Chapter Twenty-Nine: "Trust Me"
Archie's POV
"Betty...Betty...Jughead...Jug!" I yelled realizing we all fell asleep on Betty's bed and were late for school.
"Huh...what..." Jug said as he rubbing his eyes. "Well Arch, I can honestly say never in my wildest dreams did I expect to wake up in bed next to you." He laughed as he grabbed his hat that had fallen on the floor.
"I'm not going. " Betty said as she started up at the ceiling.
"Yes, you are." Jug and I both said in unison.
"No, I'm not. " Betty said.
"Arch, this is more my area of specialty than yours." Jug said as he pulled Betty up from the position she was laying in on her bed. "Come on Betts, the gang misses you. You can't hide in your room forever Nancy Drew." Jug said as he wrapped his arms around her.
"But if you want to stay home one more day you can. " I said trying to intervene.
"No, no Jug's right I should go." Betty said as she got up and went into the bathroom.
"Wait!" Jug said as Betty slammed the door in his face.
"Jug she's showering, you got what you wanted she's going to school. Give her some space." I said getting annoyed.
"You idiot, I will give Betty some space just not around sharp objects. Definitely not now." Jug said as he searched her room for a bobby pin. "We have to break the door down if I can't unlock it." Jug sighed. That's when I realized what was going on.
"She's hurting herself?" I whispered to him. He nodded his head and sighed as he began to kick the door in.
"Betty please open the door. I will kick it down like last time if I have too." Jug yelled through the door.
"Like last time?" I asked.
"What Arch? You mean you didn't know about last time? When I found her sobbing on the shower floor. But that kiss meant something right? Remind me again how?" Jug scoffed as he kicked the door in. "Betty!" He yelled as we burst through the door.
"Jug I told you I would stop. " Betty said as she stood there in her towel.
"Betts, you know I wish I could believe you. But you understand why I can't right?" Jug sighed as he looked at her. She looked down at her feet as a strand of her soaking wet blonde hair fell in her face.
"I do, which means you understand why I can't believe you when you say you won't leave again." She said as she walked past both of us and back to her room.
"Wow, she got you." I laughed as I looked at him.
"You're making this miserable for me." Jug sighed.
"I'm going to make it worse as the days go on. " I said back.
"Arch the good guy routine was only cute when it was true, but you've got your demons too. How about we tell Betty about that day in the cemetery. When you stood behind a bush while she was attacked and physically scarred for life. Did you think I forgot or forgave you? I can guarantee you she won't do either of those when I'm done with you. So please Arch, keep pushing me. You won't like when I start pushing back though, that is a threat. In case you couldn't tell." Jug said as he walked back into Betty's room and slammed the door behind him. I tried to peak through the crack. He was holding her and kissing her neck. Reeling her right back in and I was royally fucked if he told her my secret. I didn't even think Betty would want to maintain a friendship after that.
