Chapter 22: Review
No One's POV
Inside a classroom of Ekoda High, the Kuroba duo, we're going about their day as pre-normal. Coming to class, pulling some pranks, the occasional teasing from the brunettes side and the scheduled nap on the ravenets.
Just a normal day...

"Did you watch the news?!"
"Yeah! It was all over the net"
"You should have seen it, it was magical~!"
"Damn it, I wish I came to see it in person. It looked amazing on tv."
"Did you see when he sliced that block of ice, oh, oh, and that time he breathed fire! It was Awesome!"
"Kaitou Blade. It seems like a strange name but he's so cool~!"
"No doubt about it, he's definitely KID-Sama's apprentice~!"
"Kyaa~! Did you see the end? Before they disappeared in a poof of smoke?
They were so dreamy!"
The entire school and neighbourhood has been talking about last nights heist, when the elusive thief, Kaitou KID, came and surprise the whole of Japan with the appearance of his apprentice, Kaitou Blade ~ who was vaguely mentioned in the news a few months ago.
Sitting in their usual seats, Kaitlyn and Kaito listened in on everyone ~ well Kaitlyn was half listening, because sleep was more important.
But sleep apparently had to wait since an enraged Aoko was beckoning.
Bam!
"Not only did Tou-san had to deal with that stupid thief..." The blue eyed brunette girl slammed Kaito's desk again, and looked at him and Kaitlyn with a not so pleasant face "...he now has to deal with TWO of them! Aoko wish she could have went on the ice herself so she could give those two criminals a piece of her Mop!"
At the threat, the two mentioned thieves shivered, not liking the idea in the least. Giving her a hesitant laugh, the two sweat dropped and looked to the other in a silent agreement.
'We are definitely hiding all the mops in the building from her. Ekoda can manage without mops... right?'
Taking it upon himself, Kaito flip Aoko's skirt, making the girl fume with embarrassment, then anger and the mop chase began, leaving the braided hair ravenet to nap in peace.
Until two minutes later a blond detective came.
"Kuroba" He said, right after sliding the classroom door open and saw the prankster avoid the mop that would have hit his head, but hit a chair instead.
At his call Kaito and Kaitlyn both looked to him, then looked to each other, speaking with their eyes... 'he's talking about you, you deal with him'. But in the end, they both ignored him in favour of their own issues.
Trying as hard as he could, Hakuba composed himself, taking a deep breath and releasing it, he reminded himself that he was a decent person, and ringing Kuroba's (the male one) neck was wrong.
'But it would feel so right' he said in the back of his mind.
After Aoko stopped her pursuit on Kaito ~ who then walked back to his desk with a triumphant grin, fist bumping Kaitlyn's fist, while she still continued to lay her head face down on her left arm.
Hakuba walked up to the source of his headaches and frustration since last nights heist. As he stood in front of both said relatives with a firm presence that demanded their attention.
This intern made the duo react, Kaito turned his body towards him, leaning back on the window, then raised a brow at him with a "what is it you want this time Bastard?" Expression.
Kaitlyn just shifted in her seat, turn her head side wards now, to gaze up at the source of tension with a bored, sleepy gaze, saying... "you need something? And if not can I go back to sleep?"
The blond sweat dropped at them for just a moment because... wow, they sure can say a lot with just a look, and it's a bit scary when facing what could be a weeks load of glitter and pink hair dye.
Suppressing a shiver, the blond held on and spoke.
"You both have heard of the news right? About the new thief. KID's apprentice? By the name of Kaitou Blade?"
"No duh Sherlock" Kaito rolled his eyes at him, while Kaitlyn chuckled at the joke "it was all over the news and everyone is talking about it"
"What are your thoughts on your new apprentice performance?"
"I'm not KID Haku-basturd." Kaito protested, but before he could say anymore words *cough*Insults*cough* the blond continued.
"From what I remembered, reports were made about this Blade first appearing months back, but hadn't shown again before now. Then, I remembered something interesting..."
The blond dragged out, chancing a glance at the two Kuroba's for any signs.
"The month which the thief was first sighted... wasn't that the same month that you, Kaitlyn, entered our school?"
Nothing. The two showed him no signs besides that of confusion and irritation (guess who's, showing which). Their poker face, ever the impeccable force to reckoned with. The blond had to applaud and scowl at the duos skill.
Also lazily, Kaitlyn spoke with an air of calmness.
"So basically, Kaito's 'KID' and to your suspicions, you speculate that I'm his new apprentice, Kaitou Blade?"
