88 AC, Kings Landing

Screams of agony and promises of pain resonated throughout the Red Keep. Late in the hour, just a few hours before the full moon was to appear, the wife of Prince Viserys, Princess Alicent Hightower was bringing forth the newest member of the Targaryen royal family. The hours seemed to go by quickly for Prince Viserys who was cuckold in his grandfather's solar with the entirety of the royal family — they all waited dutifully to receive word and 5 minutes before midnight, a random hand maiden entered the solar announcing the arrival of a new princess, but what shocked the rest of the family was the maester who entered after her looking worse for wear.

"What is it, Maester Mellos?" Jaehaerys barked out.

"The moon, your grace, the full moon is a blood moon," Mellos stated firmly, pointing out the solar window where the blood moon finally appeared.

Viserys gasped, Otto Hightower stood stoically but had a look of pride shining in his aging eyes while King Jaehaerys looked up at the blood moon in complete awe.

"Is Alicent decent to have visitors?" Viserys asked.

"Her grace, the princess is ready to receive visitors," Mellos confirmed.

"And the babe? Is she healthy?" Otto asked further.

"Healthy and robust, my Lord Hightower," Mellos replied.

Otto smiled sincerely looking over at his wife, Princess Visenya Targaryen who had unshed tears welling in her beautiful amethyst eyes, "A girl has never been born first in the Targaryen royal family, this is truly a great boon of the house of dragons."

Jaehaerys turned around and looked at Otto with wide eyes, "I never thought of that, but you are right Otto, this is a great boon for House Targaryen."

"A blood moon is also a good omen... according to Valyrian customs," Rhaenys commented. "By the way; congratulations sister on your first grandchild."

Visenya smiled, "Thank you sister. It seems the fourteen flames have blessed our family after so much tragedy."

"Well I wish to go and see my child. I shall come and get the rest of you after I see my wife," Viserys decided before walking into the chambers where the newest Targaryen babe rested.

Alicent stroked her daughter's cheek affectionately. She looked at the beautiful creature she created with so much love shining in her dark purple eyes. The labor had been extremely easy beside being in labor for over 24 hours, all it took was 5 pushes to bring her little dragon into the world — the maesters said it was one of the easiest births they've been to in their entire lives as maester's with the citadel. She was interrupted from her inner thoughts when the door to her chambers was banged open and her husband came waltzing in alongside both of their parents who looked at not her with nothing but pure pride — she also noticed the old king Jaehaerys slowly making his way in after them.

"I hear we have a daughter born loud and healthy?" Viserys boomed as he came to stand idly by the side of his wife's bed.

"Born on a blood moon no less, and the first girl born since the beginning of the Targaryen dynasty," Otto commented, looking over at his daughter with deep pride.

"An unusually quiet babe," Jaehaerys muttered from beside Viserys.

"She is quite curious. She's done nothing but look around ever since she's entered the world," Alicent smiled.

"Can I hold her?" Viserys asked excitedly.

"Of course, Lord Husband," Alicent agreed, handing the small babe over as Prince Baelon instructed his son on how to properly hold the child.

"I know how to hold a child, father" Viserys scoffed before returning his eyes to his precious jewel.

Jaehaerys ignored the bickering duo, pulling the cloth away from her head of his great-grandchild to examine her hair color, and low and behold the small babe had the purest white hair he had ever seen. No one has had this shade of hair color since Lord Aenar Targaryen, and Queen Visenya Targaryen. He hummed in satisfaction, "A beautiful shade of hair — as white as snow, she shall be a great beauty one day, Alicent."

Alicent beamed at her grandfather, "She shall be, but have you seen her eyes?"

Viserys looked deep into the eyes of his daughter and smiled softly, "She has Queen Alysanne's eye color. Amethyst, and the brightest shade of it I have ever seen."

A lone tear escaped the eye of Jaehaerys at the mention of his lady wife and queen. If only she was still here to experience the birth of her first great-grandchild and the joy it has brought this entire family, he thought bitterly, knowing that Alysanne was still living on Dragonstone, away from court and their thriving family.

"She'll have many lords vying for her hand one day," Prince Baelon mused.

"No lord will ever be good for my little dragon," Viserys cooed.

Alicent rolled her eyes fondly at her husband as he doted on their first born.

"And she'll only have the choice of the best," Jaehaerys muttered as he gestured for his grandson to hand over Naeseryne who was looking over at her great-grand sire in complete wonderment much to the annoyance of her grandfather, Baelon.

The special moment was interrupted by a deafening roar radiating off the walls of the Red Keep, a roar so deep, it felt ancient making all of those within the birthing chamber freeze.

"Your grace! Your grace! Your grace!" Ser Harrold Westerling shouted, barging into the room unexpectedly in a frenzy.

"What is the meaning of this Lord Commander?" Jaehaerys barked out before handing Naeseryne back to her startled mother.

"There is a rogue dragon circling the Red Keep," Ser Harrold stuttered.

"What rogue dragon, Ser Harrold?" Viserys questioned intrigued.

