Chapter 5

This one is for EniOnifade who was really enthusiastic to become one of the characters and I liked her energy!

I hope you like it girl.
^^^

Douglas Coleman's POV.

"Baby, when is our next meeting?" I ask Temah.

She takes another look at our schedule, before looking at me.

It's been a couple of months since our honeymoon and things have calmed down a bit.

We have been as close as newly married couples can be, but I already feel as if she's strained.

Our life style is... demanding.

But I plan to make her as comfortable as possible

"In 20 minutes". She responds.

I look at her as she stands in my doorway.

Her office is still opposite mine, despite my offer to have her closer.

I beckon her with a finger and pat my knee.

She complies, walking over and sitting on my lap.

I pull her closer.

"Talk to me darling. What's going on in your head? You've been quiet" I say gently.

She shrugs, nuzzling into my neck.

"Being a Coleman is difficult" she chuckles.

I rub her back.

"You've only been here a couple months" I tease, as she puts her face in my neck for comfort.

"If you don't wanna go to this meeting, I'll make something up for you and you can go straight home?" I suggest.

She shakes her head.

"Nah I would rather just get it done so we can go home and chill. Plus I've been a little on edge for Jayla's report anyway. She said that she got one of her doctor friends to look at Marisa. A head of surgery for that matter" Temah says, looking impressed.

Head of surgery?

That is really impressive!

I'm about to talk some more, when she stands sharply and looks at the time.

"The meeting!" She almost squeaks.

I suppress a chuckle and lean down to kiss her lips gently.

"I love you" I tell her.

She smiles up at me and gives me another kiss.

We walk hand in hand to the meeting talking occasionally, but otherwise developing a comfortable silence.

Then an idea sparks.

"How do you feel about hiring an assistant?" I ask her.

A rush of shock hits her features, and she looks at me.

"An assistant?" She repeats.

I nod, trying to gauge her reaction.

She shrugs at me.

"I'll think about it" she says simply.

Is that a good or bad thing?

We go to the meeting, and as usual, Temah is very vigilant.

Me on the other hand?

I find myself staring at her often and getting distracted by the sound of her even speaking.

Apart from that, the meeting goes well and by the time we are ready to go, a lot of work has been done.
                           ****

Temah Coleman's POV

"Are you sure this is what you wanna do, baby?" Douglas asks into my ear.

I nod, trying not to focus on the excited voices right outside of my door.

I decided to go ahead with the secretary option and hire someone to help me.

"Hey, don't be nervous sweetheart. This is your first interview. If you show too much fear, they'll eat you up!" Douglas says and I giggle.

He is definitely more nervous than I am.

I smooth my hands over his chest, looking up at him as he clings to my hips.

"I'm not made of glass you know" I say to him.

He leans down to kiss me.

"That's what I love about you" He confesses.

"Yeah?" I tease.

"Need me to show you?" He asks with a smirk, reaching for the zipper on the back of my skirt.

"Douglas!" I giggle, pulling away and wiping the lipstick from his chin.

He gives me a boyish grin.

"Finee! Good luck with your interview Mrs Coleman." He says lowly.

And with that, he leaves, using he side door, so that none of the interviewees are directly distracted by him walking through the front door of my office, looking a state.

He waves and gives me one of his heart melting grins as he closes the door.

Lord.

I take a deep breath, approaching my door, to let it open.

As soon as I do, my eyes widen at the amount of ladies and a couple of gentlemen outside of my door.

I look at my list.

"Miss Jenae Crighton?" I ask gently but firmly.

An average height, slim lady with a lot of curly hair and a confident smile on her face stands up.

A light skin girl with hardly any makeup. Her eyes are a soft shade of blue, giving off complete and utter innocence.

But I have 4 brothers.

And they have all had girlfriends.

Some of which are still with them together.

The others?

Demonic.

"Come in." I say with a soft smile.

I sit down and I direct her to the seat opposite to me.

"Sit down" I say to her.

I try not to smile as I remember that same direct demand from Douglas, the first time I met him.

She does as she is told and she sits down.

"Let's get started shall we?" I ask.

***

"Do you have any other questions?" I ask, nearly rolling my eyes.

Jenae Crighton.

Profile: Harmless. But annoying.

She seems like a complete and utter airhead.

Extremely full of herself and I will not have her as my assistant.

"Yeah... just one" she says blushing.

"How close will we get to work to... you know. Mr D. Coleman?" She asks all starry eyed.

My blood freezes and I nearly box her in the throat.

"What?" I ask, giving her the opportunity to take it back.

She rolls her eyes as if I'm stupid and hard of hearing.

"Y'know? The director of this thing?" She says casually.

I take in a deep breath and exhale.

"Miss Crighton, do you know who I am?" I ask her, almost eerily.

She doesn't clock.

"Erm... Temah Amoah. I looked you up! You're his assistant!" She says as if it's the most common knowledge in the world.

We updated our media and sources 4 months ago.

The advert for my assistant has been out for 3 weeks.

She's planned this.

I put my left hand on the table, exposing my ring, then I tap on my nameplate, on my desk.

"My name is Temah Coleman. I'm wife to Douglas and I'm also the joint Managing Director." I say.

