, along with Taehyung. Of course the others are also my super close friends but those two will always hold a special place in my heart, just behind Jungkook obviously.

School was going well, I was still passing everything with flying colours and Jungkook had also been doing so much better, once we started up tutoring again he was really trying hard; always completing homework on time and putting all his effort into school work.

I was proud, of course tutoring wasn't exactly how it used to be, we have more makeout breaks now.

But it was almost finals, like they were within weeks away now. Which was terrifying to think about.

But I couldn't be happier.

Next month is Jungkook and I's one year anniversary, that's something super cute and exciting to look forward to after finals.

I sold my house last month and now officially live with Jungkook, I mean I practically had been for months anyway but just making it official and getting my own house key (which I never use cause one of his maids is always there to open the door) was just so amazing.

Oh and Ddosun has a friend! Or boyfriend... I mean who am I to assume my dogs sexuality and relationship status... they do cuddle a lot though...

Baekhyun bought Tae a cute little puppy of his own; Yeontan

We arrange play dates for them all the time, they're so cute.

Speaking of cute, a couple new couples are now part of our group, turns out literally all of us guys have a thing for each other... so whether the girls find other guys or get with each other I dunno but all three are alone right now...

Jin started hanging out with us more and Namjoon managed to use his high IQ to win Mr sophisticated handsome man.

Yoongi flirted his way into getting with Hoseok, although I'm pretty certain he liked Yoongi for months before hand anyway.

And the last couple to get together was FINALLY Kai and Kyungsoo.

The amount of times I spotted them both sat alone clearly flirting, or literally cuddling each other while we all met as a group to watch a movie or something, was unreal...

They should have been together before any of the other new couples, but Kyungsoo was too shy and Kai was too stubborn, I don't even think Kai thought he was gay. I mean the amount he and Krystal used to flirt baffled me considering I always thought Kai liked guys... but apparently not until recently.

I just honestly can't think of anything that would make my life better.

I love everyone around me and I even love myself, there is nothing I would change about anyone or anything.

If I could go back in time, a year ago today... before any of this happened, when I was still that shy nerdy kid with no friends except the music teacher...

Even though so many bad things happened over the course of last year...

I would do the exact same things, all over again.

Because nothing could possibly be a better outcome than what my life has become today.

Jungkook's POV

Today is our one year anniversary.

Jimin and I have finished finals, finished high school... onto whatever the next step of our lives may be, of course we still have to wait for our results but... who cares really?

It's the most perfect day.

The sky is clear and the sun is warm, a light breeze keeping everyone just that right balance between hot and cold...

But besides all that, Jimin is right in front of me, his soft brown hair flat against his head, that billion watt smile that causes his eyes to close shining from ear to ear.

He's wearing just a plain white T-shirt tucked into black shorts that stop just above his knees. Casual, but he in no way looks less than a thousand bucks.

He's so gorgeous.

I'm so lucky to have spent a year with this man... and have the privilege of spending more years with him in the future.

"Happy one year beautiful." I smile at him, I know my smile can't look half as bright as his does, but I'm hoping he knows how happy I really am whether my nervous and awestruck grin shows it.

I go to hand him my gift, my hands shaking in the process, but he stops me and wraps his arms over my shoulders, burying his face in the crook of my neck.

He smells amazing, and the warm breath fanning against my neck somehow soothes me enough to get my body to stop shaking with nerves.

"I love you" I hear him mumble against my skin, making me hold him even tighter in my arms, "I love you too Jimin, and I always will. I promise."

He looks into my eyes, I can see the sparkle of overwhelming happiness and excitement and love inside those hazelnut brown pools.

"Let's go, I'll open those when we're there." He grabs my free hand and pulls me toward my car, that adorable giggle erupting from him as we walk, I feel the heat rising up my cheeks as I stare in adoration at the boy in front of me.

Wow...

Once we got to the park, we did our usual, turn just before actually reaching it.

Over the past few months we had gradually rebuilt my tree house, bit by bit, adding decorations and overall making it a little bigger, considering I'm definitely not a lonely 10 year old coming to sit up here anymore.

We had fit in fine when we first started tutoring up here, but a little more space would just be nice, and making the roof high enough that we could stand.

