Chapter 5: Rin
The day after the talent show, Kinzie got all she could on Rin. What she did, her daily schedules, and when Kinzie could have an opportunity to take her out. She used her notebook for planning, but kept it in a different section. Her normal, fanfic-style thoughts were still in the same lines as the previous ones. She kept her information gathering as stealthy as she could, only taking notes from the roof where she could see Rin doing her things, like hanging out with the others, playing baseball with Matt in the field, and strangely enough, reading a book. Although she falls asleep halfway through doing so. Kinzie started paying more attention in Biology, as she needed it for her plan. She also took notes of when she could probably enter the nurse's office and swipe a syringe and tranquilizer for what she was going to do. Kinzie found a place she could hide her unconscious body and keep it there until she comes back later at night. Using what she learned in Biology, she got her hands on some non-lethal poison that causes its victims to get sick instead. One lunch period, she put the poison in a random student's lunch, causing them to get brought to the nurse's office. Kinzie was waiting by her door, so once the nurse left, she snuck inside, quickly stole a syringe and tranquilizer, and left the office. Thankfully, no one was around to see her do it. Her plan was in motion, and now all she needed to do was get Rin in the right place.
Meanwhile, two people were watching her movements. Matt kept an eye on Kinzie, noticing her movements out of the corner of his eye. Whenever Kinzie looked like she was doing something suspicious, he made a voice recording at night to help him mark it. He saw her in Biology at a suspiciously higher frequency, and saw her writing in her notebook whenever he was in her sight. His instinct told him that she could be the suspect, but he didn't have any evidence for an accusation. He heard of an old case at this very academy that in the 90's, someone also tried accusing a fellow student of murder, but she was able to turn the tables on him, making it look like he wanted attention. As a result, his family disowned him and he was left on the streets. He went missing shortly afterward however, and to this day no one knows where he went. Another one who was watching Kinzie was Alex, watching her movements when she was alone. It isn't exactly known what she's doing it for, but no one notices it. Not even Matt. Both of them keep an eye on her, but while a few other suspects have popped up, none were more likely than Kinzie. So, they set aside the other suspects and kept their watch on her.
Rin opened up her locker at lunch to find a note inside. "Meet me at the storage room later after classes. There's something I need to discuss with you. – Kinzie" The note read. Rin raised an eyebrow, before shrugging and stuffing the note into her pocket. She made a mental note of it, and headed to class. Several hours later, the clock struck 4:20PM, signaling the end of classes. Rin said farewell to Matt, who was walking away. Afterward, she walked behind the school and near the shed. After a few minutes, Kinzie showed up, her bag on her side. "Oh, there you are." Rin said, putting her hands on her waist. "So, what'd you need to discuss?" She asked Kinzie, who simply stood in front of her. "We need to move inside the shed for this." Kinzie replied, looking around to give the impression that she needs to hide something. Rin was oblivious to this however, shrugging and moving inside the surprisingly spacious area. She saw multiple boxes, shelves, and strangely enough, a large case with holes that looked like it could fit some instruments... or a body. "Anyway..." Rin turned to face Kinzie. "Really, why'd you need me to be here?" She asked her again, but Kinzie reached into her bag. "I just need you to... keep away from my Matt." She said ominously, leaving Rin confused. Suddenly, Kinzie pulled out the syringe from previously, and quickly stabbed Rin in the neck with it. She couldn't fight back, and started to stagger backwards. Eventually, she lost consciousness, and Kinzie loaded her into the instrument case, locked it, and left the shed, intending to come back for it later.
Two hours passed, and Kinzie had returned to the area stealthily. She avoided wearing her uniform, switching to a white coat and some pants. She entered the storage room, saw the case still locked, and pulled it out. She brought the case back to her house, telling anyone who asked what she was carrying that she was a late-night musician. She dragged the case into her basement, opened it up, carried Rin out of it, and tied the still unconscious girl to a chair. Kinzie kept her there, going back up to eat dinner. Once she was finished, she came back down to find Rin awake and terrified. "Where am I!? What the hell did you do!?" Her yells sounded, but Kinzie didn't respond. She simply walked in front of her, grabbing something off a nearby table. She brought it in front of Rin, revealing it to be another rope. Rin started yelling again. "What are you gonna do to me!?" She was still freaking out, but Kinzie, unresponsive, walked behind her, and started to strangle Rin with the rope. She started gurgling, but after about ten seconds of strangulation, Kinzie let go, allowing her to breathe. The cycle repeated over and over, and each time Rin would try yelling at Kinzie, but would receive no reply. After the strangling, Kinzie moved onto other methods of torture, the kinds only a true monster would use. And each one, Rin had no release, no escape, and no death to prevent this pain she didn't deserve.
Over the next week, Kinzie tortured Rin daily, but giving her food and water so as she doesn't die from natural causes. Her torture methods varied, from poking holes in her with barbed wire, strangling her with the rope, to non-fatal, but very painful knife slashes. Each time Kinzie cleaned herself of the blood, but didn't do the same for Rin, making everything as uncomfortable as possible. Her clothes were torn and dirty, her eyelids barely worked, and her entire body was covered in wounds. She couldn't speak in any way other than weakened and small pleas, and could hardly move. Yet Kinzie didn't care. Whenever she was torturing Rin, her judgement was clouded and only violent thoughts filled her head, not saying a word whenever torturing her, and not even when cleaning the bloodied room. Not a single word. Rin tried calling out to her every now and then, but it fell on deaf ears. "Please..." She tried to say, but Kinzie didn't listen. Eventually, Kinzie decided it was time to let her victim die. She stopped torturing her, but at the same time, stopped going to the basement and giving her anything she needed. As the days progressed, Rin's mental state deteriorated even further, and as her body started shutting down, her thoughts shifted to release, to an afterlife, and to an escape. An escape from this hell she's been put through with no good reason. And on the fourth day after she was left to die, her final thought flew through her mind. "...freedom..." Shortly after, she hung her head low, let out her final breath, and passed. Another soul taken, another tragedy. Mercilessly killed by a monster with no heart. Innocence lost, never to be recovered. Hopefully, there's a way to stop the killings... Hopefully...
