The alien starship known as the Liberator was gliding through the vast deep abyss of space, the seven person crew had assembled on the ship's flight deck where Tarrant was giving a brief overview of events that had occurred in the past week. "As I'm sure you're aware; we have finally reached the outposts of Taurus 3, Zen has complied a complete scan of the planet's radiation levels and I have deduced that the Federation may have a built major outpost there." He explained, "There's no one down there, the planet's radiation levels are too high; the Federation are not idiots Tarrant... Unlike you..." Avon remarked in his usual sarcastic manner. The only response from the rest of the crew was an angry glare from Tarrant; Avon grinned to himself, a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Scans coming through now..." Villa said; "Hang on a minute; there's something out there!" He added, "What do you think it could be?" Dayna asked, "It's some sort of gateway thing! Whatever that thing is, it's massive! It's bigger than the ship!!" Villa replied; "Zen, confirm existence of gate, take a scan for any known life; also let us know if Villa has finally lost his marbles..." Avon said, walking over to the computer; "Scan complete; gate existence confirmed, life signs minimal..." Zen replied. "Then I suggest we investigate; Cally, you and Villa are with me... Tarrant, you and Dayna will stay behind and look after the Liberator. Let us know if anything changes..."
