We were on our way back to the Waverider. It was quiet.

"God I thought this thing went fast." I whispered sighing.

"Bored Blackbird?"

"Sadly yes. I never get bored....well I use to."

"Now you know my story so what's yours?" Leonard asked trying to distract me from my boredom I guess.

"True I know some of yours. I known none of Mick's or Jax's." I responded and he laughed.

"Alright. My dad raised me to be a thief after he was released. Met Mick when I was 14. We've been partners ever since."

"So short version fine. My parents were never around. I later found out that my dad worked for the League of Assassins until he met my mom who was Sorceress Supreme. They had me. Ra's Al-Ghul was my god-father...however he was more of a father to me. He gave me the nickname Nightingale and this necklace. I was born in Starling City, moved to Opal City until my parents were killed by a rogue member. Then I went to Central City. 2013 got hit by the particle accelerator and was in a coma for 10 months. Became the Nightingale then vanished for 2 years." I said smiling.

"Wow...and I thought I had it bad." Jax said and I smiled softly.

"Is that when your voice became a weapon?" Mick asked and I nodded. I sighed looking out the window.

"I didn't want to be this way but every curse has a blessing. Mine was my latent magic became stronger." They were all quiet after that. I didn't blame them, however I didn't tell them everything.

"Jefferson? Jefferson where are you?" Stein's voice came through the intercom.

"Well, it's not's short story." Jax said smiling at us.

"There's no time. Gideon will upload you coordinates to the Greyhill Building. Rip and Sara are in danger." His voice said.

"We're on our way, Professor." Leonard said looking at me. The intercom went off and he sighed. "You feel up to fighting?"

"I can't use my voice...but I packed my bow and arrows on here in case." I smiled brightly making him laugh a little.

It didn't take long for us to find the building. I grabbed my quiver and bow while Mick and Leonard made sure they had their guns.

"You ready Blackbird?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." I whispered tucking my necklace into my shirt. The second we walked in we started to be attacked. I drew my bow and hit a man right in the heart, the one thing I said I would never do but things change. These men worked for Savage and he pissed me off.

"Now this is a party!" Mick yelled setting men on fire. I followed close to them and shot at anyone who they couldn't reach with their guns.

"Mick duck!" I yelled and he did. I shot the guy right in the eye and Mick toasted him.

"Nice shot birdie!" Mick said laughing.

"Stand back." Leonard said as he blasted the door open. Jax stood by me. He had been punching people out.

"Let's get this party started!" Mick yelled smiling.

"Here's our invitation!" Leonard yelled before blasting some guy. I started shooting until I ran out of arrows.

"Shit." I whispered and placed my bow on my back. "I llac nopu eht secrof fo erutan! eviG em eci dna erif!"(I call upon the forces of nature! Give me ice and fire!) One of my hands engulfed and fire and the other in ice. I started shoot those at people. Mick got to Sara and Rip.

"You came!" Rip shouted.

"We're a team! Next time remember that." Jax said before hitting another guy.

"Enough!" Savage yelled and held something out that shot a beam. Leonard pushed me out of the way. Jax and Mick grabbed Carter's body while Leonard started to shoot again. I tried to get up but something was wrong. My shoulder felt heavy. I looked down to see it was bleeding.

"Veronica!" Rip yelled looking at me.

"I'm good!" I yelled back before standing. My left side wasn't going to be useful so I didn't have ice anymore. Another blue light came and knocked everyone down. Leonard shot up and grabbed me.

"Where are we going?"

"To make sure Mick is okay." Leonard said pulling my right arm, not touching my hand. "Can you put that out?" I shook my hand and the flame was gone.

"What about Rip and Sara?"

"They'll be fine!" He yelled shooting our way out. We made it to the Jumpship and he sat me down next to Mick. "Watch her." He told Mick who nodded and looked at my arm.

"Stay awake birdie."

"I'll try." I told him smiling.

The rest of the team got on board and Jax flew us out of there and back to the ship. I was taken straight to Medbay by Leonard. Kendra was awake with Stein and Ray by her side.

"Make sure she stays here until she's better." Leonard told them before leaving me.

"Roni what happened?"

"I wasn't careful...but I'm alive." I said smiling but Ray was not happy.

"How are they?" Rip asked walking in. Gideon was patching up my arm.

"Better. Thank you for what you did for Carter." Kendra said to Rip and me.

