Chapter 6

Anonymous love letter

"Should I carry you?", Heath offers as he senses my difficulty to walk in crutches.

"Thanks but no thanks. I'm good", I politely decline as I wobble a little.

I felt like Mr Wobblyman from Noddy. It was embarrassing but I know it'd be even more embarrassing if he carried me. My sisters would ridicule me for days on end.

"The cabins this way", He says as he placed a hand on my shoulder navigating the route.

We walked - I hobbled and wobbled - until we reached a clearing. A huge cabin was situated in the middle, ferns and flowers around it. A cricket chirped in the distance and the sound of the waterfall was much clearer.

"Its beautiful", I whisper.

"Yeah, wanna check something better out", He whispered as he grabbed my hand and tagged me along with him.

We reached a waterfall. The flowing blue water and the heavenly tranquility surrounding the area was music to my ears. The world was such a beautiful place.

"Shouldn't we be looking for clues?", I suddenly remember as I stagger back from the waterfall and make my way towards the cabin. I could hear Heaths footsteps behind me.

I reached the wooden door of the cabin and pushed it open. For a place with so much importance and history it wasn't even safely guarded.

The floorboards creaked under our feet and the cabin was filled with an eerie silence. "The atmosphere feels creepier than the music in Annabelle."

I nervously gulp as I see Heath's bemused expression. Talk about being stone cold. "Heath", I tap him on the shoulder to make sure he hadn't left this world as yet.

"Ye-yeah?", to my relief he responds.

"Watcha find?", I ask.

"Nothing really", He replies.

I move closer to the glass cupboard. Logs of wood had engravings on them.

"Noelle White", I read out "my sis left a legacy."

I further examined the logs most stories were horrific, others gruesome. But the truth was irrefutable; they all were scary.

I moved on to the alumni board. So many teachers were previously students at the school and from what I heard Noelle said that the teachers loved the school so who could possibly want to sabotage the schools entrance ceremony camp.

After examining every detailed record, cupboard and dusty shelf I've obtained zero information.

"Theres nothing here, Heath", I sigh in exasperation.

"That's not why I brought you here", He mutters as he steps closer.

My crutches wobble as my hands began to shiver. Was I gonna die here? Am I gonna be raped? Oh sweet God, please save me. I swear I'll go to the church every Sunday and confess all my sins and be a good girl. And I promise to do the yardwork and look after Eric.

"Please don't rape me", I blurt out.

He bursts into laughter and I just narrow my eyes at him, " gosh, why would I do that?"

I breathe out a sigh of relief and then realise, I made a complete fool of myself in front of the Heath Hobbs. God Damn, I'm such a nutcase. I mumble a train of profanities in my mind at my stupidity and mentally smack myself. Of course Heath wouldn't rape me. Xavier would most probably do it since the guy doesn't have a shred of respect in him. Or maybe that's what I think from his closed off ice cold attitude.

"If you're not gonna rape me, then why did you bring me here?", I ask.

"Meh, don't you remember anything?"

I gave Heath a perplexed look, we were here cause we had to look for vital clues not to discuss reminiscing about the past. Next thing he'll be asking me is if I got an anonymous love letter as a toddler.

"I have absolutely no idea about what you're saying!"

"So the name Xay-Xay never rung the bell of familiarity in your ears?", He asks astounded.

"No, was it supposed to?", I ask wincing, the pain in my legs was growing. My arms were tired, the crutches were poking me and my cast was all itchy.

"I can't believe it!"

Confusion wasn't hitting me in colossal waves that were meant to drown me. What was he saying. None of it made sense. Why would I need to come to the 'Cabin of Fame'. Was the fog linked to me in some manner. It didn't make sense.

Heath spotted my confusion "didn't you come here as a kid?"

"Not really, I don't have any memories about my childhood. My parents said that I suffered from short term Amnesia. Talk about bad luck. I really like savoring my memories and reminiscing about the past, but when you forget it hurts."

"Well, then we should get going", He says exiting.

I walk out shutting the cabin door behind me and look for his familiar figure and spot nothing.

"Heath", I call out.

I'm met with silence and the constant sloshing from the waterfall. "Heath", I call out once more, but my calls had no avail.

"Brook, you have to see this", He finally yelled back.

I followed the sound of his voice and nearly died from shock, the waterfall was polluted. Ripped trash bags were thrown in and debris, dirt and filth contaminated the water.

"What the-", I spot Heath trying to get some out.

"Heath that's gross", I mention.

"Conserving nature is my duty. Someone definitely is sabotaging our entrance ceremony camp and we need to get the hell out of here before they think its us."

Boy, oh boy. I think the rides getting wilder. Buckle your seatbelts Brooklyn White, cause mystery is coming my way head on.