"It's the wild dragon Achlys, my prince, she is circling the keep as if she means to make a landing—" Ser Harrold tried to finish but was interrupted when the side of the red keep shook from the foundation.

Jaehaerys slowly turned around when another deafening roar came from just outside the window of the birthing chamber. His eyes widened when he saw the infamous three-headed she-dragon peep her 6 different eye's into the chamber, looking around until her gaze turned towards Alicent who was holding tightly to her newborn babe as if she was a lifeline. His mind quickly reeled as he realized something. Lord Aenar and Aegon, the Conqueror both had dragons bond with them merely hours after they entered the world; Dragonborn they were proclaimed. A giddy smile overtook the old king's aging face which didn't go unnoticed by the other occupants in the chambers.

"May I see my granddaughter, Alicent?" Jaehaerys asked politely as an idea formed in his aging mind.

Viserys shared a look of confusion with his father, "Grandsire, what are you doing?"

Jaehaerys tutted, "I have a working theory."

"What working theory? There is an ancient dragon outside my granddaughter's window and it does not seem to be leaving," Baelon asked pointedly, looking over at his precious granddaughter with nothing but worry.

"You know the legend of Dragonborn's?" Jaehaerys asked plainly.

"Yes," Viserys drawled out. "Lord Aenar and King Aegon are the only recorded Dragonborn's in our history. There hasn't been one for nearly 90 years."

Baelon's eyes widened in realization, "Father, you can't be insinuating that Naeseryne is a Dragonborn?"

Jaehaerys laughed, "That is exactly what I'm insinuating. It's the only logical theory. Look at Achlys , she has yet to remove her eyes from our precious little dragon. I bet if I walked out onto the balcony she would react according to the ways of a bonded Dragonborn."

*RAWR *

Alicent shared an uneasy glance with her father unlike her mother who was looking between her granddaughter and the ancient dragon with nothing but pure awe shining in her bright violet eyes. Princess Visenya Targaryen was a staunch supporter of the Valryian customs of old, so for her to witness such an extraordinary events such as the declaration of a Dragonborn was beyond her wildest dreams — her granddaughter being the declared dragonborn was just the icing on top of the cake.

"So how does one become a dragonborn?" Alicent asked curiously.

"Honestly, no one knows how — all that is recorded according to the diaries of Aenar Targaryen and King Aegon Targaryen is that a dragonborn is someone who bonds with a dragon within the first couple hours of their birth, it is also stated that a dragonborn shares a deep connection with all dragons," Jaehaerys enunciated.

"And how does a dragon bond with a newborn babe?" Maester Mellos asked.

Jaehaerys rolled his eyes at the maester, "Just like I bonded with Vermithor. How else does a dragon blooded Targaryen bond with a dragon?"

"Grey rat," Visenya sneered under her breath, earning a jab in the rib from her lord husband who had nothing but mirth shining in his eyes.

Jaehaerys stood next to the side of Alicent's birthing bed and looked down at Naeseryne fondly, "May I?"

Alicent looked at Viserys for reassurement which she earned with a simple nod knowing that the old king meant no harm to your newborn daughter, "The dragon won't harm her right?"

"Of course not. When King Aegon bonded with Belarion it was said that the dragon simply looked at him with nothing but respect and admiration," Jaehaerys replied. "I promise, I won't let any harm come to our precious dragon princess."

Alicent nodded as she carefully handed over her daughter to her grandsire who looked at Naeseryne as if she was the most precious gem in the entirety of the seven kingdoms. Baelon and Viserys followed closely behind the elderly king as he made his way onto the balcony — the remainder of the Targaryen family surrounded Alicent praising her for bringing the newest family member into the world.

Jaehaerys stepped out onto the balcony warily, looking around as he soon spotted Achlys who was still clinging to the side wall of the massive Red Keep, "I never knew her to be that size. She has grown tremendously. I would say by the time our little dragon princess can mount her she'll be far bigger than Vhagar."

"She's the spawn of Belarion. What did you expect, father?" Baelon teased earning a growl from the ancient dragon who still had her gaze fixated on his granddaughter.

"She has yet to turn her gaze from my daughter. Maybe you are right about the dragonborn theory grandsire," Viserys pointed out.

Jaehaerys nodded in agreement before slowly making its way to the huge dragon who started to chirp and coo the closer he got to it. Raising his head, he made eye contact with the dragon that resembled his house's emblem so closely. With bated breath, he witnessed the remarkable bond settle between Naeseryne and Achlys the instant they both made eye contact with one another. The large dragon carefully lowered all three of its heads so the newborn dragon princess could lay her small delicate hands on the beast.

"Unbelievable," Baelon muttered as he too witnessed the bond form between his granddaughter and the huge dragon.

"Absolutely astonishing. My little girl was born for greatness," Viserys commented with a hint of pride in his voice.

Jaehaerys laughed as all of the dragons in the dragon pit roared as one, "Of course she was born for greatness, she's my granddaughter after all."

Dragonborn's weren't just Targaryens with a deep connection to dragons, they were fire made flesh with fire and blood magic running strongly through their veins, and Naeseryne Targaryen would be the strongest of them all.