There was a moment of silence as the blond looked the raven in the eyes, wondering if he should answer or wait and see if she had anything else to say. Kaito looked to be contemplating on wither to pitch in.
"Cool"
That was not the response the blond was expecting. Kaitlyn looked over at Kaito, eyes gleaming at the thought.
"Imagine that Kaito, me and you both thieves. Wouldn't that be awesome!" She looked to be waking up more by the concept of being infamous thieves. "Maybe we should dress up as them at Halloween! We could impersonate them like pros!"
Seeing the angle the young raven was going with, Kaito decided to go along, and follow her lead, abandoning his usual plan of denial.
"Maybe, but I already dressed up as KID once at the ski-lodge competition." He basically bragged
"What!"
Kaitlyn eyes widen in fabricated excitement and some disappointment in not seeing it. Acting like an excited 14-year-old was a piece of cake, and the blond Brit was finding it hard to doubt such act considering Kaitlyn was 14 and younger then the whole class.
"Its true~" Aoko's sweat voice flowed into their conversation, as she walked close and stood next to Hakuba. "Aoko and Kaito won the ski competition that time."
There came a faint blush on both Kaito and Aoko's cheeks, as they looked to each other and looked away bashfully.
Smirking almost devilishly, Kaitlyn was debating on weather to tease and nudge them for more details. Even if she isn't really into romance much, she still loves to mess with people and making them realise each others feelings in the end.
"So he dressed as KID and I'm guessing you were his princess~"
The smirk grew wider at the deepening blush of the two (physically) older teens. It would have been fun to continue, but at this point the teacher came for the lesson, stopping all conversations in the room and come to attention in their presence.
Hakuba with a lot of reluctance, had to give in to their act ~ for now ~ and return to his seat. Aoko did the same and sat at her own desk.
A classmate who's name Kaitlyn couldn't bother to recall, whispered softly to them self absently, after a question their friend stated before the teacher entered.
"I wonder when the jewel will be returned?"
Hearing this, the aftermath of the heist bloomed to the surface of her memory.
...~...~...~...~...~...~ (Last Night, After the Heist Ended) ~...~...~...~...~...~...
On the top of a building, a little off from the heists location, three figures who could only be seen from higher buildings or by sky. One was a teen boy and standing beside him was a younger teen with long hair and a old man with spectacles.
"Young Master, Miss Kaitlyn" The old man, Jii-chan, said with a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you both made it back, but what happened? You didn't come at the appointed time?."
"You can blame Kaito for that."
Kaitlyn crossed her arms and huffed, while Kaito shot her a scandalised look.
"Me! You're as much to blame as I am!"
"At least I realised that we passed the meeting spot!"
At this point the two teenagers started to argue and it would've continued if Jii didn't stop them.
"Now, now, you two. Just be happy we were able to get the jewel tonight."
This stopped them with big success, making them realise they have yet to check on the jewel in question.
"You didn't drop it this time did you?" Kaito teased
"Shut it. I didn't drop it... I think?"
Kaito watched incredulously when the ravent patted around her tail-coat, in search of the Moon's Star. Before he could comment on how unbelievable a phantom thief she could be if she keeps dropping the heist targets, she came out victoriously ~ once finding the priceless jewel.
"Ha-HA~! Found it!" She cheered, making the brunette teen and old man sigh.
With gem in hand Kaitlyn closed her eyes suddenly, having adopted this look of deep focus.
"Kaitlyn, what are you doing?"
Kaitlyn shushed him, still concentrating. After a few seconds she released a sigh, before opening her eyes again to Kaito and Jii's questioning gazes.
"Well... there is something magical about this gem, but I don't think it can do what we want." She answered
"What were you doing?"
"Sensing for magic. I'm not as good in sensing for magic as Wonda, but I know this gem does something, we just don't know what it requires for us to activate it."
"Firstly, who is Wonda and Secondly, didn't you just say it won't do what we want it to?"
"Yeah, but i'm curious as to what its for. It has a familiar magical signature... I can't remember from where, but its familiar. And also, Wonda is my guardian" She answered him in a nonchalant fashion, like what she said was a topic of normalcy.
It had made Kaito realise.
But for the months they had stayed together, he had never asked why Kaitlyn was a Thief or how she knows magic. Which now that he thought about it, the reason he never asked was possibly because of his dislike for Akako's magic, he never again questioned Kaitlyn's white flames from their first meeting ~ thinking it may have been white magic anyway.
Kaitlyn had acted normal (yeah, Normal...😅), and she said to hardly use her power unless for emergency's. So now with this new information, he knows that it was someone named Wonda ~ from the name it's obvious that its a woman ~ that taught her.