It's a good thing that it was built on the biggest tree in the area to begin with, or the extensions would have never worked. But now it's literally like a cosy bedroom, just up in a tree.

But laying on the fluffy cushions with him in my arms on a warm summers day, hearing the leaves rustle outside and the faint sound of kids playing in the park down the road... it was just perfect.

We even built a window in the roof, now that the house was taller, the tree barely covered anything above us, sure a few leaves blocked a little bit of the view, but being able to look up at the stars at night time just made it seem all the more magical.

Of course I took him here for our 1 year anniversary, I'd be crazy not to.

This was our place, yes we live together so technically our house is our place but... this little treehouse, it just means so much more to this relationship, so many memories...

So why not add our anniversary to the list of memories held in this room.

I handed Jimin his present again, and this time he took it; a small blue bag only containing one item.

I felt bad at first knowing he had a whole huge bag full of gifts sat right behind him, but I only felt bad because I knew what he was probably thinking on the inside.

I knew what I got him was enough...

Once he pulled the box out of the bag I took it back from him and he frowned in confusion, "Jungkookie I haven't actually opened it yet that's not how a present works dummy." He giggled again and I grinned at him.

I took a deep breath before getting into that position known all too well by everyone everywhere.

I watched as his eyes glistened and the huge giggly smile on his face began to falter, "Jimin, ChimChim, my partner through everything. I have loved you unconditionally for a year now, and you've done the same for me. We've been through all of what the world threw at us together. Which may I say is more than what the average couple has to go through, but we made it Jimin... I know with all my heart that nothing could ever possibly make me stop loving you. I will love you till the day I die and hopefully even beyond then, I will give you all of me and everything else I possibly can just to give you the happiness you deserve, for the rest of your life. If you'll do me the honour, and marry me?"

I tried to hold back my tears as I spoke, trying to prevent my voice from cracking and messing up the most important moment of my life.

I never once looked away from his eyes, those eyes that held so much emotion all in one fateful look.

Tears streamed down his cheeks as he listened to my partially prepared speech, before I finished, and we were engulfed by silence.

My heart stopped for a moment, suddenly terrified at his lack of response.

Until he suddenly let out a strangled sob and frantically nodded his head, "Yes Jungkook Yes Yes Yes of course I'll marry you oh my god I- I love you so god damn much you crazy insane lunatic." He laughed and cried all at once as he dived into me, kissing me hard and wrapping his arms around me.

I finally let a tear escape my eye as I held him close to me, smiling brighter than I'd ever smiled in my life, "Hey we're almost 19 Jimin, I wouldn't say marriage is so crazy for us right now, we love each other, that's all that matters." I spoke sincerely and he nodded again, struggling to get anymore words out.

He pulled away from me and I took the silver diamond ring out of the velvet box, holding his tiny hand in mine and gently sliding on the ring.

He studied it in awe:

Sure it cost me almost $8,000 but any amount is worth it for Jimin. I also may have asked my parents for help but they love Jimin as their own already anyway so my mother helped me choose the ring and they both helped pay.

Of course for our wedding rings they won't be so showy and full of diamonds, but it's difficult to find a men's engagement ring, since in typical engagements the man gives his female fiancé the ring.

I didn't want to give Jimin some feminine ring when he's the most gorgeous boy I've ever met in my life and he deserves more than an ordinary engagement ring. So I had them add extra diamonds to an ordinary male's ring. Making it a lot less ordinary.

"Thank you so much Jungkook, for everything, I can't wait to marry you, and spend the rest of my life by your side, I love you so, so much." He spoke softly beside me, the gratitude and affection spilling from his heavenly voice.

"Don't thank me Jimin, thank you for not rejecting me." I chuckled, lightening the mood, making it less serious.

"I'd never reject you silly!" He laughed along with me until we sighed and laid together in a comfortable silence.

My eyes were drawn to the way he admired the ring on his finger, he twirled and fiddled with it, studying the reflecting shine from each diamond.

I smiled down at him before resting my head back on my arm and looking through the skylight.

I guess life really can be perfect.

Wow guys, I finally finished this book... I've been writing this since 2017 and it's not even that long...

I'm sorry it took so long to complete but I really poured my heart and soul into this book.
