Chapter 1: Emily
Two days later, Kinzie began to watch Matt from afar, much to his confusion. Not that it really mattered much to him, as he had better things to do. Kinzie on the other hand, was free to do what she wanted. Her parents were off somewhere else, she took care of all of her works, and she was conveniently always in the same location as him. Her gaze stared longingly at his blue hair, averting her eyes whenever he looked in her direction. In her notebook, she was scribbling away each time she had one of her sessions, taking notes of whatever he was doing. Be it chatting with his friends, trying to figure out what to do, or simply sitting on a bench, she wrote it down obsessively, imagining doing said activities with him. Even though she had only known him for little over three days, she thought that she was in love with him for a lifetime. Matt, seeing her out of the corner of his eye more than once, didn't pay much attention to her as always. He wasn't aware of her writings, but he made sure to watch her just in case something happened. Love-struck students were not rare in this area, and more than once had he heard of girls killing other people just for their lovers. As such, knowing how events can repeat themselves, kept tabs on Kinzie. He didn't want to get involved in an incident like that.
The next day, at lunch, Kinzie waited for her friend Emily to sit with her again. However, she never arrived, and as Kinzie looked around, she spotted Matt sitting with her, casually talking. While it didn't show itself on her face, Kinzie felt inside that she was betrayed. Like Emily had committed treason of the highest order. Her fingers began to tremble as her mind was filled with vengeful thoughts. "I can't believe this..." She said to herself. "How could she do this to me...?" Kinzie got up, went to the fountain area, sat in her usual spot, and began to angrily write in her notebook, cursing Emily for her betrayal. "Emily you traitorous girl! Matt is mine, and mine alone!" One note went. Another was her thinking of plans on how to get rid of her. As she wrote, her other friend, Zoe, came by. She saw what Kinzie was doing, and felt concerned. "Hey, Kinzie, you alright?" Zoe asked, seeing her friend hastily scribbling in her notebook. Kinzie looked to the left quickly, a crazed look on her face. She quickly dropped the look and felt relieved. "Oh, it's just you. I'm... kinda dealing with something." She looked back at the notebook in her lap slowly. Zoe, with her knowledge of this kind of behavior, understood what was going on. "Kinzie, I think I can help." Zoe told her. She raised an eyebrow, but decided to listen. "You can help me out?" Kinzie replied. "So here's the deal..." They talked for the remainder of the period, and for the walk home later that day.
A few days later, they were ready to put their plan forward. They had slipped a note into Emily's locker that afternoon, telling her to come to the back of the school at six in the evening, long after classes had ended at four. She waited patiently for anyone to show up, checking her phone from time to time. Eventually, Kinzie showed up, her bag over her shoulder. It was small, only containing the things she needed day-to-day, such as her wallet, keys, and other things. She approached Emily, her face dead serious. Emily didn't pay attention, just waiting as Kinzie walked toward her. "Oh, hey Kinzie. Why'd you call me here?" She asked, but Kinzie didn't respond. She simply opened her bag, reaching for something inside. Emily started to get worried, but Kinzie spoke. "I called you here... Because Matt is mine alone..." Her voice was low, but just the right volume for Emily to hear it. Emily was surprised, as they had a history. Namely, she was his ex. Emily wanted to get back together with Matt, but it seemed that wouldn't happen. "And I'm not gonna let you take him away..."
She swiftly pulled out a knife from her bag and stabbed Emily in the chest with it. She didn't even get the chance to scream, as Kinzie quickly silenced her by grabbing her throat. She left the knife in as to prevent more splatters, waiting for Emily to let her final breath out. Eventually, she died from blood loss, her desire to be back with Matt unfulfilled. Zoe showed up shortly after, seeing that the deed was done. What was unusual however, was that when Kinzie looked at her, there was a slight tint in her eyes. A faint, red tint, piercing through her normally blue eyes. She didn't think of it too much, going over to Kinzie to help dispose of the body. There wasn't much blood on the ground, as the knife was still in the body. The school's basement entrance was nearby, just under a hatch. They dragged Emily's corpse down in the basement, where everything they needed was available. An incinerator for the body, some cleaning materials, and a spare uniform just in case some blood got on Kinzie. This time thankfully, it didn't. They threw the body into the incinerator, the knife still in it. They turned it on and began to clean up the blood that dripped out on the way there. When they had finished, they made sure no traces were left, the incinerator was finished burning the body, and locked the basement back up. They were clever enough to make sure that no one could figure out what they did. As for Emily, with the way they executed everything, it seemed like she just... disappeared. An innocent soul, one who wanted another chance at love, extinguished by two killers. Unfortunately, that would become only one in the coming weeks...