It was kind of sad.
He thought of the raven as a real family member, but he can hardly say that if he knows nothing.
Before he can think deeper on the boat of depressing thoughts, Kaitlyn clicked her fingers in realisation.
"Ha! I got it!"
"What?"
She had grinned at the two males.
"The legend that rich old guy said on the news. He had said something about the jewel being in the hands of it true owner, it will glow with a flame on the inside. Once, Wonda said to me that some magical jewels can only be activated by physical touch."
Bringing her still gloved hand to her mouth, teeth biting the fabric of one finger, she removed it swiftly and placed the glove away before holding the gem in her glove-free hand. The gem was cold by the touch without gloves.
"Anything?"
Humming briefly in thought, she was slightly wondering if she had gotten it wrong.
"Point it to the moon." an old voice suggested "He mentioned shining it to the moon"
Blinking at Jii, Kaito and Kaitlyn looked to each other and did as the man said. As if they were in a trance, they stood close together and gazed at the sapphire as the moonlight shined down. Holding their breath, they waited.
There it was.
A single pure white flame. Burning enchantingly from within the sapphires crystal walls. Jii and Kaito gasped out, completely enraptured by the magical gem.
"It actually works" It was nothing but a small whisper from Kaito's mouth "It's beautiful"
'It's just like Kaitlyn's flame from that night.'
Kaito's brow dipped downwards in thought. Was it chance? Or is there something more to this? He thought absently, but was interrupted by the distressed call of Jii's voice.
"Miss Kaitlyn!"
Breaking his gaze from the gem, Kaito looked the ravenet to see what it was that could have upset Jii. He expected to see dark brown orbs. Instead he saw orbs of glowing silver white.
"Kaitlyn?... Kaitlyn snap out of it! Kaitlyn!"
She didn't respond.
Moments ticked by as she continued to stand frozen, holding the gem up to the moon. Wind blowing against cooling skin.
Having enough, he grabbed the shorter teens shoulders, casting away her sight of the gem. The rock fell from her hand as Kaito continued to get a response from her.
The brunette watched as silver-white fades into dark brown. Kaitlyn's eyes remained open, but unfocused, even with Kaito right in front of her.
It wasn't long before the ravenets eyes rolled back and eyelids shut closed. Her legs gave out and Kaito was quick to catch her. With top hat fallen off and head how cradled and rested against the magician, the raven slumbered into oblivion.
...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...
After Kaito and Jii fussed over the raven, they finally found sense and carried the raven to one of the closer safe houses in the area. They were cautious of the gem when they proceed to recover the rock from were it fell, white flame still glowing enchantingly within.
2 hours passed until the raven showed to have waken up, but was drained and more lazy then usual, leaving Jii and Kaito worrying. Reassuring them was a little difficult for the swordsmen thief, but managed eventually. Once sure of the boys faith in her health, did she ask of the jewel and what happened before she reached a blank in her memory.
They exchanged a debating look with each other before relenting and told the raven what happen. Once they showed the gem after describing her sudden trance state and change of eye colour, did she voice out her theory.
"When I held the gem to the moon, I could feel it sapping away some of my energy... and... I'm not sure if I dreamed this or not but... I think I remember talking with someone... its all a blur to be honest, but I have a gut feeling they were real and trying to help me." She sighed, having second thought to herself "Nah, never mind, just forget it. It might have been nothing."
They decided to call it a night ~ or morning ~ and get some more shut eye before school. The teens groaned at remembrance of what they have to endure, but being night thieves they were used to little sleep ~ and because they are also two of the smartest students in school, they could sleep during math and lunch.
That's how they found themselves here, with both of them acting perfectly normal for a day of school. Listening to everyone's reviews and opinions as they go about pranking and napping.
(Yo~! I'm back! and still living!
I have apologize my lovely readers!!! 😭😭😭 I'm sorry for neglecting my books and writing, it's my last year of school and I have to focus on finishing my last assignments before graduation.
I'm kinda nervous and scared about next year, but I'm sure it will be a nerve racking adventure~! 😁 I'm going to this animation collage, so I won't be staying home and lazing around ~ but it does sound like such an appealing thought.
I hope you like this chapter and the pic I made! I made the pic as an extra for taking so long. The eyes were tricky, but I'm ok with the results.
Anyway, time for me to work on my other books! *sigh* why did I post 5 books when none of them are close to complete? Stupid younger me, being impatient. *grumbles some more and leaves for the next book*)