"Believe me it was a team effort." Rip smiled at me. "As was, apparently, your recovery."

"Well, actually, I did most the physical work and Professor was there for emotional support."

"Ray!" I yelled at him.

"Your welcome." I rolled my eyes and groaned as Gideon added the last invisible stitch.

"I advise you to not over use your arm for two weeks Ms. Melody."

"I'll try." I replied sarcastically. I got off the bed and walked out. Instead of going to my room I went to the bridge. Leonard was there pacing. "Hey you okay?"

"I could ask you the same thing." I smiled and walked over to him.

"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be." I told him and he smirked. "So what are you pacing for?"

"I'm about to check the timeline."

"About your father?" He nodded. "Do you want me to leave?"

"No stay." I smiled and took a seat in Rip's chair. "Gideon can you show me the timeline?"

"Of course." She pulled up the newspaper and I sighed. His father still got arrested but not for stealing it, for selling it.

"Maybe you didn't understand me, I asked for the new timeline, Gideon."

"This is the new timeline. Two days from now, your father will be arrested trying to sell the Maximillian Emerald to an undercover police officer."

"Stupid son of a bitch." Leonard whispered and I smiled at him softly.

"He'll be sentenced to five years in Iron Heights. Despite your intervention, his future remains unchanged."

"I'm sorry Leonard." I whispered and I got up walking over to him.

"Hey you tried to save him. That's got to count for something." Jax said and we didn't turn to face him.

"Turns out it doesn't." I held his hand and he didn't pull away, he just gave it a light squeeze.

"Come on." Sara's voice said and I turned to look at her.

"Where are we going now?" Leonard asked not facing her.

"To say goodbye." Sara responded and I released Leonard's hand but before I could he gave me one last squeeze.

I stood between Mick and Leonard, of course Ray was not happy about that. Sara finally got the hint that she didn't need to protect me 100%, just to make sure I don't die. Rip walked forward.

"The other day, I tried to find some words of inspiration. Words that would restore hope to us in the wake of our losses, but it is all of you who have inspired me. Beginning with Professor Boardman and then with Carter...their heroism is an inspiration to us all. And a reminder that one person acting alone can't save the world." Rip said.

Sara walked off first followed by Mick. Leonard waited by my side until I was ready, which only lasted a couple of seconds. I sighed as we walked back to the ship.

"You okay?" Leonard asked me and I smiled up at him.

"I'm fine...just worried."

"About?"

"What's going to happen if I can't use my magic one day." He smirked at me. "What?"

"If that happens...I'm sure I'll be beside you. With Mick right on the other side. I don't know if you noticed Veronica, but for some odd reason we're okay with having you around."

"Yeah...I feel the same way." He smirked and I wrapped my arms around his as we walked inside the ship. Mick was waiting for us.

"What took you two so long?"

"My worries over nothing." I told Mick and he nodded. We walked into the bridge and I sat in the seat that was Carter's because both Mick and Leonard made me sit.

Kendra came in and sat next to me smiling softly at me.

"Gideon, ready us for take off." Rip said running onto the bridge.

"Whoa, are we being chased or something?" Jax asked and Rip sighed.

"No, but I imagine that right about now, the museum has realized that their prized emerald is missing." Rip said looking at Leonard.

"You want me to say I'm sorry?"

"Sorry I don't do sorry." Mick said and Rip looked between the two of them.

"Which is fine Mr. Rory. Because you are owed the apology. I should have told you all before that this wasn't my first attempt to vanquish Vandal Savage. Bu the reason I failed before...."

"Was because you didn't have all of us." Ray said interrupting Rip.

"Obviously Dr. Palmer and I had our hands full tending to Ms. Saunders, but now that she's back on her feet."

"We're back to full strength." Rip said happy.

"Or as strong as we can be without Carter." Kendra added in not looking at anyone.

"Quite true, but there is no point in us continuing any further. Unless we are all and myself included, committed to working in concert."

"You don't ditch us, we won't ditch you. Deal?" Leonard said and Rip nodded.

"Sir, I've completed my review of the timeline." Leonard walked over to Jax and sat beside him while Mick sat by Stein. "I calculate a 98% likelihood that Savage reappears in 1986."

"Chart a course, Gideon."

"Guess we're headed to the '80s. Better break out your parachute pants." Ray said sighing.

"What the hell are parachute pants?" Jax asked and I laughed.
