* Lacey:  Lacey is the transferred use of a baronial surname with Norman-French origins from a place name, the town of Lassy in northwestern France (named after a Gaulish personal name "Lascius"). Lascius appears to have Latin roots and may be a derivative of "lascivus" which means 'playful, frolicsome, kittenish'. The name was fairly restricted to English nobility and was also a powerful family name in medieval Ireland. The name first appeared in the Domesday Book, recorded as "de Laci" in 1086. As a female forename, Lacey has only been in use since the latter half of the 20th century. The name is spelled Lacey, Lacy or Laci – although it is most commonly spelled Lacey. Today, this female given name is most popular in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

* Caroline:  Caroline is the French feminine form of Carolus, the Medieval Latin form of Charles (the French pronounce it ka-ro-LEEN). Carolus, Charles and Caroline all derived from the same Germanic word: "karl" meaning "free man." Originally, many centuries ago, the term "karl" signified a "free" man but not one of nobility (in other words, he wasn't a serf or slave). The Olde English cognate "ceorl" (from the same root) defined a "man of low birth, a common man". In later Middle High German and Middle English, however, both terms evolved their definitions to mean more simply "man, fellow, husband". By that time, the name Caroline was firmly rooted in the English aristocracy. Today Caroline is most popular in Denmark and moderately popular in France. It's also a Top 100 favorite in the United States.

* Gideon:  The ancestry of the name Gideon dates from the ancient Anglo-Saxon culture of Britain. It comes from when the family lived the ancient Hebrew name Gideon, meaning one who cuts down.

* Lacey:  Jason and Sarah collectively chose her first name. It was a highly uncommon name for a girl during the '80s, and it fit their daughter perfectly.

* Caroline:  Jason chose Lacey's middle name... with help from David Rossi. David had been talking about his latest escapade concerning his wife, Carolyn Baker. While the Italian was going into his rant, Jason had found the perfect middle name for his and Sarah's daughter. Jason was very grateful to his partner for accidentally giving Lacey her middle name.

* Gideon:  Lacey would've had Sarah's surname as well, but Sarah and Jason decided that Lacey would just take her father's surname, Gideon.

* Reid is noted for his socially awkwardness and prodigal brilliantness, which draws on his analytical way of thinking and establishes him as the encyclopedic brainiac of the group. He has an affinity for words — from reading and scrutinizing texts at an astounding 20,000 words per minute (an average American adult reads text at 200–300 words per minute) and his rambling of long explanations and tangents (prompting Morgan and other team members to have to tell him to be quiet).

* He tends to miss social cues at times (for example, unknowingly changing the subject of a conversation).

* Reid also had a hard time feeling empathy, among other emotions, until after the events of season two, stating that he could understand what the victims felt before they died to Morgan in "Fear and Loathing." Matthew Gray Gubler has also commented on the differences between Reid and similarly odd character Garcia: "She represents everything he is not, she is very tech oriented and I would like to imagine he is more like 1920s smart, books and reading etc."

* Reid is a technophobe and does not use either email or the new iPads. Gubler tweeted that Reid is also germaphobic.

* On par with bring an eccentric genius with trouble at conforming to social behavior, the show has hinted at symptoms displayed with schizophrenia, minor autism, and Asperger's Syndrome, as evident by his bursts of long-winded commentary, his impressive academic history (three PhDs in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering) in a short amount of time, and adverse reactions when touched by strangers. It is speculated that he may also have slight obsessive-compulsive disorder, particularly from a scene in "Out of the Light" where Morgan slightly moves an item in the home of Marcus Talbot (who suffers from it), and Reid immediately places it back to its previous spot.