Her jaw drops.

"Your research is outdated." I say to her.

She looks between me and the nameplate in shock.

Tch.

"Don't ever move to my husband again. You're excused" I say cooly.

She shoots out of her seat and runs out of my office crying!

Profile?

Demonic.

This is going to be a long day.
^^^

"Douglas, if one more of these people move to you, male or female, their face is going on a shirt!" I stage whisper to my husband, down the landline phone connecting our offices.

He chuckles.

"Welcome to the business, baby. How many have you got left?" He asks.

"Two. One man and one woman." I say.

I can almost hear him.

"You can tell me about it, while I give you a massage, this evening. How does that sound to you?" He asks.

I hun in agreement and then we hang up.

I don't even wanna do this no more!

I then get an idea.

I'm going to interview them both!

Whoever cracks first is out.

Let's see how they handle my wrath.

I swing open my door and walk into the waiting room to meet them both.

Immediately recognising me, they both stand up to greet me.

"Mrs Coleman". They say in turn.

I like the competency.

My eyes first turn to the man.

Sung-Ho Choi.

He's a broad shouldered man and although not sporting too much muscle, it's clear that he takes good care of himself.

Dark hair and dark eyes, he's a tall man that looks clean cut, but introverted. I can tell by his posture, that he knows his reason for being here.

His focus is spectacular.

I then turn to the woman.

^^ Eni Theodore.

A 5'5 woman. Beautifully dark skin and a petite frame.

She immediately oozes charisma and confidence, but she doesn't seem over-complacent at all!

I'm gonna like these two.

"Miss Theodore. Mr Choi. Please. Step into my office." I say to them.

Sung-Ho gestures for her to go before him, politely.

A gentleman.

She smiles at him softly, making him redden.

See?

Charisma.

They both follow me into my office, waiting until I instruct them to sit down, taking seats in front of my desk.

"I'm going to ask you both a set of questions. I want you to answer them as honestly as you can, and then at the end of it, one of you will get the job. The other will be asked to leave. Is that clear?" I ask.

"Yes Mrs Coleman" they say in unison.

"Good" I say.
                        ***

"Do any of you have any of you have any more questions?" I ask.

I've never been so pleased with a pair of people in my life!

They are both so smart and so conscious that it's scary.

They claim not to know each other, but the fact that they are like night and day, yet so alike is scary!

Just as I say this, there is a knock at my door.

I look at the interviewees and they look just as confused as me.

They make eye contact with one another and before I can stop them, they stand up.

Sung-Ho moves first, to open the door, Eni behind him, looking composed but deadly.

They open the door, to a startled Bryce!

He has an armful of takeout food in his grasp, and a prawn cracker in his mouth.

I nearly snort.

Sung-Ho looks him square in the eyes.

"Do I have the wrong office?" Bryce asks.

"Are you looking for a Mrs Temah Coleman?" Eni asks.

Her strong Londoner accent dominates the question.

"If so, she's preoccupied with a meeting right now. But with her permission, I can schedule you another one." She continues.

I nearly fall out laughing.

Neither of them have got the job yet, but they are ready!

I think I know who I'll pick.

But first...

Let me put Bryce out of his misery.

"Miss Theodore. Mr Choi. That strange looking man with all the food, is my brother in law. Bryce Coleman-King. He's the head of the fashion and design department" I tell them, holding back a giggle.

They both relax and then start to apologise profusely.

Bryce finishes the cracker, accepting their apologise and looking at me.

"These your interviewees?" He asks.

I nod.

"The last two" I tell him.

He gives them both a sympathetic nod, before looking at me again.

"You want one? I don't even think a pregnant woman needs this much food" he asks me and I laugh aloud.

"Don't let Crystal hear that, she'll kill you, then me for encouraging you!" I say.

He laughs.

"You're right. She needs all the food she can get before she pops." He says with a loving smile.

"I'll let you get back to your interview. I'm sorry for barging inn!" He sings, excusing himself.

I laugh.

He still owes me food from a recent bet!

I shake it off and look back to my pair of bewildered interviewees.

"I've made a decision." I say.

They immediately sit up attentively.

I look back and forth between them?

"You're hired" I say.

They both blink at me.

"Excuse me, Mrs Coleman. Who, if I can be so bold to ask?" Eni pipes up.

I smile.

"I want to hire both of you. Mr Choi. Miss Theodore. You've got the job!" I announce on the spot.

They both stare at me.

Then at each other.

Sung-Ho looks away first, blushing and Eni grins.

Call me Cupid.

"You start on Monday morning. I want you both here at 7am sharp. Understand?" I ask them.

My tone is clipped and clear.

They both agree, thanking me for the job.

I shake both of their hands.

Then they shyly shake hands with each other.

An idea strikes me.

"Let me take you both out to dinner. My treat.  A celebration for my new employees. The real work starts after the weekend" I say smoothly.

They both hang on my every word.

We will see how long that lasts when they see the workload.

"Do you accept, or?" I ask, chuckling.

They both nod excitedly and I make a quick call to Douglas, to tell him the situation that I'll be home a little late.

He immediately congratulates me and asks to meet them both the day they start, to which I approve.

This is going to be one hell of a ride!
