Jughead's POV

Betty slept in my arms on the couch that night, I traced over the stitched scar on her side. She winced in her sleep from my touch of it. She was in pain...physical and emotional pain, I wanted to protect her from it. But how the fuck could I protect her from herself? I stared down at a long blonde strand of her hair, that fell against her face. She was so innocent, smart, fearless and strong. My North Side sweetheart turned South Side Serpent Queen.  I was about to fall asleep when I heard multiple motorcycles revving their engines outside. The sound was coming from right outside my house. I jumped up immediately causing Betty to stir. 

"Jug?" She whispered sleepily, wearing only my tee shirt.

"Betty...get dressed. " I said reaching for my pocket knife, which was on the nightstand next to me. She jumped up and slipped on her skirt and top. I looked out the window to see the Ghoulies our rival South Side gang, outside of my house. By the looks of it, I knew they weren't here just to talk. They wanted to start a fight I knew I would have to finish. Betty ran to the bedroom to get her shoes, I heard glass break followed by the sound of her scream. I ran as fast as I could to her. I stood in the doorway, watching as Betty pinned the ghoulie who broke into the trailer against the wall. She picked up a shard of window glass in her hand and waved it threateningly in his face. 

"Don't worry Jug, I got it." She said as I looked at her more turned on than I've ever been before. She took the Ghoulie by his hair with me leading her outside to the front porch.

"We meet again Malachai. " I said as I stood there in front of the leader of the Ghoulies. 

"Wow Jughead, I thought your bitch was a goner when I sent Mikey in there. But it looks like she can hold her own." He laughed as Betty stood behind me still holding the shard of window glass to Mikey's face.

"I'd prefer to be called Betty...Malachai. Long time no see huh? " She said as she walked right past me and approached him, tossing Mikey back over to the rest of the Ghoulies. "I'm sure you don't want me to go into detail in front of Juggie about our little run in the woods. Do you?" She threatened him. "Coming after the leader of your rival gang's girlfriend. I'm pretty sure that's grounds for starting a war." She smiled, biting her lip as she stared at him. Using her flirtatious nature to distract him as the rest of the Serpents gathered for some much-needed backup, in case the situation got out of hand.

"Wow Jughead...you should really keep this one close. I might try to steal her for my own wild dark Betty fantasies." Malachai said as he one cigarette from the pack in his hand. Betty grabbed it from him before he could light it. 

"I'll make a deal with you Malachai." She said as she motioned from him to light the cigarette for her. He pulled out a lighter and lit it for her. I watched as she french inhaled and blew the smoke in his face. The Serpents and I were in awe. This was a side to Betty I'd never seen before.

"Betty!" I screamed, worried Malachai would try to hurt her because of how she was teasing him. 

"Let her talk Jughead, I like where this is going." He smirked at my girlfriend.

"Stay away from our part of the South Side. And we'll stay away from yours. I'm not really into giving second chances so consider this your lucky day." Betty said as I came up behind her and put my arms around her waist.

"That's my girl. " I said as I kissed the top of her head. "You heard her Malachai take the rest of your Ghoulies and get the hell away from Sunny Side. This is a warning, the next time I assure you,  you will get your ass handed to you. " I said waiting for him to answer.

"Wow, I'm so turned on...I think we have to leave now. We'll be seeing you Serpents...and you to Betty. Hopefully very soon. " Malachai said as he got on his motorcycle and took off with the rest of the Ghoulies following behind him. The Serpents cheered as I pulled Betty in for a kiss.

"Don't get your hopes up!" She yelled as they took off back towards the other side of town.

"Sorry." She said, worried I'd be mad at her for taking charge. Little did she know that I was the complete opposite. I was totally turned on by Serpent Queen Betty.

"Sorry? Are you kidding! Betty that was unbelievable babe...see you can use your darkness for good." I said making her smile. " I can't believe you made Malachai light one of his cigarettes for you. He was enthralled with you." I said as wrapped my arms around her.

"When he tried to attack me in the woods, I grabbed his pocket knife and bend it back with my bare hands. He ran off, I guess he thought about it and it turned him on." She said smiling to herself. 

"Wow...well I know I speak for all of the Serpents when I say we are totally digging dark betty. " Toni said as she ran up to us.

"You're finally home. " I said to my girlfriend as we walked back inside. I put my Serpent jacket around her shoulders. The rest of the Serpents were screaming "ALL HAIL THE QUEEN" and Betty was smiling ear to ear. She was going to fit right in..even if her reckless streak worried me, I was going to have to let her embrace this power. It was the only way Betty would be able to build up her confidence again.
