Archie's POV

I had been spending a lot of time at Betty's recently since the incident with Hal Cooper at the town hall building. But the last two nights I had to spend with Veronica, she was starting to get suspicious. I decided against telling her that Betty and I kissed. V was paranoid enough of that on her own, I didn't need to give her any more leverage than she already had on me. 

"Archiekins....I'm so proud of us for taking things slow. " Veronica said as she laid on my bare chest in bed. I rolled my eyes to myself, this is not what I had in mind when I said we were going to take things so. But things always ended up getting physical with Veronica and I. "I'm going to shower, then round two?" She laughed as she got out of my bed.

"Yeah, Ronnie. " I said as she walked into my bathroom. I got up and walked other to my bedroom window, hoping to catch a glimpse of Betty. But what I saw was Betty and Jughead making out, things were getting a little too hot and heavy for me to watch in good conscious. Once Jug pulled Betty's shirt over her head, I shut my shades furiously. Veronica walked out of my bathroom in a towel.

"What's wrong?" She asked noticing my furious expression. I needed to see Betty immediately. 

"I have to go see Betty, something doesn't feel right. I just want to make sure she's okay. Stay here." I said as I threw a t-shirt on and ran down my steps and out the door. I didn't give Veronica a second to even begin to argue with me. I ran towards the Cooper house just in time to actually have a reason to be there. I stopped in my tracks as I noticed someone attempting to break in through the back door. "HEY!" I yelled trying to get the figure to turn around. He stopped in his tracks as he turned to face me with a gun in his hand. 

"Shhh" He whispered as he finally got the door open and shut it behind him. I started to freak out, knowing if I went in after him I'd end up getting shot. So I tried to call Betty. When she didn't answer I called Jug.

"What Arch?" He answered.

"You two get out of the house now. Someone is in the house with you. He has a gun Jug." I said trying not to freak out.

"Archie...you're serious?" He asked.

"Yes Jug, get out of that fucking house. " I said back. Next thing I knew I heard gunshots through the phone and out loud. No one screamed, it was dead silent. I waited to hear someone say something...anything to let me know they were okay. When no one said anything I decided to go in. "Betty! Jug! Anyone!" I screamed. I ran up the stairs and suddenly I got this horrible feeling. Behind Betty's closed bedroom door was a horror scene. I could already imagine it, but who was the victim. I turned the door handle and there the masked man was on the floor and bleeding. I looked up at Jug who was cleaning his pocket knife off with his shirt on Betty's bed.

"Well, Arch..guess one of us doesn't run from their problems." Jug scoffed as Betty walked out of the bathroom with a bottle of bleach. Her whole body shook as she stared at her hooded assailant, lying on her bedroom floor.

"I..I...I" Betty stuttered as Jughead watched her fingers separated from the bottle, causing it to spill all over the floor. Betty's eyes fluttered back as she collapsed to the ground, hitting her head on the hardwood floor.

"Betty!" Jughead and I both screamed. Jughead rushed over to her and picked her up in his arms.

"Come on Betty! Wake up, princess! wake up!" Jughead cried. He placed his hand on the back of her head. "Fuck.." he said as he pulled it up from behind her head covered in blood.

"Oh my god fuck what do we do!" I yelled.

"For starters Arch, call Veronica and tell her the Serpents are coming for her father tonight. I suggest she leaves. Second Toni, Cheryl, Sweet Pea and Fangz are coming to take Betty and get rid of this guy." Jug said as he carried her down the steps.

"Jughead what the hell just happened to Betty?" I asked as I followed him down the steps.

"She had a panic attack Arch, I couldn't get to her in time to catch her and she hit her head. Figure out what to do with Veronica and call me." Jug said as he walked out the front door. The rest of the Serpents had just arrived.

"Our poor queen." Toni sighed as Jughead handed Betty off to Sweet Pea. Get her to Thistle house. I'll be there as soon as I can." Jug sighed as he kissed Betty's forehead.

"Fangz and I will be back for the black hood reject. Toni and Cheryl will watch over here." Sweet Pea said as they got in Cheryl's car and took off.

"Jug what the hell! You're just going to let them take Betty!" I yelled. He turned to look at me.

"Archie, do you know who that masked man was in Betty's room?" He asked me.

"No..someone we knew?" I asked.

"Someone Hiriam hired...one of his henchmen. Andre the driver. Listen Arch I don't know what's worse. You being in love with my girlfriend, my betty. Or you dating Veronica the one whose father wants Riverdale and everyone in it to burn, including the girl both of us love. It ends tonight Arch. Whatever I have to do..whose ever blood has to be shed. I don't care anymore, we Serpents live by a code..in unity there is strength, no Serpent gets left behind, betray us and we will strip you of your jacket and maybe even your life. Now that I'm the new Serpent king Arch..I'm adopting a new code. It's snakes all over Archie. Blood has to be shed this time and you know what they say about snakes...they don't shed their skin so easily." Jug said as he got on his motorcycle and took off. That's when I noticed Andre's car parked outside my house without him in. Veronica was staring at me from my bedroom window with this look of dread on her face. She had seen everything.
